Objective:To evaluate the effects of oral Pcptan collagen peptides for 6 months on knee joint pain and function in female patients with knee osteoarthritis(OA).Methods:a prospective. double-blind,randomized,placebo-controlled study was conducted at the 6th People's Hospital affiliated to.100 eligible female OA subjects selected through screening were included in the study and sighed informed *** subjects received either Peptan collagen peptides(CP) 8g(n=50) or placebo (n=50) daily for 6 *** subject was evaluated for knee joint pain and function by using the standard tools(WOMAC scores and Lysholm scores) and assessment the joint symptoms and physical function at the baseline(month 0),and months 3 and ***: The data from all subjects(n=95) were evaluated. WOMAC score and Lysholm score showed statistically significant difference with the CP group(n=48) compared with the placebo group(n=47) who treated for 6 months:CP group vs placebo group (WOMAC score 11.33±4.28 vs 15.00±3.45) and Lysholm score 85.24±8.88 vs 79.73±9.62)(PO.001). However,no significant difference between two groups for 3 months was found(P>0.05).Moreover, the proportion of clinical effect was also found significant difference between the placebo group and the CP group. Conclusion:our study suggested that taking collagen peptides 8g/d for 6 months can improve knee joint pain and function in subjects with knee osteoarthritis.

Sclerostin is a negative regulator of bone *** studies demonstrated that treatment with a sclerostin monoclonal antibody(Scl-Ab) results in significantly increased bone formation,bone mass and strength in rat closed fracture model(1-2).However,the effects of Scl-Ab on healing of open fracture model have not yet been reported in *** objective of our project is to investigate the effects of systemic administration of Scl-Ab on fracture repair in rat femur open fracture,a more challenging clinical situations compare with closed fracture healing. We used a total 120 six-month-old male SD rats were used for transverse osteotomy at the mid-shaft of right femur to mimic clinical open fracture,and then were treated with vehicle or Scl-Ab at 25 mg/kg, twice per week for 3,6 or 9 *** radiography was performed to monitor repair progress. Micro-computed tomography(Micro-CT),micro-CT based angiography,four-point bending mechanical test and histological assessment were carried out to evaluate the fracture healing. Micro-CT analysis showed Scl-Ab treatment groups had significantly higher callus volume fraction (16-23%,P<0.01) and bone mineral density(BMD)(15-16%,P<0.01) in week 3,6 and 9 compared to their vehicle ***-CT based angiography showed that Scl-Ab treatment groups significantly enhanced neovasculation at the fracture callus at week ***-point bending test showed significantly higher ultimate load in Scl-Ab treatment group than vehicle treatment group at 6 weeks(+98%,P<0.01) and 9 weeks(+53%,P<0.01) *** analysis also revealed more bony tissue in calluses as early as week 3 post-operation in the Scl-Ab treatment group.
