摘 要:The paper considers the heat transfer rates of forced convection to finned tubes of different geometry and particularly those having an elliptical center pipe. In a test tunnel specially built for the purpose, finned tubes were exposed to a stream of waste gas from a gas/air mixture at different Reynolds numbers. Based on measurements, mathematical relationships showing the dependence of the Nusselt number on the Reynolds number and on the geometry of the tubes were derived. The single pipe was found to involve a considerable drop of the mean heat treanfer coefficient as the gap between fins became closer. The results derived for single finned tubes were found to apply in certain circumstances also to a one-tier bundle of tubes consisting of single tubes. The results of the tests show that the heat transmission laws applying to flow in the gap between two plates cannot be applied to finned single tubes and to tube bundles composed of single tubes.
