With the rapid advancement of IT technology, data resilience has become crucial for driving the digital transformation of modern enterprises. In this technological trend, Write Ahead Log (WAL) has emerged as a fundamental technique for ensuring data resilience, highlighting its growing importance. However, most WAL literature does not address design issues in long-term maintenance. this study explores three design issues related to long-term WAL maintenance: acquiring the latest index, log segmentation and reassembly, and index reset after consolidation. the proposed designs are implemented as a proof-of-concept prototype. Subsequently, a series of experiments are conducted to examine the impact of these designs on performance, CPU/memory resource consumption, and index optimization. We hope that the proposed techniques will contribute to practical WAL design. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to facilitate communication among people from various countries, this paper will develop an online Japanese translation assistant system using neural network technology. On this basis, a Japanese translation mechanism based on neural networks was proposed, which combined the editing and modification after Japanese translation with the design concept of knowledge base. A system structure consisting of a transceiver module, an automatic translation module, a manual error correction module, a task management module, and a storage module were established, and the performance of each module was analyzed in detail. then, this article provides a detailed workflow design for the system, with a focus on combining neural networks with the business process of Japanese translation, thus achieving online assistance for Japanese translation based on neural networks. After testing, all functional modules of this system have achieved a 100% pass rate and achieved fast online translation, improving the success rate of pronunciation and multilingual translation. © 2023 IEEE.

Training in virtual reality (VR) offers advantages such as a safe learning environment, good scalability, and cost saving. However, state-of-the-art simulations are limited in faithfully conveying real-world physical object properties such as weight without complex technologies and instrumentation of the user or environment, which may negatively impact learning. A potential solution is the application of pseudo-haptics: illusory haptic sensations induced by a mismatch between real and virtual hand positions. Researchers have proposed various pseudo-haptic techniques to alter the perception of weight in virtual environments, but their effectiveness with hand tracking compared to VR controllers is underexplored. Hence, we investigate impacts of the interaction method for two different types of pseudo-haptic feedback based on Tracking Delay and Vertical Offset. Our results indicate that pseudo-haptics can effectively facilitate the sensation of weight both with controllers and bare hands, whereby each has benefits: hand tracking can enhance body ownership, while controllers may improve perceived responsiveness of virtual environments. Also, pseudo-haptics with Tracking Delay may be preferable for repetitive lifting tasks, as Vertical Offset can be prone to higher physical demand. the current study provides insights into the design of pseudo-haptic feedback and interaction technologies for weight perception in VR. © 2024 IEEE.

Wearable technologies hold promise for revolutionizing disease management in the cattle farming industry by enabling real-time monitoring of cattle health through continuous physiological and behavioral data collection. However, the practical implementation of these technologies, along with approaches to have a paramount consideration of animal welfare and farmer needs during the process, remain underexplored. this study adopts animal-computer interaction (ACI) principles to address these gaps, with a focus on harmonizing technological advancements with on-ground realities. the paper details the design process of a leg-worn sensor-based system for cattle health monitoring, covering hardware and software facets from ideation to implementation. the contributions of this study extend to both the ACI field and the broader livestock industry. By embracing ACI principles, we showcase the potential of wearable sensor technology to transform cattle health monitoring. the developed leg-worn system exemplifies the integration of ACI-driven design with practical farm management needs, offering a model for the advancement of livestock health and management practices.

the research investigates the optimization of multi-robot coordination in agricultural automation through Particle Swarm Optimization. the methodology unfolds in four key aspects: firstly, by harnessing swarm intelligence principles, the approach enhances coordination among multiple robots in agricultural settings, fostering collaboration and dynamic task allocation in response to real-time changes. Secondly, the integration of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) introduces a powerful optimization technique, enabling the algorithm to dynamically adapt the swarm's configuration. this adaptability optimizes task allocation and individual robot positions, enhancing overall efficiency. thirdly, the methodology systematically tackles scalability, adaptability, and robustness challenges in agricultural automation. By synergizing swarm intelligence and PSO, it ensures efficient scalability with an increasing number of robots and responsiveness to evolving agricultural demands. the holistic design makes it well-suited for practical implementation in real-world agricultural scenarios. A series of experiments varying PSO parameters were conducted, revealing nuanced relationships between iterations, swarm size, and coefficients and their impact on convergence time and fitness metrics. the outcomes demonstrate the trade-offs involved in selecting these parameters for efficient coordination in agricultural tasks. A comparative analysis with ABO and ACO highlights PSO's superior performance, achieving remarkable fitness value of 98% in the context of robotic swarm applications. © 2024 IEEE.

this study investigates the manner in which to diagnose and treat Parkinson's disease using deep learning-based medical robotics. the study analyses the possibilities of these technologies adopting an interpretivist philosophy, a deductive strategy, as well as a descriptive design. the findings show that deep learning models may greatly increase the accuracy of symptom analysis, particularly their incorporation with medical robots improves assessment effectiveness. Clinical analyses show that these systems perform better than traditional approaches, which opens the door to earlier interventions and more specialized care. However, the study emphasizes the necessity of standardization, moral issues, as well as a widening of applications. To ensure the viability and efficacy of these cutting-edge technologies, future research should concentrate on long-term monitoring and its impact on treatment options. © 2023 IEEE.

Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative impairment that unhurriedly impairs remembrance, cognition, and behavior, ultimately leading to a loss of independence. this study focuses on detecting Alzheimer's across four categories, NonDementia, VeryMildDementia, MildDementia, and ModerateDementia that represent different levels of cognitive decline. Accurate early prediction is essential, as it enables timely intervention, which may help slow or even halt symptom progression, thereby improving patients' quality of life. Applying machine learning and deep learning in Alzheimer's detection presents a cost-effective solution, reducing the reliance on manual analysis and providing a scalable, efficient diagnostic tool. However, In prediction models, we still face a lack of interpretability, as healthcare providers must understand and trust the results. Previous research has utilized algorithms like Support Vector Machines, Random Forest, k-Nearest Neighbors for Alzheimer's classification;nonetheless, these models often lack transparency. this research makes use of the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative or ADNI dataset, applying EfficientNet for feature extraction owing to its superior precision and efficiency in computation. A Dense layers is used as the classifier, chosen for its seamless integration within the neural network framework and compatibility with interpretability methods. GradCAM++ is applied to enhance interpretability, highlighting specific brain regions that influence each decision. through our design and applied methods, this research achieves a high classification accuracy of 97.84%, reflecting an improvement of nearly 2% over previous approaches. this approach shows promise in supporting healthcare professionals with early diagnosis and the planning of targeted interventions. © 2024 IEEE.

Asymmetric GaN-based metal-semiconductor-metal photodetectors were designed, and the influence of asymmetric electrodes on the working principle and self-powered photodetection performance of device were numerically studied. Due to the different work functions of the two electrodes, the asymmetric Pt-GaN-Al structure shows the largest difference in the Schottky barrier height of 0.5 eV, and exhibits the most obvious asymmetry of dark I-V curve. Without applied bias, it also performs the highest IL/ID ratio of 7.57×1010 and strong response at the wavelength of 280-360 nm with the peak responsivity of 0.27A/W, while the symmetric Pt-GaN-Pt structure has extremely low response of about 6.0×10-5A/W, proving the excellent self-powered detection performance of the asymmetric MSM photodetector. the built-in potential gradient in the asymmetric MSM structure caused by the different Schottky barrier heights at both contacts is the key for the self-powered characteristic. It results in different carrier separation and transport efficiency, and then drives the photogenerated electrons and holes to flow into different contacts, thus realizing the self-powered photodetection performance. ©2024 IEEE.

As wireless technology continues to experience exponential growth, the significance of antennas capable of resonating at multiple frequency bands has grown substantially. To address these increasing demands, reconfigurable antennas have emerged as the optimal solution. this study presents a novel method for designing and exploring a compact, planar antenna with adjustable frequencies. the antenna employs a Flame Retardant 4 (FR4) substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.02. this design produces multiple frequency bands with wider bandwidths. the proposed antenna operates in both multi-band and single-band modes, determined by the states of diode-Radio Frequency Positive-Intrinsic-Negative (RF PIN) switches. thorough simulations and validation against measurements analyze antenna parameters such as Gain, radiation pattern, current distribution, and return loss. the fabricated antenna functions within a sub-10 GHz frequency range. the antenna's structure results in improved radiation efficiency across all resonating conditions and significantly higher gain, ranging from 1.27 to 5.81, compared to existing state-of-the-art designs. the reconfigurable antenna's design showcases significant simulated results. Its capabilities cover crucial frequency points such as Wi-Fi, 5G, Vo5G, and the C band. Furthermore, this design is well-suited for incorporation into contemporary portable communication devices. © 2023 IEEE.

Education is the backbone of every society, and its core goal is to internalize the maximum potential of every child. With the advent of technologies like AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, Automation, the landscape of the future is witnessing a major shift. the skills required in future are also different from what is being taught in the current school education. Creativity has been reported to be among the top three required skills in the next decade with complex problem solving and critical thinking acquiring the top two positions. For creativity to work, imagination is needed as a fuel. this paper reports about the development of imagination and creativity in kids using a new pedagogical tool called 'platos'. the pedagogical tool was developed using platonic solids as props for intervention. the tool was further assessed using neurophysiological instruments like EEG and GSR. these neurophysiological instruments are capable of sensing electrical movements in humans. the neurophysiological responses of the frontal and parietal part of the brain were filtered and then the results were analysed. Furthermore, the changes in sweat gland or galvanic skin response (aka EDA) activity were captured. GSRis a direct indication for emotional state changes also knownas emotional arousal/anxiety. Combining Skin conductance with valence, moments of key engagements can be understood, and their significance can be established. the idea was to check the neurophysiological responses of the students while they undergo any hands-on creative activity. the findings indicated that in order for youngsters to acquire innovative and creative perceptions of geometrical forms and spatial comprehension, a creative visual intervention is necessary to enhance their creativity.
