The insect pest Brown planthopper (BPH)is one of the key constraints on increasing rice production. Growth, development and reproduction of BPH are very different when the insects feed on rice varieties with different, resistance levels. To investigate the molecular response of BPH to ingestion of BS, a highly resistant rice line, and MH63, a moderately resistant rice variety, cDNA-amplified fragment length polymorphism (cDNA-AFLP): experiments were firstly carried out to analyze the differentially expressed transcripts in the fourth instar BPH nymphs.
