Objective Imaging genetics is a means of examining associations between genetic variations and neuroimaging *** of brain networks has emerged as one of many new frontiers for research using resting-state fMRI. Method A nonparametric permutation test was used to determine whether significant genotype differences of GSK30 -rs6438552 existed between major depressive disorder(MDD) patients and controls.A general linear model 2×2 ANOVA was performed to investigate the main effects of genotype and prevalence and their ***,correlation analyses were conducted between Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD) scores and genetic association differences in the MDD group. Results Compared with CC carriers,T+ carriers with MDD showed increased nodal centralities in many brain regions—mainly the limbic system,basal ganglia,and parts of the parietal, temporal,occipital,and frontal *** showed decreased nodal centralities predominantly in the prefrontal,occipital,and temporal lobes and sensorimotor *** interactions between genotype and disease status for nodal centralities in the left inferior parietal lobe,left superior occipital gyrus,and left thalamus were *** the altered nodal centralities in the left angulus gyrus were negatively correlated with HAMD scores in one nodal measure. Conclusion Our results suggest the GSK3p genotypic effect of rs6438552 and its interaction with disease status may contribute to altered topological organization of resting-state functional brain networks in MDD patients.

Purpose Since the first-episode of psychosis is known to be a critical period,there has been an increased focus on the first-episode *** purpose of this study was to quantify and describe recent prescribing trends of antipsychotics use in patients with first-episode schizophrenia by comparing prescription patterns between the year 2005 and the year 2010. Especially in 2005,most of the commonly used 2nd generation antipsychotics were equipped in Korea,including aripiprazole granted approval for use in 2004. Methods In this retrospective study,we reviewed the medical records of patients discharged from Severance mental health hospital,a part of the unit of psychiatry,Yonsei University College of Medicine in 2005 and *** medication profiles were reviewed for the patients who were diagnosed as having schizophrenia or schizophreniform disorder(DSM-IV-TR, 4th edition) at the time of *** dosing of antipsychotics was calculated by prescribed daily doses(PDD) / defined daily doses(DDD) ratio. Results A sample of 47 records were reviewed for 2005 and 52 were reviewed for 2010. Significantly more individuals were treated with mood stabilizers in 2010 than in 2005(0% vs17.3%,p <0.01).In 2005,the four common first-prescribed antipsychotics after being diagnosed schizophrenia were olanzapine(34%),risperidone(34%),aripiprazole(23%) and haloperidol(19.1%).The list of commonly prescribed antipsychotics changed into risperidone (36.5%) quetiapine(23.1%),paliperidone(23.1%) and olanzapine(17.3%) in *** was no significant difference in antipsychotic dose of PDD/DDD ratio(2.06±1.07 vs 2.02±1.16) and prevalence of antipsychotic polypharmacy(34.0%vs 34.6%) between 2005 and *** regression analysis revealed that high dose antipsychotics were significantly associated with antipsychotic polypharmacy.(OR = 8.68,P <0.01) Conclusion Despite the change of the list of commonly prescribed antipsychotics,the use of antipsychotic polypharmacy wi

Objective To detect the contingent negative variation(CNV) in first episode deficit and non-deficit schizophrenia and the relationship between CNV and clinical variables. Methods Nihon Kohden evoked brain potentials machine were used to measure CNV in 60 patients with non-deficit schizophrenia(NDS),50 patients with deficit schizophrenia(DS ) and 60 unrelated healthy controls(HC).Click-flashing paradigm was used to record the *** clinical status of patients with schizophrenia was determined using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS).The overall functioning status was assessed using the Global Assessment of Functioning Scale(GAF).Partial correlations were computed to explore associations among the CNV in DS and the clinical data. Results Compared to HC,both DS and NDS groups showed significantly reduced amplitude of B(F=27.38,P = 0.00),significantly delayed reaction time(F=50.30,P = 0.00).Compared to HC,DS group showed the course of PINV significantly shorten,whereas NDS group showed significantly delayed(F=15.32,P = 0.00).Only DS,when compared with HC,showed delayed latency of point A in *** was no significantly difference among three groups in both area of A-S2'(F=234,P = 0.10) and area of PINV(F=1.07,P = 0.35).Amplitude of B and the course of PINV in DS group correlated negative with PANSS subscale of negative symptoms (r=-0.94,-0.89,respectively,P<0.05),whereas in NDS group amplitude of B correlated negative with PANSS subscale of positive symptoms(r =-0.87,P <0.05 ),but the course of PINV PANSS correlated positive with PANSS subscale of positive symptoms(r =0.88,P <0.05). Latency of point A in CNV,which was delayed in DS group,correlated negative with GAF(r =-0.62,P<0.05). Conclusions Generalized abnormalities of CNV existed in DS and NDS,while DS maybe more impairment in CNV than *** latency of point A in CNV may predict the function outcome of DS.

Objevtive Depression is one of the most common psychiatric *** burden of disease for depression goes beyond function and extends to somatic health.A growing body of evidence shows that depression is related to an increased risk of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes(DM),hypertension(HTN) and metabolic syndrome(MetS).This study aimed to investigate the associations with depression and metabolic diseases in Korean general population. Method This study was conducted for 45,293 Korean men and their spouses who got medical health check up in Kangbuk Samsung Total healthcare *** assess the clinical association between depression and metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes,hypertension,metabolic syndrome,we measured the prevalence rate of mentioned metabolic diseases according to the depression *** for Epidemiologi Studies-Depression Scale(CES-D) was used to evaluate the severity of depression(CES-D < 15:normal,CES-D 16-20:risk group,CES-D > 21: high risk group).In addition,Logistic regression model was used to estimate the odd ratios(ORs) for development of metabolic diseases according to the scores of CES-D scale. Results The general prevalence rate was 4.1%in diabtes,6.5%in hypertension and 14.1%in metabolic *** prevalence of metabolic diseases increased in proportion to the score of CES-D scale[Dibetes(CES-D < 15:3.7%,CES-D 16-20:4.3%,CES-D> 21:4.7%), Hypertension(CES-D < 15:4.3%CES-D 16-20:6.2%,CES-D> 21:7.5%) Metabolic syndrome (CES-D < 15:11.5%,CES-D 16-20:14.8%,CES-D> 21:15.3%)].When the odd ratio(OR) of normal group(CES-D < 15) was set to reference value(OR:1.00),The ORs for metabolic diseases also increased according to the score of CES-D *** addition,these associations were preserved even after adjusting for the various metabolic covariates such as age,physical activity,total cholesterol,LDL-cholesterol,triglyceride,body mass index,and obesity[Dibetes (CES-D 16-20:1.22,CES-D> 21:1.39),Hypertension(CES-D 16-20:1.27

Objective To explore the neuropathology mechanism of violent behavior in schizophrenia by comparing the gray matter volumes between violent schizophrenia who were going through forensic appraisal and healthy people without violence. Objective Functional integration is essential to normal brain function,alternations of functional connectivity in patients with Major Depressive Disorder(MDD) in resting-state have been explored by functional imaging techniques,but neurophysiologic connectivity measures with higher time resolution have not been systematically *** aims of present study were:i) To investigate the resting cortico-cortical functional coupling abnormalities of MDD by magnetoencephalography(MEG) ***) To explore whether the modifications of anomalous functional connectivity could be correlated with disease severity of depressive patients as expressed by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HRDS) scores. Methods MEG data were obtained in 12 patients of MDD and 12 non-depressed controls during the resting *** the participants were female subjects and the MDD patients were suffering the first *** synchronization likelihood(SL) as a measure of functional connectivity was calculated for the theta(4-8 Hz),alphal(8-10Hz),alpha2(10-13Hz),beta (13-30Hz) and gamma(30-45Hz) frequency *** between groups were obtained by permutation test(P>0.95 or P<0.05).Spearman correlation coefficient was used to explore the relationship between the significant SL values and HDRS scores of MDD(P< 0.05). Objective we used rat contextual fear conditioning model to investigate the role of NE/adrenal receptor dependent protein synthesis in the dorsal hippocampus in the late phase after extinction on the fear memory. Methods The rats were first trained for contextual fear memory(3 foot shocks,0.8 mA/1 s), and were tested memory on the next *** the third day,rats were exposed to the training context for 30 min to extinguish *** memory was tested on 2nd day and 14th day after extinction *** after the memory test on 14th day after extinction,a foot shock(0.8 mA/1 s) was given to be reinstated the *** the 15th day,the fear reinstatement was *** all memory testes,rats were exposed to the training context for 5 min without any *** freezing behavior was recorded to evaluate the *** the drug infusion,NE was microinjected into CA1 region of dorsal hippocampus at several time points(0 h,6 h,12 h and 24 h) after extinction respectively.β-receptor blocker propranolol or protein synthesis inhibitor anicomycin were microinjected to CA1 one hour before NE microinjection. Results 1) NE microinjected into CA1 Oh enhanced extinction memory tested on the next day, whereas NE microinjected into CA1 12 h after extinction selectively promoted the persistence of long term extinction memory and weakened the reinstatement.2) Propranolol blocked the NE effect on the persistence of long term extinction memory,but had no effect alone,suggested that the endogenous NE did not participate in the persistence of extinction memory.3) Anisomycin alone disrupted the persistence of long term extinction memory and blocked the NE effect, suggested the extinction memory persistence need a late phase new protein synthesis in CA1. Conclusion Activation of NE/β-receptor in the dorsal hippocampus at 12 h after extinction training promoted the persistence of long term extinction memory,which was dependent new protein ***

Objective High non-adherence rates in schizophrenia can limit the efficacy of ***,the use of long-acting injectable antipsychotics(LAIs) is considered to be an important treatment ***,new,large,randomized controlled trials(RCTs) showed no benefit of LAIs over oral antipsychotics(OAPs).Moreover,our recent meta-analysis of RCTs showed non-superiority of LAIs over OAPs[Kishimoto et *** Bulletin 2013].On the other hand,our meta-analysis of mirror-image studies(where the data before and after initiation of LAIs were compared in the same patients) showed strong superiority of LAIs over OAPs[Kishimoto et *** of Clinical Psychiatry(in press)].Such strong contrast of the results of RCTs and mirror-image studies raises a question as to what is the best design to assess the real-world effectiveness of *** may include patients with less severity and better adherence,while mirror-image studies include LAI-target populations,yet results are limited by expectation bias,time effects *** studies,*** followed patients without randomization,may be another way to examine the effectiveness of LAIs in a real-word clinical ***,we meta-analyzed the effect of LAIs compared to OAPs based on cohort data. Objectives The early detection and treatment for patients with postpartum depression is very important because it affects negatively not only to themselves but also to their babies and family ***-pituitary-adrenal(HPA) activity is altered in postpartum period and is considered to be associated with postpartum ***,the factors that may cause these HPA changes during the postpartum period are largely unknown.A better knowledge of the HPA changes in postpartum depression would increase our understanding of the maternal psychobiology during the postpartum period,and may provide insights into mechanisms that may underlie the pathophysiology of postpartum *** objectives of this study is to investigate the alterations of the salivary Cortisol awakening response(CAR) and dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA) in postpartum depression. Methods Korean Version of Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale(K-EPDS) and Korean Version of Beck Depression InventoryⅡ(K-BDI-Ⅱ) were performed to 227 postnatal mother for screening *** subjects more than 11 points of K-EPDS score and more than 14 points of K-BDI-Ⅱscore were evaluated by 17-item Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression(17-item HAM-D) and classified postpartum depression *** subjects below 10 points of K-EPDS score or below 13 points of K-BDI-Ⅱscore were classified to normal subjects. Also State Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI) and Modified form of the Stress Response Inventory(SRI-MF) were performed,and Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology, Clinician-Rated(QIDS-C) and Bech-Rafaelsen Melancholia Rating Scale(MES) were evaluated.
