This study was aimed to investigate the acute changes of brain function in survivors of Lushan earthquake within one week by means of contingent negative variation(CNV). Psychoactive drug-naive survivors who had fracture in Lushan earthquake were included in the study. The data from healthy subjects(HS) were collected before the earthquake. The results showed that the survivors had increased CNV amplitude(p<0.005) and reaction time(RT)(p<0.001) compared with HS. The findings might suggest that survivors of a big earthquake would show higher level of arousal and cortical excitability, and the function of attention and concentration was impaired which causes increased RT.
