Memory deficit has been posited to play an important role in the etiology of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) . However the results of the verbal memory studies in OCD were quiet inconsistent. It may due to the methodology of memory test and index of memory capacity. In two experiments, the authors adopted the signal detection approach to analyze the data from the verbal recognition test, which include three kinds of materials: emotional, obsessive-compulsive threatened (OCT) and neutral words, in individuals with high and low obsessive compulsive symptoms (HOCs and LOCs). The result in the first experiment indicated that the HOCs exhibit lower sensitivity on neutral words than LOCs. To confirm and extend the findings , the second experiment was conducted, which involved a pure neutral word recognition test and, then, the repetition of the first experiment. Interestingly, the HOCs and LOCs performed no difference in pure neutral recognition test, but repeated the results of experiment 1. These findings suggested that the HOCs would be vulnerable to the negative or self-related information and can not be recovered when the word was switch to neutral. And our results may relate to the neuropathology of OCD.

Objectives:This research assessed the prevalence and sociodemographic correlates of clinical eating disorder symptomology among adolescents from the People's Republic of China. Methods: A sample of 2,103 adolescents (1320 females,783 males) from 12 to 22 years of age was recruited from academic settings in various regions of China. Participants completed a back-translated Chinese version of the Eating Disorder Diagnostic Scale (Stice ,Telch, & Rizvi,2000) a psychometrically sound screening measure for DSM-Ⅳ Eating Disorders as well as measures of body dissatisfaction and demographics. Results and Discussion: Consistent with predictions, reports of eating disorder symptoms and body dissatisfaction were significantly higher for adolescent girls than adolescent boys. In support of the socioeconomic gradient hypothesis , rates of eating disorder and body dissatisfaction were typically most pronounced a-mong adolescents from higher income households. The hypothesis that higher rates of eating disorder symptoms and body dissatisfaction than early and late adolescents received mixed support. Findings buttress past eating disorder prevalence work and highlight demographic factors related to increased risk in this population.
