Bacterial competition is ubiquitous in nature where environments fluctuate and resources are limited.A central question underlying this phenomenon is: How do individual species play strategies to outcompete others? Here we constructed a two-species population dynamics model to mimic bacterial growth in resource-limited fluctuating environments and employed it to search for optimal exploitative competition strategies.
