Biomanufacturing encompasses a broad filed of biomaterial design,biomodeling,medical device development,and the utilization of living cells and/or protein as building blocks for novel biological *** for manufacturing medical devices,implants,tissue scaffolds,and disease/drug models has facilitated the development of this emerging *** presentation will report our recent work on Biomanufacturing,including applications of using enabling Computer-Aided Technologies(CAD/CAM),Rapid Prototyping,and Micro-Nano Fabrication for modelling,design and manufacturing of tissue scaffolds and *** of computer-aided tissue engineering will be given,along with the presentation of specific research and development on load-bearing tissue scaffold design,biopolymer-based tissue scaffold fabrication,bioprinting of living cells for construction of micro-organ for drug metabolism study,and multi-scale modelling and simulation of bioprinting-induced mechanical perturbation to living cells.A few personal thoughts on the interface of engineering and life sciences,as well as the challenges and the opportunities of new paradigm of Biomanufacturing in the field of tissue science and engineering will also be shared.
