For exploring the influence of different compatibility on the Cold(Han) and Hot(Re) nature of Chinese medicines with different hot/cold nature,a novel cold/hot pad differentiating assay based on the IATTB(iIntelligent aAnimal tTemperature tTropism bBehavior) monitoring system was used to investigate the variability of temperature tropism among the mice which were treated by Mahuang decoction with hot nature and Maxingshigan decoction with cold nature,***,the oxygen consumption and activities of adenosine triphosphatase(ATPase) were measured in order to probe the mechanism of energy *** was found that the differences between Cold/Hot nature of Mahuang decoction and Maxingshigan decoction were significant(p<0.05). Mahuang decoction produced significant synergic effect(combination index of 1.60),while,Maxingshigan decoction expressed significantly antagonistic effect(combination index of 0.35).The change of energy metabolism including ATPase activity and oxygen consumption might be the possible *** influences tended to be coherent with the definition of Cold/Hot nature of Chinese medicines based on traditional Chinese medicinal *** results indicated that the cold/hot pad differentiating array used in this study could represent objectively and quantitatively the Cold/Hot nature of different compatibility of Chinese medicines in an ethological way based on the changes of animal's temperature tropism, providing an experimental basis as well as a novel evaluation method for the study of the regularity of recipe composition.

The *** activities of four extracts in leaves of Dracontomelon dao,a traditional folk herb in China were investigated and compared by *** four extracts are PE fraction,CHCl fraction,EtOAc fraction,n-BuOH fraction. The heat flow power-time(HFP-time) curves of *** growth in the presence of the four extracts were measured using an ampoule *** the nine thermal kinetic parameters were obtained from the *** the result of principal component analysis (PCA),it can be seen that parameters k,k,P,Q might be the main parameters in evaluating the *** *** the presence of CHCl fraction,EtOAc fraction and n-BuOH fraction,k,Q of *** decreased with increasing concentrations of the extracts. The EtOAc fraction was observed to have the strongest anti-bacterial activity with half-inhibitory concentration IC50 of 98.5μg/ml. So it can be concluded that EtOAc fraction can be further developed as antibacterial bioactive fraction of leaves of Dracontomelon dao.

Aconitum herbal medicines, such as Radix Aconiti(RA),Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffli(RAK),Radix Aconiti Singularis (RAS),Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata(RALP) and Radix Aconiti Brachypodi(RAB) are commonly used traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in *** the good therapeutic effect in treatment of joint pain, rheumatosis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.,the toxicity, such as arrhythmia, respiratory paralysis, the vagus nerve exciting, usually ***,efficiently assessing the toxicity of the five Aconitum herbal medicines has attracted more and more *** this paper,in order to explore the active components with toxic effects, the fingerprints of five Aconitum herbal medicines were established by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography(UPLC) and the toxicity were evaluated by using a TAM Air Isothermal Calorimeter on Tetrahymena thermophila SB *** analyzing the spectrum-effect relationships between UPLC fingerprints and toxic effects, the active components which had the toxic effects were *** work provides a general model of the combination of UPLC and microcalorimetry to study the spectrum-effect relationships of the five Aconitum herbal medicines, which can be used to evaluate the toxic effects, analyze principal toxic components of five Aconitum herbal *** the whole, this result provides experimental basis for the safety use of the five Aconitum herbal medicines in clinic.

As a widely used traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata(Fuzi) is not only efficacious but also *** toxicity of it and its processed products should be taken into account and effectively *** this study,a non-invasive and non-destructive microcalorimetric method was employed to evaluate and compare the toxicity of Fuzi and its three processed products including Yanfupian,Heifupian, and Danjupian on Escherichia coli(***).Some important metabolic information, such as the power-time curves and some quantitative thermo-kineric parameters including growth rate constant k, heat-output power P,inhibitory ratio I,and half-inhibitory concentration IC,of *** growth affected by various concentrations of Fuzi and its processed products were *** with chemometric techniques including multivariate analysis of variance and principal component analysis on this information,it could be seen that Fuzi and its processed products could be distinguished according to their toxic effects on *** IC values of 14.6 mg/mL for Fuzi,59.2 mg/mL for Yanfupian,118.3 mg/mL for Heifupian, and 181.7 mg/mL for Danfupian illustrated that the sequence of toxicity on *** was Fuzi>Yanfupian>Heifupian>*** study provided a useful method and idea of the combination of microcalorimetry and chemometrics for studying the toxic effects of TCMs and other substances.

Over-dose use of traditional Chinese medicines(TCMs) has attracted more and more attentions in recent *** the rational and scientific dose of TCMs to be used in clinical settings has become much more *** present study was designed to investigate the protective effects of Chi-Dan-Tui-Huang decoction(CDTHD) on alpha-naphthylisothiocyanate (ANIT)-induced acute cholestatic hepatitis in rats, and to try to explore the dose-effect relationship as well as the relationship between large dose and *** hepatitis was induced by intragastric administration of ANIT 60 mg/kg to rats for 2 ***,a range of CDTHD doses(5.4,10.8,21.6,43.2 and 81 g/kg·d) were intragastrically administered to ANIT-treated rats twice each day for 3 *** days after CDTHD was given, the protective effects against cholestatic hepatitis were investigated by examining the folloeing parameters:body weights of rats, morphological and histopathological liver changes, malonyldialdehyde(MDA) contents and superoxide dismutase(SOD) activities, and the levels of serum biomarkers including alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),total bilirubin(TBIL) and direct bilirubin(DBIL) alkaline phosphatase(ALP),andγ-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GT).Furthermore,the dose-effect relationship was investigated with the application of correspondence *** results showed that CDTHD exhibited a significant hepatoprotective effect on injured liver, reversing adverse biochemical and histopathological *** protective effects were acieved in a dose-dependent manner as CDTHD in range of 21.6-81 g/kg·d could dose-dependently ameliorate ANIT-induced acute cholestatic hepatitis in *** the tested range of doses,CDTHD did not show any toxic effects with increases of dose and *** results are consistent with the histopathological observations and the determination of serum levels of biomarkers of liver *** study provides useful data for studying the
