An interdisciplinary framework based on physiology,ecology,and evolution can be constructed by studying body *** size has been broadly used as an indicator to interpret relationships among combined disciplines,among which most of the efforts are focused on large body ***, a phylogenetic state of body size evolving towards extremely small size,is relatively less concerned. Correlations between miniaturization and population density,extinction risk,reproductive success and larval survival of fishes are given *** paper also reviews miniaturization of fish in terms of feeding efficiency,phylogeny and *** of evolving down in size is discussed according to optimal egg size theory.

2000年4月,2005年4月先后从嘉陵江合川江段收回大眼鳜亲鱼,经人工催产、授精、孵化获得仔鱼,将其在水温变幅为26．5-29．5℃条件下,于60cm×50cm×40cm 水族箱中培育。前后比较完整地观察了3批仔稚鱼的发育情况。简要报道观察... 详细信息

While it has widely been suggested that freshwater fish invaded the western Palaearctic from East Asia,details about this process are largely *** we analyse the phylogenetic relationships of a small group of Eurasian primary freshwater fishes(Cobitidae),which are widely distributed and species rich in East Asia and Europe using the cytochrome b *** and East Asian Cobitids studied intermingled with each *** geographic groups are largely paraphyletic and the data presented here supported the view that Asian Cobitid fishes invaded Europe up to six times independently over a time span of 14 MY.

It was found that there is a peculiar structure in Glyptosternum maculatum(Regan)(Siluriformes: Sisoridae).This structure,located between skin and muscle-just beneath the skin inferior to the base of pectoral fin,connected with the celiac liver by a funiform tissue called“joint belt”,is demonstrated a part of the fiver and named“exo-celiac liver”.The liver of *** is composed of the normal celiac fiver,the“exo-celiac liver”between lateral skin and muscle,and the“joint belt”connecting them. The“exo-celiac liver”has similar histological feature with the celiac *** isozyme bands of LDH, EST,MDH,and ADH electrophoretograms have no difference with those of the celiac fiver and suggest that their enzymic activity is at the same ***,the“exo-celiac liver”was also found in some species of Sisoridae,Pseudechensis sulcatus(McClelland),Euchiloglanis davidi(Sauvage), pareuchiloglanis gongshanensis Chu,Glaridoglanis andersonii(Day)and Exostoma labiatum (McClelland).

To ascertain the evolutionary history and long-standing taxonomic problems among Salangidae fishes,we surveyed the complete cytochrome b sequence(1141 bp)from salangids covering almost all species of this *** data revealed that Salangids mtDNA was sorted into four primitive lineages:(Ⅰ),Protosalanx+Neosalanx anderssoni+***+***;(Ⅱ),N. reganius+***+***+***.;(Ⅲ),Hemisalanx+Salanx+Leucosoma+ Salangichthys ishikawae;and(Ⅳ),***.A major finding of our study is the key basal placement of *** divergence of the four lineages appears to have been initiated in the early Miocene(21.00 Myr),with most speciation events occurring 1.05-9.90 *** revisions on sub-familial,generic and specific levels were carried out based on,phylogenetic relationships and genetic distance taking into account some key morphological *** speciation mechanism in Salangidae is also discussed,and the evidences show that geographic isolation as well as water mass may not play an important role in speciation of temperate estuarine fish.

Salanx ariakensis is an anadromous fish species distributed in the sea coasts of East *** described phylogenetic structure of four populations of Salanx ariakensis from Japan(Ariake Bay), Korea(Jindo)and China(the estuaries of the Yangtze and Yalu Jiang)based on partial mitochondrial cytochrome b gene(795 bp).The results showed that specimens from the estuaries of the Yangtze and Yalu Jiang widely interacted with Korean population,but less connection was observed between them and the Japanese *** of molecular variance suggested that the Japanese population evolved relatively independently,thus differing significantly from the other three populations with high pairwise fixation index,while among the other three populations,wide interactions were *** results of Nested Clade Analysis were congruent with the phylogeny,and a unimodal mismatch distribution with negative Tajima's D value suggested that interactions among two Chinese populations and Korean population or populations distributed along the continental coasts presented a rapid population *** a multimodal was observed to suggest that the Japanese population has undergone a bottleneck event,helping explain the endangerment of Japanese ***.

The fishes of genus Glossogobius Gill,1859 are larger body-size benthic species among gobioid fishes in *** are widely distributed over tropical and subtropical area of the Indo-Pacific region,and inhabit in the fresh waters,estuaries,lagoons and even coastal *** is distributed all the unpolluted river basins in Taiwan,even Turtle Island of Ilan *** diagnostic features of this genus are tongue with bilobed margin,fully scaled nape and five main horizontal rows of the infraorbital sensory *** the morphological studies,other specific features like the presence of horizontal extension of row a and transverse papillae clusters on opercle,counts of predorsal scales and coloration patterns,which would be essential for species identifications of *** are 21 valid,nominal species in genus Glossogobius around the Indo-Pacific, among them there are at least five species to be distributed in fresh waters and estuaries of Taiwan. In order to clarify the phlyogenetic perspective for such species group,we have employed the mitochondrial DNA sequences for further molecular ***,the studies of molecular sequence analysis have been selected for the genetic markers including the D-loop region and ND5 gene *** length of D-loop sequence is about 974-977 bp,and partial region of ND5 sequences is 1069 bp which have been sequenced and *** phylogenetic results from molecular analysis will be discussed by their evolutionary hypothesis from specific morphological features.

The monophyletic group of teleostean fish known as the Otophysi(ostariophysan groups excluding Gonorynchiformes),represents about two third of all freshwater fishes and constitutes one of the most diverse vertebrate taxa,including the Cypriniformes(carps and loaches),Characiformes (piranhas and relatives),Siluriformes(catfishes),and Gymnotiformes(knifefishes).To date,there were five competing evolutionary hypotheses regarding the four otophysan groups(orders).The phylogenetic relationship within otophysan fishes remains highly *** present study, approximate 1170 bp nuclear RAG1 sequences of 13 otophysan fishes plus five RAG1 sequences of related groups were retrieved from *** phylogenetic trees,constructed using the maximum parsimony(MP),neighbor-joining(NJ),maximum likelihood(ML)and Bayesian methods,show an identical topology for the four otophysan *** competing otophysan topologies were then tested by using the approximately unbiased test,the Kishino-Hasegawa test,and the Shimodaira-Hasegawa *** results show that the grouping ((((Characiformes,Siluriformes), Gymnotiformes),Cypdniformes),outgroups)is the most likely but there is no significant difference between this one and the other two alternative hypotheses at 5% significant level— ((((Gymnotiformes,Siluriformes),Characiformes),Cypriniformes),outgroups),and ((((Characiformes,Gymnotiformes),Siluriformes),Cypriniformes),outgroups).

Salt marsh estuaries have long been recognized as areas which naturally support high densities and production levels of *** mesotidal and macrotidal estuaries systems,intertidal creeks provide major routes for tidal migratory nekton to move from subtidal channels into salt marshes,and provide abundance of food and protection form *** study investigated the utilization of an intertidal salt marsh creek by nekton assemblages based on seasonal sampling surveys with a fyke net between July 2004 and May *** hundred and sixty-eight sample collections were taken from the salt marsh creek,and yielded a total number of 65762 individuals belonging to 34 fish and 2 crustaceans *** residents and marine nursery species were the dominant ecological gulids. Dominant species included Liza haematocheila and Synechogobius ommaturus,which together accounted for 90.7% of all fish,and Palaemon carinicauda,which composed 94.7% of the crustaceans throughout the sampling *** results showed that nekton assemblages had strong season patterns and weak diel variations.
