In the recent years, topology control problem has been deeply studied for wireless ad hoc and sensor networks. the previous methods often imply that each node knows its precise position information. However, this assumption is not always feasible for the practical platform. Consequently, this paper concerns with the topology control problem without the location information in sensor networks. According to the property of the platform, the discrete neighboring model is first defined for sensor node. then, we design several localized algorithms (namely D-LMST, STWL, etc) to construct the connected or spanner topologies, respectively. Furthermore, we theoretically prove that the proposed STWL algorithm can construct the topology while preserving both geometric spanner and hop spanner. Moreover, we implement the STWL algorithm on the prototype system with 32 MicaZ nodes. the experimental results indicate that STWL algorithm can conserve more than half powers while constructing the spanner with a smaller stretch factor, which indicates the efficiency of the proposals.

More and more companies are adopting the emerging business model usually referred as "Service Virtualization". In service virtualization scenario, resource providers can host third-party services, as long as their resource and security requirements are compatible with those of service providers. XACML is a standard language for access control specification. We propose a complete support system for any number of resource and service providers 1) to specify their access control and resource requirements and 2) to check the compatibility between any set of resource providers and that of service providers. We describe our algorithms and show the efficiency and scalability of our system via testing on simulated policies and policies from Margrave and Fedora Core. Our experimental results show that our performance is fast enough to support realtime resource scheduling. © 2009 ieee.

Next generation of wireless communication systems are engineered to service independent mobile users. these independent mobile users (nodes) are connected by wireless links build a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET). the nodes in this system work together only based on mutual agreement without knowing about the network topology around themselves. Maintaining appropriate quality of service (QoS) for these networks, mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) is a complex task because of the dynamic behavior of the network topology. Moreover, the size of the ad-hoc network is related to the QoS of the network. In addition, mobile ad-hoc networks have a significant role in the future operation of wireless communication systems. Consequently, these networks should be able to provide the required QoS for the users. In this paper we discuss and analyze the dynamic nature of MANETs, and special attention is paid on fundamental problems and issues that occur when trying to provide QoS in this network environment.

this paper investigates the performance and design of a two user satellite communication system. Each user is independently encoded using a structured turbo code with identical symbol interleavers. this permits turbo decoding to be performed using the combined component code trellises, which provides significant gains over independent decoding. the impact of various phase shifts between users is also considered and shows the robustness of the proposed scheme

Embedded real-time systems are ubiquitous in modern society, many of which perform safety-critical functions, and therefore, it is imperative to have tools and techniques that can guarantee a high degree of system correctness. they typically perform information processing on a digital computer tightly coupled with the continuous physical environment. Even though hybrid systems is an active research area, most work has ignored the scheduling behavior of software processes due to contention for the shared CPU resource. We propose an integrated approach based on hybrid automata and model-checking for modeling and analysis of computer-based embedded control systems where real-time scheduling behavior of the controller software is explicitly represented at the model-level, together with the physical environment that it interacts with. An application example is used to demonstrate the benefits of the integrated approach in performing tradeoff analysis involving both the controller software and the controlled physical system. © 2003 ieee.

the possible features of software product line members may vary according to the needs of particular market segments or purposes. the assessment of what will be common and what will be variable may, e.g., result from market strategies. Customer profiles may be used to model an otherwise, anonymous market, each requiring in turn a specific sets of variant features. Identical feature sets may be prioritized in different ways for specific customer groups. this paper proposes a system description based on a feature diagram tree, annotated with weighted variant features in the product line context. the principle how some variant features may be described on the basis of fuzzy logic is introduced and discussed. As the proposed description also integrates the external cross-tree constraints, it leads to an improved homogeneity of the descriptive logic. this opens the opportunity to integrate additional tools into the scenario, e.g., generators or support for constraint based reasoning. the use of the proposed approach is demonstrated by the example of a simple car description.
