A simple,low-cost and sensitive method for determining organophosphate esters(OPEs) in water samples has been developed based on headspace solid-phase microextraction(SPME) followed by gas chromatography-flame photometric *** ionic liquid(l-allyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate,[AMIM][BF4])-based coating was developed by sol-gel technology and employed for extracting *** prepared coating performed stably at high temperatures(up to 335℃) and with a range of *** can be used at least 200 times without an obvious decrease in extraction efficiency. The extraction capability of the new fiber was much higher than polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS), polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene(PDMS/DVB) and polyacrylate(PA) *** experimental parameters that influenced the extraction efficiency,including extraction time,extraction temperature, stirring rate and ionic strength were investigated and *** the optimal conditions,the method detection limits(S/N=3) were in the range of 0.7-12 ng L-l,and the limits of quantification (S/N=10) were between 1.0 and 28 ng *** repeatability of a single fiber varied from 3.3 to 7.6% (intra-day precision,n=6) and 4.3 to 8.9%(inter-day precision,n=6).The reproducibility of fiber-to-fiber(n=6) was in the range of 3.1-9.4%.The proposed method was applied successfully to the determination of OPEs in lake water,wastewater,sewage treatment plant effluent,and tap water with recoveries varying from 75.2 to 101.8%.The results demonstrate that the proposed method is highly effective for analyzing OPEs in water samples.

The non-protein amino acid,p-N-methylamino-L-alanine(BMAA),has been reported as an important pathogenic factor in the neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-parkinsonism dementia complex(ALS/PDC).BMAA has been reported in various species of cyanobacteria living in freshwater and marine *** isomer of BMAA,2,4-diaminobutyric acid(DAB),has also been found in a variety of *** the present study,two strains of Microcystis aeruginosa and one strain of Nostoc *** cultured using a BG-11 medium recipe altered with different levels of nitrate and *** influence of temperature and illumination intensity was also *** additional 17 strains of cyanobacteria isolated from fresh waters in China, including Nostoc sp.,Calothrix sp.,Scytonema sp.,Lyngbya sp.,Synechococcus sp.,Anabaena sp., Planktothrix sp.,Aphanizomenon sp.,etc.,were incubated under normal conditions with BG-11 medium. Three field samples were also collected from lakes in *** chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was used to directly determine BMAA and DAB levels within cyanobacteria]*** BMAA was detected in any cyanobacteria strains,under any of the incubation conditions tested. However,trace levels of DAB were found in most *** results indicated that production of DAB was affected by the environmental factors studied and by the ratio of nitrate and *** occurrence of DAB in freshwater environments,and its significance needs to be considered in terms of protecting human health and drinking water supplies.

Organophosphorous（OP） pesticides had been largely produced and utilized in China. For single pesticides,the individual toxicities has been well ***,however, frequently occur as mixtures in the various water *** pesticide mixtures had significantly threatened the aquatic organisms with high ecological risk even if at environmentally relevant low concentrations. The toxicities of five OP pesticides including dichlorvos,parathion,methyl parathion, malathion and dimethoate and their mixtures to Daphnia magna were measured,*** systematically explore the toxicity of OP mixtures with the concentration variation,the uniform design method with less experimental effort was used to design the OP pesticide *** the mixtures were also designed by the classic equivalent-effect concentration ratio method. Based on the concentration-response curve（CRC） of the single pesticides,two models had been employed for predicting the total toxicity of all the mixtures:concentration addition（CA） in case of similarly acting substances and independent action（IA） in case of mixture sharing dissimilarly acting mechanism. Our results showed that the acute toxicity order of five OP pesticides to Daphnia magna was dichlorvos> parathion> methyl parathion> malathion> dimethoate,when the negative logarithmic of EC effect(pEC) selected as the toxic *** can exactly predicted the effects of all mixtures much better than *** the model deviation rate（MDR） represents the deviation between the effect concentrations predicted by CA or IA and the observed concentrations,the mean MDR value of CA at the different effect levels was 0.93 while the MDR of IA was 3.13, indicating that CA can predict the joint toxicity of OP pesticides to Daphnia magna.

Hydrophobic organic compounds(HOCs) will bind with suspended sediments (SPS) in aquatic *** HOCs associated with SPS might be bioavailable and toxic to organisms,further exert influences on water ***,the water quality criteria (WQC) should consider the bioavailability of HOCs attached with ***,few researches have studied the influence of SPS on bioavailability and toxic effects of *** the present research,the influences of SPS on bioavailability of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(phenanthrene) to Daphnia magna were studied with a dialysis bag simulation system,which equalized the freely dissolved concentrations of phenanthrene outside and inside dialysis *** results showed that the lethality rates of Daphnia magna had a significant positive correlation with the freely dissolved concentration of phenanthrene(r=0.999,p<0.05), and the total superoxide dismutase activity(T-SOD activity) in Daphnia magna rose first then fell with the increase of the freely dissolved concentration of *** presence of SPS(1-5 g/L) increased the lethality rates of *** by 1.7-7.0 times when the freely dissolved concentration of phenanthrene kept constant,and the toxicity of phenanthrene increased with SPS ***,the presence of SPS reduced the total superoxide dismutase activity(T-SOD activity).And there was no significant correlation between the freely dissolved concentration of phenanthrene and T-SOD when with the presence of SPS, suggesting that SPS plays an important role in the toxic effect of phenanthrene to ***. Rice is one of the most important food crops in China,and is commonly cultivated in large river *** those areas,the extensive use of pesticides may pose adverse effect on water quality of the rivers ***,it would be necessary to conduct pesticide risk assessment at a basin-scale ***,a watershed-scale scenario was developed to represent the specific soil,water,climate and agricultural management practices of rice cultivation in East Tiaoxi river basin of Zhejiang Hangzhou.A 1500-ha rice-cultivated basin was simulated using a combination of a rice water quality model(RICEWQ v 1.90) and a surface water quality model(EXAMS v 2.98.04) *** mass releases from paddies were utilized as inputs to a large river(20m width×5km length×2m depth).In order to validate the established model and scenario system,monitoring studies were conducted during 2008, 2009 and 2010 in the Tiaoxi river basin of *** of the 90th percentile of maximum daily river predicted exposure concentrations(PECs) with the maximum measured concentrations of chlorpyrifos in the Tiaoxi River revealed acceptable ***,the derived PECs through modelling,and eco-toxicological endpoints obtained from the literature, were used to calculate acute and chronic risk quotients(RQs) for aquatic *** risk assessment suggested that chlorpyrifos may pose marginal risk to aquatic invertebrates and low risk to most other aquatic *** study could provide useful reference for the development of similar representative scenarios in China.

abstract In the EU,there are various legislative frameworks addressing endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs),*** regulations on industrial chemicals(REACH),plant protection products(PPPs),and biocides as well as the guideline on the environmental risk assessment of medicinal products for human use(pharmaceuticals).Developing identification criteria for EDCs is a focus for the EU. Meanwhile,international organisations like WHO/UNEP and OECD have published documents on *** paper summarizes recent activities related to addressing EDCs and scientific challenges. Current activities Several documents have been published,including a report on the implementation of the Community Strategy for Endocrine Disruptors;State-of-the-art of the assessment of endocrine disrupters(from DG ENV);The impacts of endocrine disrupters on wildlife,people and their environments The Weybridge+15(1996-2011) report(from EEA).Several European Commisison expert groups have been formed,including the 'Ad-hoc group' for bringing science and policy together,and JRC and EFSA expert groups for discussing horizontal scientific identification *** chemicals have been listed under REACH as Substances of very high concern(SVHC) of an equivalent level of concern due to the endocrine disrupting *** OECD is focusing on the following five aspects concerning EDCs:l)The conceptual framework was revised;2) Test guidelines including different biomarkers for elucidating MOAs and apical endpoints have been validated and developed;3) A guidance document on standardised test guidelines for evaluating chemicals for endocrine disruption was published;4) A detailed review paper on novel in vitro and in vivo screening and testing methods and endpoints for evaluating endocrine disruptors was released;5) adverse outcome pathways(AOPs).The WHO/UNEP has revised the "Global assessment of the state-of-the-science of endocrine disruptors" In addition,the endocrine disruptor screening program(EDSP)

Although it has been found that the adverse effects of some engineered nanomaterials （ENMs） can be recovered under the normal condition,we know little about the mechanism for recovery response *** we explored nematode Caenorhabditis elegans to investigate the recovery responses of titanium dioxide nanoparticles（TiCVNPs） exposed animals under the normal condition and the in vivo underlying *** acute exposure to 100 mg/L of Ti02-NPs,locomotion behavior,pharyngeal pumping rate,intestinal autofluorescence and ROS production of exposed nematodes returned to control levels under the normal *** contrast,after prolonged exposure to 100μg/L of TiTiO-NPs,locomotion behavior,pharyngeal pumping rate,intestinal autofluorescence and ROS production of exposed nematodes could not be recovered to control levels under the normal ***,we provided evidence to indicate the great contribution of both defecation and intestinal barrier to recovery response formation for TiO-NPs exposed *** after prolonged exposure to 100μg/L of TiO-NPs exhibited severe deficits in development of AVL and DVB neurons controlling defecation and intestinal structure,whereas nematodes after acute exposure to 100 mg/L of TiO-NPS had the normal developmental state of AVL and DVB neurons and intestinal structure, implying that the structural states of AVL and DVB neurons and intestinal barrier further serves as the pivotal developmental basis for recovery response formation in TiO-NPs exposed animals. Thus,we here elucidate the key underlying mechanism explaining the recovery response of TiO-NPs exposed *** data also imply that maintenance or control of both defecation behavior and primary biological barrier should be carefully considered during the design of prevention strategy or new safe ENMs.

Lake eutrophication,which could be reversed by the establishment of nutrient criteria and control standards,is of great concern to the Chinese government and *** historical and present levels of nitrogen and phosphorus in the 28 lakes of China suggested that the nutrient concentrations in the lakes of Xinjiang and Jiangsu（e.g.,macrophyte-dominated Lake Gucheng and Lake Shijiu） and the deep lakes in Yunnan Province（Lake Fuxian and Lake Lugu） were relative low while they were high in the other ***,nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations are still increasing in most of the lakes except Lake Taihu and Lake Xuanwu.A comparison between the cyanobacteria and macrophyte dominated eutrophication indicated that total phosphorus（TP） concentration was always in high levels throughout the year in cyanobacteria dominated lakes（regions）. Based on the kinetics results of cyanobacterial decomposition and phosphorus release,the phosphorus flow rates in the ecosystems were relatively fast,which resulted in the high dissolved phosphorus concentration,i.e.,the ratios of TDP/TP were all above 30%in different cyanobacteria dominated lakes （regions）.The relatively low phosphorus concentrations appeared during the growth of macrophyte and extremely high TP levels when they were *** relationship between TP and the primary productivities in the lake ecosystems could be simulated with the equation Rmax = k0/（1 -η）(Rmax represents the capacity of changing TP into the actual primary productivity（Chl-a）,k0 is the slope of linear regression between TP and Chl-a for the standing crop of the 28 lakes examined,andηmeans the phosphorus transfer efficiency in the lake ecosystem).Then the equation Rmax= e0.000728Tem was used to describe the relationship between Rmax and the accumulated temperature（Temp）.The phosphorus flows in aqueous ecosystems are slow if Temp is lower than 3400 oC·d,and become fast when Tern is above 4730 oC·d.28 lakes are geographically categoriz
