A novel red-pink pigmented strain,designated R2-4,was isolated from a glacial front soil near Ny-Alesund,Svalbard Archipelago,*** cells were Gram-staining-negative and rod-shaped. Growth occurred at 4-30℃（optimum,20-22℃）,at pH 6.0-9.0（optimum,pH 7.0） and with 0%Nacl. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain R2-4 belonged to the genus *** 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between strain R2-4 and type strains of related species ranged from 94.51 to 96.08%.Strain R2-4 contained iso- and anteiso-branched C15 fatty acids, summed feature 3（16:1ω6c and/orω7c ）,summed feature 4（17:1 anteiso Band/or iso I） and the unsaturated fatty acid 16:1ω5c as the major cellular fatty acids,MK-7 as the major respiratory quinine, phosphatidylethanolamine（PE） as the main polar *** DNA G+C content of strain R2-4 was 61.6mol%.On the basis of phylogenetic,physiological and chemotaxonomic data,strain R2-4 is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Hymenobacter,for which the name Hymenobacter articus sp.,*** proposed,The type strain is R2-4（CCTCC AB 2012104=KACC 16881）.

Members of the Achromobacter genus are Gram-negative bacteria including both environmental and clinical isolates,which are increasingly recovered from patients with cystic fibrosis(CF) as the emerging *** better understand the features of the genus and its potential pathogenic mechanisms,6 available Achromobacter genomes were compared in this *** results revealed that:i) Achromobacter had a pan-genome size of 10,750 genes with 3,398 core genes,and a similar global classification of protein functions;ii) the Achromobacter genomes underwent a relatively low recombination that introduced nearly twice nucleotide substitutions less than the point mutation in genome evolution;iii) phylogenomic analysis based on 436 conserved proteins and average nucleotide identity (ANI) both indicated that the Achromobacter genus had the closest relationship to the human/animal pathogen Bordetella rather than to *** entire group of Achromobacter clustered with Bordetella in phylogeny,strongly suggesting a common origin,which therefore highlighted the potentially pathogenic nature of Achromobacter from the phylogenetic perspective;and iv) the CF clinical isolate possessed markedly unique genomic features discriminated from the environmental isolate,and was equipped with numerous factors that facilitate its adaptation to a pathogenic lifestyle,such as a typeⅢsecretion system,a 'polysaccharide island'(36.0 kb) of capsular/cellulose synthesis,adhesion related proteins,alcaligin biogenesis and several putative *** study provided the first comprehensive genomic comparative analysis for Achromobacter,revealed information to better understand this far less known genus on the genomic scale,and,importantly,identified potential virulence factors of the Achromobacter pathogen.

The diversity of fungal communities associated with biological soil crusts in arid and semiarid regions are one of the least explored *** particular,the Tegger desert in China remains mycologically poorly *** this study,we investigate the diversity of fungal communities associated with different crusts(i.e.,cyanobacterial crusts,moss crusts and lichen crusts) at five locations in Shapotou Region using cultivation and 454 pyrosequencing.A total of 300 isolates were recovered and 141 isolates were phylogenetically affiliated to 84 different taxa within 34 different genera with >50%of the total isolates belonging to Alternaria,Aspergillus,Chaetomium,Cladosporium,Coniothyrium, Cryptococcus,Emericella,Fusarium,Penicillium and Phoma.A total of 50,223 sequence reads were obtained with Ascomycota,Basidiomycota and Chytridiomycota encompassing >96%of the total sequences. Fungal communities showed high diversity;the 50,223 sequence reads belonged to 1362 *** these, 938 belonged to the phylum Ascomycota,121 to the phylum Basidiomycota,2 to the phylum Zygomycota, 9 to the phylum Chytridiomycota,and 292 to unknown *** detected fungi confirmed earlier trends in fungal diversity in other habitats,quite a number of sequences representing novel taxa were *** conclude that desert crusts in the Shapotou Region harbor a large diversity of fungal communities that varies with crust type and desert locations.

Abstract:The genus Pseudoalteromonas,ubiquitous in the marine environments,accounts for a significant fraction of culturable bacteria isolated from cold marine ***,we isolated a psychrotolerant strain,Pseudoalteromonas ***20308,from seawater of the Chukchi *** was shown to utilize multiple carbon/ nitrogen sources,and can adapt to low temperature(below 0℃to optimum at 15℃).To investigate its ecological role and adaptation to low temperature,here we report the characterization and genome sequencing of Pseudoalteromonas ***20308. Strain BSw20308 was shown to form black pigment on plate and produce various extracellular enzymes,including agarase,amylase,cellulase,lipase and protease,to utilize environmental polysaccharides and proteins for *** draft genome,sequenced on Genome Sequencer FLX,was assembled to be 4.76 Mb,containing 146 contigs(= 500 bp) with an average G+C content of 38.9%.A total of 4,172 ORFs were predicted,including 3,109 ORFs(74.5%) assigned to COG categories,and 1,991 ORFs(47.7%>) found in the KEGG database.A significant amount of COGs belonged to amino acid(9.5%) and carbohydrate(6.6%) transport and *** addition,2.3%of COGs were classified into secondary metabolite *** analyzed in KEGG database,296 and 268 ORFs were involved in carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism respectively,making them the dominant function encoded in the genome as ***,it suggests the importance of protein and carbohydrate metabolism in strain BSw20308,consistent with the ability to produce various extracellular proteolytic enzymes and glycoside hydrases to live on multiple carbon and nitrogen *** annotation revealed multiple genes encoding same glycoside hydrases with different substrate specificity to enable degradation of a full range of substrates,e.g.,multiple agarases and glucanases from GH16 *** addition,signal transduction and secondary metabolite biosynthesis were two important fu

Members of the genus Clostridium are ubiquitous chemoorganotrophic microorganisms and are one of the largest genera of the prokaryotes .An obligate anaerobic,Gram-positive,spore-forming,rod-shaped bacterium,designated LAM201,was isolated from alkaline-saline lake sediment from Daqing City,China. Cells of strain LAM201 are straight or spiral rod-shaped with motility by peritrichate *** major fatty acids of strain LAM201 are C(26.7%),C(11.2%),C(5.4%) andω9c- C(4.5%).Strain LAM201 can utilize D-Fyuctose,L-Fucose,D-Galacturonic acid,D-Galactose,D-Glucosaminic acid, Dextrin,D-Glucose-6-phosphate,D-mannose,Palatinose,L-Rhamnose as sole carbon *** of glucose fermentation are ethanol,acetic acid,isobutanoic acid and isovaleric *** sulfite can be used as electron *** G+C content of genomic DNA is 32%as determined by Tm *** on the comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis,the isolate belongs to the genus Clostridium,and is most closely related to strain *** DSM 797with 97.2%similarity,the DNA-DNA hybridization value between LAM201and *** DSM 797 is 37%.On the basis of these results, strain is proposed to represent a new species of the genus Clostridium and the name Clostridium daqingensis *** suggested,the type strain is LAM201(=ACCC 00717),which is isolated from alkaline-saline lake sediment from Daqing City,China.

The seeds of plants are carriers of a variety of beneficial bacteria and *** the non-culture methods of building 16S rDNA libraries,we investigated the endophytic bacterial communities of seeds of four hybrid maize offspring and their respective *** results of this study show that the hybrid offspring Yuyu 23,Zhengdan 958,Jingdan 28 and Jingyu 11 had 3,33,38 and 2 OTUs of bacteria,*** parents Ye 478,Chang 7-2,Zheng 58,Jing 24 and Jing 89 had 12, 36,6,12 and 2 OTUs,*** the hybrid Yuyu 23,the dominant bacterium Pantoea(73.38%) was detected in its female parent Ye 478,and the second dominant bacterium of Sphingomonas(26.62%) was detected in both its female(Ye 478) and male(Chang 7-2) *** the hybrid Zhengdan 958,the first dominant bacterium Stenotrophomonas(41.67%) was detected in both the female(Zheng 58) and male(Chang 7-2) *** second dominant bacterium Acinetobacter(9.26%) was also the second dominant bacterium of its male *** the hybrid Jingdan 28,the second dominant bacterium Pseudomonas(12.78%) was also the second dominant bacterium of its female parent,and its third dominant bacterium Sphingomonas(9.90%) was the second dominant bacterium of its male parent and detected in its female *** the hybrid Jingyu 11,the first dominant bacterium Leclercia(73.85%) was the third dominant bacterium of its male parent,and the second dominant bacterium Enterobacter (26.15%) was detected in its male *** far as we know,this was the first research reported in China on the diversity of the endophytic bacterial communities of the seeds of various maize hybrids with different genotypes.

A novel aerobic bacterium,designated strain LAM612,was isolated from saline and alkaline soil in Shandong Province,*** of strain LAM612 were Gram-positive,endospore-forming,motile and *** range of temperature,pH and NaCl concentration for growth were 15℃to 55°C,6.0 to 7.0, and 0 to 10%*** optimal conditions were 30℃to 35℃,6.0 to 7.0 and 3%of NaCl, *** analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain LAM612 was closely related to *** KCTC 13296,*** KCTC 13178,*** KCTC 13423,and *** LMG 18474,with 98.0%,97.4%,97.2%,and 97.0%similarity,respectively. The major fatty acids of strain LAM0725 were iso-C（35.2%）,iso-C（17.3%）,anteiso-C（9.3%） and iso-C（5.0%）.The predominant menaquinones of strain LAM612 was menaquinone 7（MK-7）.The main polar lipids of strain LAM612T were diphosphatidylglycerol,phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine,and six unknown *** genomic G+C content was 36.4 mol%as detected by Tm *** on the results of DNA-DNA hybridization and differential phenotypic properties,strain LAM612 could be distinguished from recognized species of the genus Lysinibacillus and was suggested to represent a novel species,for which the name Lysinibacillus huakuii *** proposed. The type strain is LAM612（=ACCC0718）.

Sodium and divalent cations are involved in cohesion of the bacterial biofilms formation. However,the effects of sodium,magnesium,and calcium ions on biofilm formed by Cronobacter sakazakii strains are not *** biofilm-forming ability of 23 Cronobacter sakazakii strains was assessed at different NaCl（0.00%,0.25%,0.50%,1.50%,2.00%,w/v）,MgCk（0.00%,0.25%,0.50%,1.00%,1.50%, w/v） and CaCh（0.00%,0.25%,0.50%,1.00%,1.50%,w/v）.Biofilm formed by Cronobacter sakazakii strains was evaluated in tryptone soy broth in 96-well plates using crystal violet staining and its quantification was counted using the optical density measurements(OD) at 28℃for 24h of incubation. The tested strains formed biofilms under different cation concentrations,the mean OD values depended on the strains and evaluated cations *** NaCl concentration（0.50%） in TSB reduced significantly the biofilm formation,while 1.50%NaCl promoted it in 14 *** the increasing MgCl concentrations ranging from 0.25%to 1.50%,the amount of biofilms formed by 17 strains increased *** addition,it would firstly promote biofilm formation and later inhibit biofilm formation with the increasing CaCl *** accessed cations concentrations,most of Cronobacter sakazakii formed highest amount of biioflims at 1.50%NaCl（Mstrains,61%）,1.50% MgCl)（17strains,74%） and 0.50%CaCl（10strains,43.4%）.The findings of present study provide useful information or new strategies for control and prevention of detrimental biofilm in powdered milk formed by Cronobacter sakazakii.

A Gram-negative bacterium,strain 9NM-10,was isolated from an abandoned lead-zinc ore in Meizhou,Guangdong province,south *** isolate was yellow-pigmented,strictly aerobic,motile, oxidase-negative,catalase-positive and *** 9NM-10 grew optimally at pH 7.0 and 30℃and in the absence of NaCl on R2A *** of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain 9NM-10 belongs to the genus Sphingomonas,clustered with Sphingomonas japonica DSM 22753 with highest sequence similarity（97.56%）.The chemotaxonomic properties of strain 9NM-10 were consistent with members of the genus *** predominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone Q-10,and the major cellular fatty acids were Cω7c（58.69%）,C（13.96%）,Cω6c（7.91%）,Cω7c and/or Cω6c（5.42%）,11-methyl Cω7c（4.49%） and C2-OH（3.18%）.The genomic DNA G+C content of strain 9NM-10 was 68.7 mol%.On the basis of phenotypic and phylogenetic characteristics,with low DNA-DNA relatedness（35.38±0.84%）,strain 9NM-10 should be considered to represent a novel species of the genus Sphingomonas,for which the name Sphingomonas mineralensis *** *** type strain is 9NM-10（=GIMCC 1.657= CGMCC 1.12673 = DSM 27571）.
