Pentachlorophenol(PCP) is reported to be an endocrine disruptor,and is also a recognized class 2B carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer(IARC).In present study,the ecological risks posed by PCP in Chinese surface waters were *** was achieved by applying a tiered ecological risk assessment(ERA) approach ranging from deterministic methods to probabilistic options to measured concentrations of PCP in surface water of seven major watersheds and three drainage regions in China and the chronic toxicity data for indigenous Chinese *** results show that the Hazard quotient(HQ) of PCP ranged from 0.01 to 0.12 with an average of *** probability of exceeding the NOEC/10 for 1-5%of the species ranged from 0.08-1.74%for *** a safety factor of 100 was used,the probability increased to 76.3-96.2%.PCP posed little ecological risk in Chinese surface ***,the risks varied with different river basins,for example,PCP posed some ecological risk in the Yangtze,Huaihe,and Pearl *** probabilistic risk assessment approach,which can provide more information for risk managers and decision makers,was favored over the screening-level single-value estimate ***,the results from all tiers of the ERA methods in the framework were consistent with each other.

探讨p38MAPK信号通路在电磁脉冲辐照后小胶质细胞激活中的作用。成年雄性SD大鼠和原代培养的大鼠脑小胶质细胞经200 kV/m EMP辐照200次,辐照后1h、6h、12h和24h取材:1)采用小胶质细胞标志物CD11b免疫组化方法观察小胶质细胞形态学变化;2)应用硝酸酶还原法、ELISA方法检测大鼠大脑皮层及细胞培养上清中N0、TNF-a、IL-10、IL-1β等活性物质含量变化;3)应用蛋白免疫印迹法检测MAPK三条主要通路:p38、ERK、JNK蛋白及其磷酸化蛋白表达水平;4)应用p38特异性抑制剂SB203580在EMP辐照前预处理离体细胞,然后检测辐照后不同时间培养上清中N0、TNF-a、IL-10、IL-1β等活性物质含量。结果发现,EMP辐照后在体和离体培养的小胶质细胞CD11b的表达强度及阳性细胞数目于辐照后1h即明显增加,6h达峰值,12 h开始恢复,24h恢复至假辐照水平。EMP辐照后大鼠大脑皮层和离体细胞培养上清中N0和TNF-a等活性物质含量亦发生了明显改变,且在24h内恢复到假辐照水平。EMP辐照后大鼠大脑皮层及离体培养小胶质细胞的p38及磷酸化p38蛋白表达水平明显升高,24h内恢复到假辐照水平,ERK和JNK蛋白水平无明显变化,应用SB203580预处理细胞部分阻止了EMP辐照引起的小胶质细胞分泌NO、TNF-a等活性物质的变化。上述研究结果表明:EMP辐照既可以诱导大鼠脑小胶质细胞活化并影响其分泌功能;p38通路参与了EMP诱导的脑小胶质细胞的活化及分泌功能的变化。

With the rapid increase in pesticide production and use in China,there has been growing concern about the potential impact of pesticide exposure on the surface water and aquatic organism in the *** organism criteria are the scientific basis to formulate water quality standard,which play an important role in water quality ***,research of aquatic organism criteria for pesticide is still in the early stages in *** this basis,study on the aquatic organism criteria for Endosulfan in the Yangtze River Delta Region was conducted. Endosulfan is a pesticide which has been widely concerned due to its high toxicity and persistence, it was included in the list of Stockholm convention on POPs in ***,Endosulfan is still in production and use in the Yangtze River Delta Region where is not only the area with most concentrated pesticide production enterprises,but also the area with high rates of pesticide *** this study,15 kinds of representative aquatic organisms of Yangtze River Delta Region were selected,among which,there were 11 species of freshwater animals in 11 different families,2 freshwater algae in 2 different families,and 2 vascular plants in the family *** toxicity data of Endosulfan to the aquatic organisms was obtained through acute and chronic tests, and then Toxicity Percentile Rank method(the USEPA methodology,1985) was used to derive the aquatic organism criteria for *** results showed that Final Acute Value was 0.72μg/L,Final Chronic Value was 0.039μg/L,and Final Plant Value was 3.6 mg/*** to Toxicity Percentile Rank method,the acute criterion was equal to one-half the Final Acute Value, and the chronic criterion was equal to the lowest value of the Final Chronic Value and the Final Plant *** the acute and chronic criteria for Endosulfan in the Yangtze River Delta Region were 0.36μg/L and 0.039μg/L *** results of this study could be used in formulating water quality s

To explore the toxic effects of paraquat on aquatic plants at the level of community, two floating plants（Spirodela polyrrhiza,Lemna minor）and two submerged ones （Ceratophyllum demersum,Potamogeton crispus）,which occur at the same community with different layers in the wild,were selected as tested species in this *** results showed that: （1） after 96 hours treatment,four plants displayed different *** them,the most serious species was Potamogeton crispus,Ceratophyllum demersum in the second place, Lemna minor in the third,and finally Spirodela polyrrhiza;（2） their chlorophyll content all significantly decreased with increasing paraquat concentration,and after four days of treatments significant negative correlations were shown between chlorophyll content and paraquat concentration for all species（P<0.05）;according to chlorophyll content,in terms of Chronic value（ChV ） Spirodela polyrrhiza was 3.050μg·L but Lemna minor and Ceratophyllum demersum were 0.96μg·***,the former was 3.18 times as that of the latter two. However,the ChVof Potamogeton crispus was only 0.307μg·L;（3） except for Potamogeton crispus,the SOD,POD,CAT and soluble protein content rose at first and fell subsequently with increasing paraquat concentration;（4） by applying subordination function method,the analysis of antioxidases showed that their values of U（X） in order were Potamogeton crispus（0.8405）, Ceratophyllum demersum（0.525l）,Lemna minor（0.4952） and Spirodela polyrrhiza（0.114） ***,this implied that the toxic effect of paraquat on submerged plants, whether by the macro-observation or physiological test,was greater than that of floating plants.

Microcystins produced by toxic cyanobacteria in freshwater ecosystems can present a harmful effect on growth and development of terrestrial plants through irrigation with contaminated water,but its phytotoxic effects on photosynthesis of plants are seldom *** this study,the phytotoxic effects and possible action mechanism of microcystin-LR(MC-LR) on the photosynthesis rice(Oryza sativa ***) was *** growth and development, photosynthetic indicators including the net photosynthesis rate,stomatal conductance, intercellular carbon dioxide concentration and transpiration rate,as well as the ultrastuctural alteration of rice leaves were investigated when rice were exposed to 0,0.1,1,10,100,500μg/l of MC-LR for 21 *** show that the boveground biomass and plant height of rice were reduced significantly under the exposure of 1μg/l *** stomatal conductance, intercellular carbon dioxide concentration and transpiration rate were significantly inhibited by 46.6%,8.44%and 44.0%,respectively,in the group of 0.1μg/l MC-LR,while the net photosynthesis rate was significantly inhibited by 39.9%in 100μg/l *** higher MC-LR exposure,a significant decrease of Ch1a content accompanied by a increase of Ch1b content were observed revealed that MC-LR may cause a change in the pigment *** subcellular damages such as condensed chromatin and swollen or even disrupted thylakoids of chloroplast could be observed in mesophyll cells due to MC-LR exposure(>1μg/l).These results implied that the inhibition of photosynthesis might be an important action mechanism of MC-LR on terrestrial plants,inducing retardance in the growth and development of plants.

Effective screening approaches are needed to address the application of detailed health risk and impact assessment towards the most critical environmental contaminants and risk *** this purpose,a "Risk-based Tool for the Regional Ranking of Environmental Chemical Stressors" has been developed to support decision-makers in identifying at the regional scale priority environmental contaminants,as well as priority areas,to be further investigated. This screening tool is based on the integration of three types of information,identified as "Lines of Evidence",namely:a) LoE "Environmental Contamination",providing information about potential population exposure through environmental contamination data in the region of interest;(b) LoE "Intake",including results from biomonitoring surveys(*** concentrations in human biological matrices) and supporting the knowledge on actual population exposure to chemicals;(c) LoE "Observed Effects",including information on the incidence of adverse health outcomes associated to exposure to environmental *** the proposed tool, a Weight-of Evidence approach has been implemented through an ad-hoc Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis methodology for integrating the information related to the three LoEs for each chemical stressor. The tool provides the user with a ranking of chemical stressors at the regional level as well as within each sub-area(e.g.,counties or provinces).Moreover,it supports the identification of priority sub-areas within the region,where environmental and health data suggest possible health effects and thus policy actions,sensibilisation or more investigation efforts may be necessary. The performance of the tool has been tested on a case-study in the region of Flanders (Belgium).Data on surface soil contamination by metals and organic contaminants have been integrated with data on exposure biomarkers and data on health effects measured in adolescents within the framework of the biomonitoring campai

Organophosphorous（OP） pesticides had been largely produced and utilized in China. For single pesticides,the individual toxicities has been well ***,however, frequently occur as mixtures in the various water *** pesticide mixtures had significantly threatened the aquatic organisms with high ecological risk even if at environmentally relevant low concentrations. The toxicities of five OP pesticides including dichlorvos,parathion,methyl parathion, malathion and dimethoate and their mixtures to Daphnia magna were measured,*** systematically explore the toxicity of OP mixtures with the concentration variation,the uniform design method with less experimental effort was used to design the OP pesticide *** the mixtures were also designed by the classic equivalent-effect concentration ratio method. Based on the concentration-response curve（CRC） of the single pesticides,two models had been employed for predicting the total toxicity of all the mixtures:concentration addition（CA） in case of similarly acting substances and independent action（IA） in case of mixture sharing dissimilarly acting mechanism. Our results showed that the acute toxicity order of five OP pesticides to Daphnia magna was dichlorvos> parathion> methyl parathion> malathion> dimethoate,when the negative logarithmic of EC effect(pEC) selected as the toxic *** can exactly predicted the effects of all mixtures much better than *** the model deviation rate（MDR） represents the deviation between the effect concentrations predicted by CA or IA and the observed concentrations,the mean MDR value of CA at the different effect levels was 0.93 while the MDR of IA was 3.13, indicating that CA can predict the joint toxicity of OP pesticides to Daphnia magna.

Rice is one of the most important food crops in China,and is commonly cultivated in large river *** those areas,the extensive use of pesticides may pose adverse effect on water quality of the rivers ***,it would be necessary to conduct pesticide risk assessment at a basin-scale ***,a watershed-scale scenario was developed to represent the specific soil,water,climate and agricultural management practices of rice cultivation in East Tiaoxi river basin of Zhejiang Hangzhou.A 1500-ha rice-cultivated basin was simulated using a combination of a rice water quality model(RICEWQ v 1.90) and a surface water quality model(EXAMS v 2.98.04) *** mass releases from paddies were utilized as inputs to a large river(20m width×5km length×2m depth).In order to validate the established model and scenario system,monitoring studies were conducted during 2008, 2009 and 2010 in the Tiaoxi river basin of *** of the 90th percentile of maximum daily river predicted exposure concentrations(PECs) with the maximum measured concentrations of chlorpyrifos in the Tiaoxi River revealed acceptable ***,the derived PECs through modelling,and eco-toxicological endpoints obtained from the literature, were used to calculate acute and chronic risk quotients(RQs) for aquatic *** risk assessment suggested that chlorpyrifos may pose marginal risk to aquatic invertebrates and low risk to most other aquatic *** study could provide useful reference for the development of similar representative scenarios in China.

abstract In the EU,there are various legislative frameworks addressing endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs),*** regulations on industrial chemicals(REACH),plant protection products(PPPs),and biocides as well as the guideline on the environmental risk assessment of medicinal products for human use(pharmaceuticals).Developing identification criteria for EDCs is a focus for the EU. Meanwhile,international organisations like WHO/UNEP and OECD have published documents on *** paper summarizes recent activities related to addressing EDCs and scientific challenges. Current activities Several documents have been published,including a report on the implementation of the Community Strategy for Endocrine Disruptors;State-of-the-art of the assessment of endocrine disrupters(from DG ENV);The impacts of endocrine disrupters on wildlife,people and their environments The Weybridge+15(1996-2011) report(from EEA).Several European Commisison expert groups have been formed,including the 'Ad-hoc group' for bringing science and policy together,and JRC and EFSA expert groups for discussing horizontal scientific identification *** chemicals have been listed under REACH as Substances of very high concern(SVHC) of an equivalent level of concern due to the endocrine disrupting *** OECD is focusing on the following five aspects concerning EDCs:l)The conceptual framework was revised;2) Test guidelines including different biomarkers for elucidating MOAs and apical endpoints have been validated and developed;3) A guidance document on standardised test guidelines for evaluating chemicals for endocrine disruption was published;4) A detailed review paper on novel in vitro and in vivo screening and testing methods and endpoints for evaluating endocrine disruptors was released;5) adverse outcome pathways(AOPs).The WHO/UNEP has revised the "Global assessment of the state-of-the-science of endocrine disruptors" In addition,the endocrine disruptor screening program(EDSP)
