The lateral dynamic features of a railway vehicle are investigated using two similar wheel/rail contact models:the Vermeulen-Johnson and the Shen-Hedrick-Elkins *** symmetric/asymmetric bifurcation behaviour and chaotic motions of the railway vehicle are investigated in great detail by varying the speed and using the'resultant bifurcation diagram'*** is found that multiple solution branches exist and they can lead to more steady states in the dynamic behaviour of the railway *** coexistence of multiple steady states can lead to jumps in the amplitude of oscillations,resulting in problems for safe operation of the ***,it should be avoided in everyday ***,the creation of multiple solution branches suggests that the critical speed of a vehicle should be determined from a comprehensive analysis of the various kinds of possible excitations and numerous tests.

According to the classical Duffing and van der pol systems,the four-order coupled fast-slow Duffing-van der pol system with external periodic excitation has been proposed in this *** using fast-slow dynamics analysis the whole system is divided into four-dimensional autonomous fast subsystem and one-dimensional slow *** applying two-parameter bifurcations analysis,the parameter plane,whose abscissa axis is the whole excitation term and vertical axis is the coupling coefficient,is divided into several regions corresponding to the different kinds of bifurcation *** investigation of complex bursting phenomena,including symmetric or asymmetric fold/fold bursting and supHopf/supHopf bursting,are found in this *** the two-parameter plane,the transitions of bursting activities can be determined by the curves and/or points of the codimension-1 and codimension-2 bifurcations of the fast *** is observed that the dynamical mechanism of the different kind of bursting is closely in connection with the kind of bifurcations of the fast *** on the analysis of the transformed phase portraits and the period of the cycles,four kinds of periodic bursting phenomena as well as their bifurcations mechanisms have been analyzed in details.

In this paper,we consider a delay-coupled neural oscillator system with inhibitory-toinhibitory *** effects of coupled weights and multiple delays are *** follows that increasing coupled weights bring the multiple coexistences with stable and unstable equilibria by multiple pitchfork ***,multiple delays stabilize the unstable equilibria to the different stable periodic ***,neural oscillator system exhibits the multiperiodicity *** this end,we firstly study the equilibria properties and give some equilibria *** system has a single trivial equilibrium and pairs of synchronous or anti-synchronous nontrivial *** the multiple pitchfork bifurcations of trivial and nontrivial equilibria,we find that there have one,three,five and nine equilibria for the increasing coupled *** neural oscillator system exhibits multiple equilibria ***,by the corresponding characteristic equation,the effects of coupled delays on stable and unstable equilibria are *** find that the stable equilibria keep their stability for the increasing delay,which is called the delay-independent ***,for the unstable equilibria,coupled delay suppresses their trajectories into the different stable periodic ***,the neural oscillator system exhibits the stability coexistences with multiple equilibria and multiperiodicities.

The Adenosine triphosphate(ATP),released from astrocytes,has been demonstrated to be critical for the propagating of the calcium *** ATP-induced calcium wave has long been defined to process in the subpopulation of astrocytes,which can respond to ATP from other astrocytes by purinergic receptors on their cell ***,this concept has been challenged by the experimental discovery that some neurons can respond to ATP from asctrocyte,and release glutamate that can directly activate IP3 receptors on the surfaces of these *** these experimental discoveries have offered us a concept that the neuronal network has played a significant role in the ATP-induced calcium *** this paper,we have proposed a reaction-diffusion kinetic model of ATP in an astrocyte-neuron network,and investigated the firing properties of the neuronal network and its role in the propagating of the calcium ***,we also introduced the correlation matrix theory to investigate the synchronization transitions of the calcium waves,and have found that the formation of calcium waves corresponds to an abrupt synchrony transition in the population of astrocytes.

As the core part of aircraft,the vibration mechanism and control of aero-engine is of great *** the active control method is hard to apply due to the complex structure and working environment of aero-engine,the passive vibration isolators are usually *** elastic ring squeeze film damper(ERSFD)is an effective and simple design and the ERSFDs were already used in aircraft engine *** of the elastic ring plays a very important role in suppressing the rotor *** paper proposes a method to calculate the deformation of the elastic ***,the coupled oil film Reynolds equations and dynamic equations of an ERSFD supported rotor system are *** finite differential method and numerical simulation are used to analyze the oil film pressure distribution,bearing capacity of ERSFD,oil film stiffness and damping characteristics during a vibration ***,based on the oil film pressure results,the deformation of elastic ring is revealed by the finite element *** the same time,the deformation of the elastic ring is investigated through closed cylindrical shell theory,whose result corresponds with the finite element result well.

After revisiting a general three dimensional three-scroll chaotic system,more rich dynamics hiding and not found previously of it are clearly *** more rigorous mathematical work,such as for the complete distribution and the local stability and bifurcation of its equilibrium points,and the dynamics at infinity,is mainly carried out in this ***,numerical simulations not only support all analytical results obtained,but also further illustrate other interesting dynamical behaviors,including two heteroclinic orbits to E and Eand their bifurcated chaotic attractors,infinite many degenerate heteroclinic cycles and two-scroll and three-scroll chaotic attractors near *** particular,a possible new mechanism behind the creation of three-scroll chaotic attractors is *** on it,some new three-scroll chaotic attractors are numerically found in the case of small f>*** results clearly show that the system deserves further detailed investigation in future work.

This paper investigates computationally the chaotic saddles in a nonlinear vibro-impact *** a classical Duffing vibro-impact oscillator,we employ the bisection procedure and the improved stagger-and-step method to present evidence of visual chaotic saddles on the fractal basin boundary and in the internal basin,*** study shows that the unstable period orbits play an important role in the evolution of chaotic *** unstable periods created through a saddle-node bifurcation not only fill the "gaps" right after the chaotic crisis,but also are responsible for the switch between the internal chaotic saddle and the boundary chaotic ***,a novel phenomenon of chaotic saddle crisis is unfolded,that is,the chaotic saddle on the basin boundary can be decomposed into two different chaotic *** two chaotic saddles are located on the basin boundary and in the internal basin respectively,and are connected by a coupling unstable periods on the basin ***,these unstable periods fill the "gaps" right after the rupture of chaotic saddle.

A numerical investigation of complex bursting oscillations caused by the transition of the system trajectories among multi-stabilities is revealed in this *** on Chua's circuit,the three-order piecewise smooth circuit system with single non-smooth boundary has been established in this ***,by parallels connecting periodically alternated voltage source as well as suitable values for the parameters to ensure that there exists order gap between the natural frequency and the exited frequency,a two time-scales,namely,a fast-slow coupled system has been *** on the generalized autonomous system,the stabilities of the equilibrium points are invested in each region from which the critical conditions related to different bifurcation behaviors are *** the same time,combing the theory of Clarke differential inclusions to analyze which type of non-conventional bifurcation may occur when the trajectory passes across the non-smooth ***,combing generalized phase portraits,two types of periodic bursting phenomenon,namely,symmetric fold/fold and symmetric fold/supHopf/fold/subHopf/subHopf periodic bursters as well as their bifurcation mechanisms have been analyzed in details.
