In contrast to visual and somatosensory systems, the auditory system has a longer subcortical pathway between the sensory receptor and the cerebral *** unique organization reflects the needs of the auditory system to process complex acoustic signals using strategies that are different from those used by other sensory *** visual and somatosensory systems, the auditory system must also process signals that are self-produced such as human speech and animal vocalizations.I will discuss in my talk recent discoveries on cortical coding of acoustic information and neural mechanisms involved in vocal feedback control and learning in the primate brain.

<正>The bottom-up and top-down attentional regulation plays an important role for auditory *** track the dynamics of cortical response in an auditory stimulus discrimination task, both scalp EEG recording on normal subject and intracranial EEG recording on epilepsy patients undergoing subdural electrode monitoring for surgical purpose are employed to map the attentional *** low frequency event-related potential and high gamma oscillations were analyzed to obtain the property of early passive components and late active responses respectively. Moreover, these cortical neural dynamics was detected in an online fashion by machine learning algorithms to establish an auditory brain-computer interface, which is potentially useful for locked-in patients with vision impairment.

Neurons are the most vulnerable cells upon ischemic *** of neuronal survival is thus important for prevention of ischemic brain *** report that the transient receptor potential canonical(TRPC) 6 was neuroprotective in focal cerebral ***6 protein level in the neurons was greatly reduced in *** downregulation was specific for TRPC6 in the members of TRPC subfamily and mediated by calpain proteolysis.A peptide that contains a sequence spanning calpain cleavage site on TRPC6 protein specifically blocked TRPC6 ***,this peptide was neuroprotective against ischemic insults in both cultured neurons and *** level of phosphorylated cAMP-response element binding protein(pCREB) was maintained by the peptide, suggesting that the CREB signaling pathway was involved in the neuroprotective *** results indicated that suppression of calpain-mediated TRPC6 degradation preserved neuronal survival and prevented ischemic brain damage.

It is well documented that both genetic and environmental factors play important roles in etiology of Parkinson disease(PD).Genetic studies of familial cases identify mutations in more than 10 genes causing *** pathophysiological function of these genes remains largely ***,a number of pesticides and herbicides induce parkinsonism in both human and animal *** of them are shown to regulate PD associated genes. During the past decade,we have interested in roles of genes-environmental factors interaction in PD *** results suggest that PD-related environmental factors contribute to PD etiology likely via epigenetically regulation of PD associated *** this presentation,we will discuss in detail PD associated epigenetic modification.

Objective A growing body of evidence indicates that neuroinflammation characterized by microglial activation probably contributes to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease(PD),and the mechanisms underlying microglial activation in PD are largely *** study is to explore whether aggregated a-synuclein can activate microglia and the mechanism underlying *** The activation of microglia was measured by morphological changes, neurotoxic factor production, and phagocytotic activity in BV2 cells as well as primary cultured rat microglia treated with aggregated *** Aggregated a-synuclein clearly changed microglial morphology and enhanced microglial production of extracellular NO,mRNA levels of IL-lβ,IL-6,COX-2,iNOS and phagocytotic *** Aggregated a-synuclein can induce microglial activation, and the underlying mechanisms are under study.

Phototaxis is a basic response to environmental stimuli in the fruit fly Drosophila *** larvae, which prefer darkness to light, receive visual input from 2 bilateral groups of 12 photoreceptor neurons, known as the Bolwig's Organ(BO),which deliver output directly to pdf-expressing neurons in the central *** both the BO and pdf neurons causes blindness in larvae, suggesting that these neurons underlie the visual information flow that guides larval *** examined the neurons involved in larval phototactic behavior, and found that inhibiting the function of 2 pairs of larval CNS neurons that are putatively post-synaptic to pdf neurons results in a preference for light,as opposed to the preference for darkness observed in wild type *** results extend knowledge of the neural circuit that mediates larval phototactic behavior, and also elucidate the neural circuit that controls larval preference between light and darkness.

Objective The zebrafish(Danio rerio) is emerging as a useful behavioral model of human anxiety. Here we further ascertain zebrafish larvae models of anxiety and validate the pharmacological effects of neuroactive compounds by the light/dark preference *** We provide a detailed description of the pattern of exploratory behaviours encountered in zebrafish larvae when exposed to the light/dark preference *** find that the larvae spend less time in the dark compartment relative to the white compartment of the testing *** expression of these dark-avoidance behaviours was significantly attenuated by anxiolytic(diazepam, lorazepam) drugs. Results The findings ascertain the nature of dark-avoidance behaviours as anxiety-like behaviours and provide the pharmacological validation of the light/dark preference test for zebrafish *** behavioural based assay can accommodate drug screening of neuroactive compounds.

In the adult mammals, axotomy of mature neurons in the central nervous system(CNS) triggers massive cell death and failure to spontaneous axon *** relationship between axotomy-induced neuronal death and axon regeneration has not yet well-understood,although promoting intrinsic capability of axon regeneration of CNS neurons is often accompanied by moderately improved neuronal *** we generated a mouse line with conditional knock-out of apoptotic protease activating factor 1(Apfal).Apafl was deleted in retina ganglion cells (RGCs) by intravitreal injection of AAV-Cre virus, followed by optic nerve *** data show that although Apafl is deleted,RGCs have significantly a high survival rate, but their axon regeneration ability is not ***, axon regeneration is not the consequence of rescuing neuronal death.
