Forest age is a crucial parameter on evaluating carbon sequestration potential of forest ecosystems at regional *** this study,a downscaling technique that combined the fifth countrywide forest inventories with satellite-based AVHRR-NDVI data at growing season were used to estimate the spatial patterns of forest age in China and,as a result,the provincial-level statistics of forest age derived from the dominant species were downscaled to a 8-km spatial-explicit *** results indicated that forest ages in China were highly spatially *** southeast regions had the lowest mean forest ages with values ranging from 20 to 30 years; the central regions of Sichuan province and the northwest regions of Xinjiang had the highest forest ages with values higher than 120 years; the other regions of China,such as the southeast regions of Tibet,the northwest regions of Heilongjiang province,the northeast regions of Inner Mongolia,and the southern region of Yunnan province,had the moderate forest ages with values ranging from 70 to 120 *** the whole China,the forest ages of most of spatial grids ranged from 10 to 80 years that accounted for 85.4% of total forest area,in which 35.3% forests have ages ranged from 20 to 40 *** probability distribution of ages for all forest in China showed a single peak but non-normal distribution,with a total averaged age of 40.6 years and a standard deviation of 26.6 years.

In this presentation,I will examine the Israeli political culture,which has molded political struggles in Israeli-Jewish society over the future of the territories that Israel occupied in 1967,especially the West Bank,and settlement activities *** the logic of state requires clear demarcation of space by borders,this political culture has constituted the settlement aspiration and territorial obsession of Israeli Jewish society and stimulated its socio-territorial expansion into the Occupied ***,Israeli politics regarding the Occupied Territories and Jewish settlements cannot be characterized by the “crisis” caused by messianic settlement movement called Gush Emunim and its splinters,as often argued by the mainstream Israeli *** explanations are merely a part of the exhausting Zionist’s efforts to hide the ethno-nationalistic,settler-colonial nature of Zionism and the State of Israel,presenting the latter as “Western” and “democratic”.It will be argued that the real issue regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has always been,since (even before) the establishment of the State of Israel,the ethno-centric Zionist ideology and practices of creating the Jewish ethno-national state in Erets Israel/Palestine without or with minimum number of indigenous *** creeping annexation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip after 1967 thus just fastened the time when Zionists face this crucial but inevitable political-moral *** the presentation,I will first discuss a territorial aspect of *** that,I will explain the theory of settler-immigrant society and criteria and advantages of applying it to the case of the Jewish society in Palestine/***,I will discuss what kind of political culture was formed from a mixture of ethno-nationalism and settler-immigrant character of the society and how it has molded political struggles over the Occupied Territories.

The spatial mismatch theory developed in western urban literature has drawn much attention to adverse impacts of employment decentralization and housing segregation on disadvantaged population such as ethnic minorities and low-income *** scholars have noticed the trend of home-work separation in Chinese cities in the complex context of urban spatial restructuring and market transition,but most have only used commuting behavior as an *** enough attention has been given to the spatial inequality implication in the spatial mismatch debate,and its implications for low-income *** this paper,we calculate the job accessibility index for each sub-district (jiedao) as a measure of spatial mismatch in the city of Beijing,using data from the Fifth Population Census and the First Economic *** on data from a 2007 resident survey in Beijing,we then examine the extent to which sub-district job accessibility index may affect individual commuting *** analysis finds that spatial mismatch is emerging in Beijing but exhibits unique spatial patterns as opposed to the US *** analysis shows that job accessibility has no significant impact on commuting time in general,but it shows significantly curve-linear relationship with commuting time of low-income *** job accessibility index may encourage longer commuting by low-income residents up to a certain threshold,beyond which they tend to commute *** concentration of low-income residents and yet higher-wage jobs in inner-city residents,as well as greater reliance on public transportation in Chinense cities,may explain such a complex picture.

In contemporary rural China,migrant workers in urban areas have rapidly increased with the continuous growth of the economy,especially in coastal metropolitan *** China’s costal regions,the economic condition is prosperous;however,the mountainous areas in these regions,which have less-favored conditions,are experiencing a socio-economic transformation and have been negatively affected by an outflow of migrant *** study attempts to clarify why the migrant phenomenon happened and what the most important factor is when migrant workers choose cities and *** focuses on the cause of the increase of migrant workers,the socio-economic features of migrant workers,and the changes the increase has caused in the household ***,it analyzes migrant workers’ working behavior from the viewpoint of their choice of destination and *** author examined a village in the northern region of Fujian *** province is located in a coastal region and is experiencing strong economic *** main research methods used were a questionnaire survey and an investigation of all the households in the *** study area boasts plenty of farmers who produce rice for self-sufficiency and who are involved in the forestry and construction industries,as *** villagers are engaged in small factories that process bamboo and ***,small-scale farming and non farm employment are not sufficient to sustain the household *** lack of employment opportunity led to a sharp increase of migrant workers,especially males aged 20-30 years *** outflow of workers caused changes in cultivated land management,uneven distribution of household income,and the involvement of female workers in the local labor *** selection of destination is determined not only by the workers’ personal networks but also by regional economic growth and abundant employment *** workers mainly choose intra-provincial cities and inter-provincial
