the classroom is the most basic and important learning venue for college students. With the development of information technology, various online teaching platforms and mobile apps have been widely used in universities, which has brought great convenience to the teaching and student interaction management of college teachers. However, this management lacks objective data on the performance of students in classroom learning, especially the uneven behavior of vocational college students in the classroom. So this article designs a student classroom learning behavior recognition system based on artificial intelligence technology, which can comprehensively collect and recognize different behaviors of students in the classroom. this helps students better understand their classroom learning status, helps teachers to objectively grasp students' classroom learning situation, and is more conducive to teachers teaching according to their aptitude. © 2024 ACM.

In the context of big data analytics, this study examines the use of algorithms based on deep learning for feature extraction. Traditional methods usually have trouble sifting through the complexity and volume of data to find the important elements. We investigate the application of auto encoders, transformer-based models, convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and recurrent neural networks (RNNs) to address this problem. Our comprehensive review of existing literature compares these deep learning techniques with traditional methods and highlights their adaptability to large-scale datasets. the efficacy and precision of these methodologies are demonstrated by empirical investigations conducted on authentic datasets across a range of disciplines, including but not limited to time-series analysis, picture identification, and natural language processing. Despite challenges like computational requirements and model interpretability, our findings indicate that deep learning-based feature extraction holds significant promise for enhancing big data analytics, leading to valuable insights and discoveries in various fields. © 2023 IEEE.

Breast cancer is one of the most common and dangerous cancers in women, while it can also afflict men. Breast cancer treatment and detection are greatly aided by the use of histopathological images since they contain sufficient phenotypic data. A Deep Neural Network (DNN) is commonly employed to improve accuracy and breast cancer detection. In our research, we have analyzed pre-trained deep transfer learning models such as ResNet50, ResNetl01, VGG16, and VGG19 for detecting breast cancer using the 2453 histopathology images dataset. Images in the dataset were separated into two categories: those with invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and those without IDC. After analyzing the transfer learning model, we found that ResNet50 outperformed other models, achieving accuracy rates of 90.2%, Area under Curve (AUC) rates of 90.0%, recall rates of 94.7%, and a marginal loss of 3.5%. © 2023 IEEE.

the recent progress in the design of deep neural networks has led a huge step forward in inference accuracy and opened new opportunities also in the design of AI aided medical hardware. However deep neural models have a high demand in both computational as well as memory resources. To make these systems applicable in the field, it is necessary to find a suitable hardware-software ecosystem, which can meet these demands at a sufficiently low energy consumption. For this purpose, we evaluated a modern heterogeneous embedded platform with a deep convolutional network for hand position recognition, based on the collection of electromyography signals. the goal of our evaluation was to find out, how much effort must be spent for optimization, if the architecture itself would be sufficient for the usage as human wearable device and which of the available accelerators on the embedded platform are best suited for the task. © ICWI *** rights reserved.

this article discusses the process of co-designing enrichment toys for non-human animals under human care, offering a reflective account of this process, as it was carried out in direct and playful collaboration with a group of bottlenose dolphins at Mediterraneo Marine Park, which is located in Malta. It tells the story of an attempt to produce an active and fair context for multispecies negotiation. Leveraging thoughts and observations that emerged in moments of interspecies friction, we propose a way to critically reframe our biases and our relationships with non-human animals under human care. the paper presents the act of designing in terms of its possibility to go beyond being a passive reaction to a problem to become a conscious and deliberate process that addresses sociocultural issues, particularly those concerning power imbalances and unfair representations. In the case presented here, a goal beyond the immediate enrichment of the lives of bottlenose dolphins in human care was the reshaping of the social practices and power relationships that determine those existences.

Battery-supercapacitor is one of the hybrid energy storage systems (HESS) that recently develops for environmental-friendly energy systems. In its design, a control system is required to generate the desired current for the load and manage the use between the battery and the supercapacitor to supply the load. this research aims to design a current control system for the HESS battery-supercapacitor using the Linear Quadratic Integrator (LQI) control approach. this controller is used due to its ability to optimize state variables and the control signal by adjusting the weighting matrices Q and R. We use the Bryson method to get the matrices Q and R to minimize the states and the control signal. the LQI control then generates a duty cycle signal to control the active topology DC/DC boost converter. the simulation results demonstrate the successful operation of the LQI control and achieving optimal performance. Battery-supercapacitor current can supply the load according to the load current demand. the resulting IAE value is less than 0.8 and the duty cycle is less than 0.6 for the load change testing scenario. © 2023 IEEE.

Considering the trend seen in recent years regarding drones and their applications in the near future, it becomes clear that more and more systems will be created to support the use of UAVs. this paper presents the integrated Model-Based design approach employed for the development of DIVE (Drone Integration and Validation Ecosystem): a System of Systems (SoS) designed as a functionalities-based architecture. this design technique has been chosen to reduce the time to market new systems since it allows to lower the number of iterations during development, hence facilitating the development and integration of new UAV systems. Currently, DIVE comprises four main areas: Mission Planning, Validation, Operations, and Safety. SkyMission, ARMONIS (Aircraft and Remote MONitored Integrated System), and ELITE (Emergency Landing Identification and Termination System) are the systems that cover these modules. DIVE and the systems it comprises are tested in a digitalized world, exploiting the concept of digital twins, and Wire, the framework that connects them. SkyMission is a simulation environment, created to study and test mission scenarios with UAVs. ARMONIS is a versatile platform meant to permit direct teaming between aircraft personnel, unmanned vehicles, and ground operators. ELITE is a system for UAVs that, unlike a common FTS, employs state-of-the-art Machine Learning and computer Vision technologies to determine the best termination area on the terrain. the underlying backbone that connects all those modules is Wire, a distributed communication framework that can exchange data between them in a decoupled and efficient way. the first tests for these applications with the digital twin have shown promising results. Leveraging different systems, DIVE will be a reliable and scalable system of systems developed using a Model-Based approach, for the integration of UAV-based applications, establishing a novel functionalities-based ecosystem.

Addressing food waste is a critical concern for the sustainability of our environment. Various approaches have been utilized, such as campaigns to educate the general population to be more mindful and responsible. However, when targeting children, especially on school premises, there is a notable lack of engagement and effectiveness compared to their impact on other demographic groups. Serious games promote the development of social, cultural, and cognitive skills. through game-play, children acquire content knowledge, enrich their experience, and become engaged with the learning information. Recognizing the opportunity of these tools, we created "Masters Against Food Waste" designed and developed to impart children with strategies to combat food waste. the results of a study with 22 students yielded positive results, highlighting the game's potential to raise awareness and prevent food waste effectively.

this study presents a single-band, three-pole bandpass filter (BPF) that employs an innovative design. the proposed filter consists of three compact, planar rectangles, each featuring a small opening on one side. Within these rectangles, additional similar rectangles are arranged, covered with microstrip lines to enhance their capacitive effects. the filter is fabricated and tested on a Rogers RO3010 substrate, which is 50 mils thick, has a relative dielectric constant of 10.2, and measures 14.6×2.55×1.27 mm3 in size. Its operational frequency is set at 4.55 GHz, achieving a maximum Return Loss of 16.9 dB. this filter effectively covers the FR1 GHz spectrum required for 5G wireless communications, offering improved noise immunity. the design and activation of the proposed filter are carried out using the Advance design System (ADS) Software. Notably, the measured results closely align with the simulated S-parameter outcomes. © 2023 IEEE.

How do Animal-computer Interaction (ACI) researchers working with live animal participants assess the animals' willingness to participate in their research? In this paper we present the results of a systematic literature review designed to answer this question by examining the Proceedings of the ACM international Animal computer Interaction conference. From 2016-2022, these proceedings included 38 full papers that reported results from research with live animal participants. We found 1) only 74% or 28/38 of the papers reported how they assessed animal participants' willingness to engage during their research, 2) the authors of papers focused on species other than dogs had a much higher rate of providing this information than did the authors of dog-based studies (100% or 12/12 non-dog papers v 62% or 16/26 of dog-based papers), 3) most researchers who addressed the issue of an animal participant's willingness to engage in the research relied on some form of mediated consent, informed by behavioral observation methods, to do so. However, the researchers focused on non-dog species were much more likely than researchers focused on dogs to include elements of contingent consent in their protocols (75% (9/12) of the non-dog studies v 12% (3/26) of the dog-related studies). We argue that providing each other with more details about our research methods and possibly more fully embracing the principles of contingent consent would further ACI researchers' existing ethical commitment to our animal participants, increase our adherence to standard scientific research practice, and accelerate the continued development of the field of Animal-computer Interaction.
