Objective To differentiate the health effects of different particle size fractions (PM10, PM2.5-10, PM2.5, PM1-2.5, and PM1).Methods Daily cause-specific mortality, air pollution and weather data in Guangzhou, China during the period of January 1, 2009 to December 31,2011 were collected.A time-series Poisson model was applied to assess the association between different particle size fractions and cause-specific mortality, with adjustment of potential confounding factors, such as long-term and seasonal trends, day of the week, public holidays, influenza epidemic, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), daily mean temperature and relative humidity.
