To improve the bioavailability of hawthorn leaves flavonoids(HLF), bioadhesive powders(BP) were prepared by an emulsion-solvent evaporation technique. Bioadhesive polymers such as sodium alginate(SA),carboxyl chitosan(CPCTS) and carbopol 974p(CP) were used in the bioadhesive powders *** formulations of HLF bioadhesive powders were respectively given to six healthy beagle *** from statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences between the HLF-BP and the commercially available HLF pills in pharmacokinetic parameters(AUC0-∞,Cmax and Tmax).The rate and extent of absorption of HLF-BP was found to be significantly faster and larger than HLF pills,as shown by a higher Cmax, a shorter Tmax and a larger *** to HLF *** bioavailability of HLF in beagle dogs was improved by using bioadhesion.
