In this paper a moderate technique has been developed to improve an electromagnetic actuation principle for pumping systems, thus obtaining pulsating flow. this work consists of two parts, namely, a numerical part, in which ANSYS software is adopted to simulate the pumping process, while the experimental part consists of the fabrication and testing of the computer controlled electromagnetic pumping system. the objective of this work is to enhance both flow rate and outlet pressure. this was achieved via two main parameters, namely, the electromagnetic pulse duration and the width of each electromagnet. Results show that flow rate and outlet pressure increase with decreasing the pulse duration and with increasing each electromagnet width.

this paper presents the method estimating the contribution of vibration sources in gasoline engine with a multiple input system. Multi Dimensional Spectral analysis (MDSA) has used to identify the cause of a linear dependence indicated by an ordinary coherence function. In order to apply the MDSA to the vibration source identification in gasoline engine, the virtual model of two inputs and single output system is simulated. For the validation of this model, the vibration of alternator was measured by using tri-axial accelerometers attached on the selected vibration source. After calculating the coherence analysis between each source based on the virtual model, the vibration contribution of alternator is calculated.

this paper propose to perform tolerance analysis on compliant structure. the objective is to limit shape defects and connection defects in accordance to mechanical criteria instead of geometrical criteria. the idea is to elaborate a finite element model of the structure and to observe the stress induced by assembling non ideal parts. Firstly, a method to take into account the stiffness variation induced by the shape defects is tested on an elementary example. Secondly this method is applied on an large structure from aeronautical industry with a lot of variability. A method is also presented to find the geometrical defects which are mostly responsible of overloading the connections.

Product data translation is essential for the seamless integration of various product-centric activities. Yet, the process to build translators among different software has been left mostly to individual expertise rather than a formal procedure. In this paper, we propose a framework to automatically determine translation rules to enable translation of instances from one system to another. We use a graph search method to obtain the overall translation rule as a combination of multiple basic functions. We apply this method to a subset of non-geometric product knowledge, such as date of creation, color and name of feature used in two commercial systems. We detect the rules using a manually created training data set and evaluate their correctness manually.

this study proposes a design of transmission mechanism which is referred to as a series-type independently controllable transmission (ICT). the series-type ICT is an alternative form of the parallel-types proposed in the former researches. the series-type ICT can serve as a continuously or an infinitely variable transmission mechanism, and it can also produce a required angular output velocity that can be independently manipulated by a controller and not affected by the angular velocity of the input shaft. the series-type ICT mechanism is composed of two planetary gear trains and two transmission-connecting members. Kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the ICT mechanism are analyzed and their analytical equations are derived for application in this study.

A new variational formulation of coupled thermo-mechanical boundary-value problems has been recently proposed [1, 2], allowing to write mechanical and thermal balance equation under the form of an optimisation problem of a scalar energy-like functional. this functional is analysed in the framework of a thermo-visco-elastic problem, considering a strong coupling by taking into account the temperature dependency of mechanical properties. Different algorithmic schemes were tested, aiming to find the one that exhibits best computational performance. A simplified case shows that the optimum of the scalar energy-like functional is a saddle point.
