Trace metal concentrations were measured in Manila clams(Ruditapes philippinarum) and sediments collected along the Dalian coast of northeast China after the Dalian Port oil *** of the heavy metals Cu,Pb,Zn,Cd,Cr,Hg,and As in clam soft tissues ranged between 3.5 and 9.2,0.45 and 5.00,45.00 and 316.00,0.535 and 0.975,0.9 and 4.05,0.035 and 0.055,and 1.05 and 5.55 mg kg(dry weight),respectively. The highest metal concentrations in surface sediments were found at Pikou,whereas the clams collected at Jinshitan had the highest metal *** of Zn,Cd,Hg,and As had obviously occurred in ***,and there was a significant correlation(p < 0.05) between the concentrations of Pb,Cd,and Hg in *** and their concentrations in surface *** concentrations of metals detected in R. philippinarum were well within the legal limits for human consumption,except for Cr.

13 half-sib families and 39 fu11-sib families of Mytilus edulis *** established with the balance nest design which each male mated with three females and the artificial fertilization *** shell height and length of each family were measured on 2,3,5,*** heritability of the growth was estimated using the full-sib families *** results show that the maternal genetic variance component estimates are all significantly larger than those of paternal ones of each growth trait(P<0.05).The female genetic variance components are being significant maternal effects(P<0.05),suggesting that the large non-additive genetic effects could not be differentiated from the available data,so the heritability of paternal half-sib families estimates in the narrow sense were precise unbiased *** shell height heritability of paternal half-sib families estimates are respectively 0.29,0.85,0.84,*** shell length heritability are respectively 0.27,0.87,0.86,0.85,during 2,3,5,*** were significant additive genetic variance of the growth and different heritability of shell height and shell length,indicating that there are a great potential genetic improvement for the growth of Mytilus edulis *** the selective breeding.

we report the isolation,cloning,and tissue expression of the dopamine receptor from the gonad of Crassostrea *** 2843 bp long cDNA sequence encoding a putative dopamine receptor was also *** included a 916-bp UTR,an 1197 bp ORF that encoded a putative protein of 399 amino acids,and a 729 bp 3 -*** DR sequence possessed typical characteristics of D *** deduced dopamine receptor also has three major domains:a 106 amino acid extracellular domain,a 157 amino acid transmembrane domain and a 136 amino acid cytoplasmic *** transmembrane domains were comprised of seven stretches of hydrophobic regions,which were highly conserved compared with other dopamine related *** a real-time PCR approach expression profiles of DR were analyzed in adult tissues and during the four stages of gonad development larval *** was expressed ubiquitously although transcript levels varied between organs,but specially the higher mRNAs levels were detected in the gonad except *** the four stages,DR mRNA expressed highly in the proliferation *** above result suggest that DR probably play an important role in the proliferation of the gonad cells.

The two enzymes 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase(3β-HSD) and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase(17β-HSD) are engaged in the biosynthesis of steroid hormones,including androgen, estrogen production and *** particular,they are key enzymes in the testosterone biosynthetic pathway because 3β-HSD catalyzes the conversion of the dehydroepiandrosterone into androstenedione(4-dione),the immediate precursor of testosterone,and 17β-HSD the conversion of androstenedione into ***,no information on 3β-HSD and 17β-HSD genes from mollusc is *** using Race,real-time PCR and in silico analysis,we obtained the full-length cDNAs of 3β-HSD and 17β-HSD of the Portuguese oyster Crassostrea *** full-length cDNA of 3β-HSD(1444 bp) and 17β-HSD(1149 bp) respectively encodes two peptides of 356 amino acids and 307 amino *** of 3β-HSD and 17β-HSD mRNA transcripts were expressed in all tissues of oyster,at highest levels in *** the low expression levels without significant difference were observed in testis,muscle,mantle,gill and visceral *** mRNA transcript of 3β-HSD and 17β-HSD increased from proliferation stage to maturity ***,the expression level decreased sharply in the release stage and droped the lowest *** the maturity stage of female oyster,the expression of 3β-HSD and 17β-HSD were the highest peak which is significantly higher than other *** findings suggest that 3β-HSD and 17β-HSD are likely to play an important role in the reproductive cycle of oysters.

The gut of abalone contains a diverse population of bacteria which contribute to food digestion and nutrient *** investigate the development of gut microflora in the small abalone Haliotis diversicolor,and the effect of various diet on the bacterial communities,we studied the composition of gut microbial flora and the bacterial digestive enzymes in connection with four important development stages,i.e.,larva,early-juvenile,late-juvenile and *** Firmicutes group were isolated from both the larval and early juvenile stages;the CFB (Cytophaga/Flexibacteria/Bacterioides) group were detected in early juvenile,late juvenile and grow-out;the -proteobacteria existed through all of the four development *** these bacterial isolates Bacillus *** Pseudoalteromonas *** in the larval stage and were rarely detected in other ***,the genus Vibrio predominated the latter three phases after the first *** analysis of the DGGE(Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis) patterns was basically congruent with the result of culture-dependent method in which the gut bacterial community indicated the successional change in the development stages. And the artificial diets contribute to the change of gut bacterial composition to a certain extent. The enzyme assay showed that the gut bacteria from the early juveniles produced the greatest diverse digestive *** gut bacteria with casein,lipase and alginate-degrading activity were dominant species in the farmed abalone *** results showed that an unique but interrelated bacterial flora were developed in the abalone gut which is coincident with the change of diets.

Apple Snail(Ampullariidae:Pomacea canaliculata) is a species of large freshwater snail with gills and an operculum,an aquatic gastropod *** species is considered to be in the top 100 of the "World’s Worst Invasive Alien Species".The native distribution of P. canaliculata is basically tropical and subtropical,including Argentina,Bolivia,Paraguay, Uruguay,and Brazil. This snail is now widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world regarded as alien *** is commonly seen in south China including Taiwan,Macau and Hong Kong in various habitats such as rivers,streams,ponds,cultivation land,drainage channels and other type of wetlands and *** of the snail from various ecological survey projects was analyzed against environmental change of selected indicators(residential buildings and cultivation lands) within the river *** on satellite images from Google Maps, quantitative estimation of residential area cultivation land was *** study showed that the distribution of the species was associated with environmental change in the water *** results indicated that freshwater system with significant human disturbance in Hong Kong was almost all inhabited by apple snail original from South *** is arguable that we showed use the terms "invasive","invasion" for those alien flora and fauna species as many of those alien species were human invited or introduced because of human interest,for instance,for their economic or cultural values.
