@@ IntroductionBlood pressure (BP) levels in children are known to be correlated with body size (weight, height, or body mass index). A number of studies indicate that weight is more closely correlated with BP levels than height.1-4 Recent guidelines published in the Fourth Report on the Diagnosis, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure in Children and Adolescents provide the current BP standards in children and adolescents based on gender, age, and height.1 It has been argued by some researchers that incorporating a variable other than age in presenting BP standards is cumbersome and impractical, and if one decides to use a measure of body size, weight is a better choice than height.

@@ IntroductionThe melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) is expressed primarily in the central nervous system, and is a part of melanocortinergic pathway that regulates food intake and controls energy homeostasis[1]. The MC4R homozygous knock-out mice had maturity-onset obesity, hyperphagia, increased linear growth, hyperinsulinemia, and hyperglycemia [2] The heterozygous mice had intermediate bodyweights compared with the wild-type and homozygous mice, suggesting the gene dosage effect. In addition, MC4R-knockout mice had reduced metabolic rate.
