There has been little study of the biogeography of soil archaeal communities on a regional *** a previous study,we found that variation in bacterial communities on the Tibetan Plateau was strongly determined by soil C:N ***,using an 16 SrRNA archaeal primer,we characterized the archaeal communities of 94 Tibetan soil samples scattered across an area of 1,000,000 *** results showed that Thaumarchaeota(79.27%) and Halobacteria(8.75%) were the dominant phyla across all the soils,together accounting for at least 88%of the archaeal reads in every *** terms of alpha diversity,OTU and phylogenetic diversity(PD) were both negatively correlated with soil moisture(r=-0.47,P < 0.01;r=-0.35,P< 0.01,respectively),and soil moisture also had a significant influence on soil archaeal community *** distance,a potential measure of the legacy effect of evolutionary and dispersal factors,was less important than measured environmental factors in determining the broad scale archaeal community pattern across the Tibetan *** close correlation was encountered between soil bacterial diversity and archaeal *** findings provide new insights into the ecology of soil archaea in semi-arid environments,for example the strong influence of soil moisture on archaeal community composition and *** correlations may allow better prediction of future responses of soil archaea to environmental change.

The trasfer risk of cadmium(Cd) accumulated in stems and leafs of fruiting vegetables,which are generally considered to be more suitable to plant on Cd-contaminated farms,is a major issue encountered with the usage of such non-edible *** 8-week pot experiment was conducted to investigate the acquisition and translocation of Cd by cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.) plant on an unsterilized Cd-contaminated(1.6 mg kg) soil in response to inoculating arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungus,Funneliformis caledonium(Fc) or Glomus versiforme(Gv).Compared with the non-inoculated control,both Fc and Gv inoculations significantly increased(P<0.05) root mycorrhizal colonization rates and phosphorus(P) acquisition efficiencies,and total P acquisitions and biomasses of cucumber plants,while only Fc inoculation significantly increased(P<0.05) soil acid phosphatase activity and available P *** Fc and Gv inoculations significantly increased(P<0.05) P translocation factors from root to shoot,inducing significantly higher(P<0.05) shoot P concentrations and shoot/root biomass ratios relative to the *** contrast,both Fc and Gv inoculations significantly decreased(P<0.05) root and shoot Cd concentrations,causing significantly increased(P<0.05) P/Cd concentration ratios in both root and shoot,while only Gv inoculation significantly decreased(P<0.05) root Cd acquisition efficiency and increased(P<0.05) Cd translocation factor from root to *** addition,AM fungal inoculations also tended to decrease soil total and phytoavailable Cd concentrations via elevating plant total Cd acquisitions and soil pH,*** results demonstrated the potential application of AM fungi in the production of low-Cd vegetables,including the non-edible parts,in Cd-contaminated soils.
