Power delivery at medium voltage level over an ever-expanding electrical grid is more prone to faults than at other higher voltage level. the most common fault type in these electrical networks is the single line-to-ground fault. It is therefore necessary to design protection schemes that ensure a fast and selective detection of such faults. A reliable operation of the protective relays depends on the accurate analytical computation of the single line-to-ground fault current. this paper tackles a key issue of long-term scenario planning, namely the influence of the medium voltage distribution network insulation state on the fault current and on the medium voltage busbars zero-sequence voltage based on which the protective relays make a discriminatory decision when such a fault occurs. the purpose of this paper is to emphasise that the setting of these relays must be reviewed periodically and updated according to the latest insulation strength parameters values. © 2023 IEEE.

It has been clearly observed in recent years that the rate of injuries caused by toxic gases for workers inside laboratories and chemical warehouses has increased. the need for intelligent and efficient sensor systems in university chemical laboratories and repositories is becoming increasingly important. To meet this need, the design and implementation of an intelligent system was developed to sense and detect gas emissions within these laboratories. the system was developed as it relies primarily on sensors to measure the percentage of toxic gases within the laboratory and consists of a wireless sensor network (WSN) with the Internet of things (IoT) in laboratories and warehouses. Chemicals inside the university. the WSN device is used to collect toxic gas data in laboratories and distribute it from sensors that include the MQ4 sensor and the MQ135 sensor. the process of exploring toxic gases in laboratories and chemical stores at universities is considered by linking the wireless sensors with a micro controller using two XBEE (S2) MODULE nodes, one for transmission and the other for reception. the data is collected and processed on a computer, and then the processed data is transferred to the cloud using an application via MIT APP and an ESP8266 simple unit (NodeMCU) with a wireless sensor network to monitor gases inside the laboratory. the implementation of this system will greatly enhance the safety and security of the university's laboratories and chemical stores, providing a safer and healthier environment for students, staff and faculty. © 2024 IEEE.

this article presents a line segments-based method for calculating the inertia load generated in the cable release system of vehicle latch systems during vehicle collision accidents. the method is proposed based on the theoretical calculation method recommended by GTR No.1 and provides a concise and effective approach for calculating the inertia force produced by the cable release system. It also considers the friction between the wire rope and conduit to prevent redundant design of the latch system. By extracting the spline curve of the cable in CAD software, points on the cable can be effectively identified to construct line segments. this approach saves time in the design and verification process of automobile door latch systems and allows for iterative analysis. © 2024 SPIE.

the development of virtual reality (VR)-based rehabilitation offers new healthcare programme to patients with upper limb motor deficits. VR head-mounted displays (HMDs) provide patients with not only enhanced engagement and motivation, but better therapeutic performance. In the immersive environment, therapists that are important to rehabilitation sometimes provide guidance to patients as avatars in the game scene. To enhance the guidance efficiency and reduce the cost, this study aims to introduce a new cross-platform rehabilitation system, with patients taking rehabilitation through VR platform and therapists offer guidance through personal computer (PC) platform. the system involves visual and tactile guidance modalities as aids and extensions. To evaluate the cross-platform system, user experience and performance, two essential factors in a digital rehabilitation system are taken into consideration for the experiment. Subjective and objective data are collected during the experiment for healthy participants. Based on experience and performance analysis, this study generally achieved good user feedback and summarized the optimal guidance methods for cross-platform rehabilitation. Finally, this study contributes to the existing literature by proposing suggestions on the design considerations of cross-platform rehabilitation system, especially for the guidance included. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, the finite integral method in time domain is used to simulate the electromagnetic environment of aircraft in the air by the radiation of high altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP), and the characteristics of its radiation field are studied. the research in this paper provides an effective way for the electromagnetic environmental effects of aircraft by HEMP strong pulse radiation, and can provide support for further research on the radiation hazards and protection of high altitude electromagnetic pulse to aircraft. © 2022 IEEE.

the widespread use of digital networks, technologies, and platforms, that allow humans, physical objects, and machines to interact with each other, has significantly affected the structure, components, and knowledge processes of innovation systems that have been transformed into cyber-physical innovation environments. Such environments operate at various scales and spaces, involve a wider set of actors, and demonstrate collective intelligence, exhibiting, thus, higher efficiency and impact than traditional innovation systems. therefore, it is justified that there is an increasing research interest for understanding digital crowdsourcing platforms and online communities as a channel of collaborative innovation. Despite the attention such systems receive from different disciplines, there is still limited empirical evidence on their structure and coordination, as well as the mechanics that lead to sustained user participation and the generation of inventive and creative ideas, especially in urban planning and civic participation. this paper aims to conduct an overview of key platform attributes and common human-computer interaction patterns, based on an examination of the pertinent literature, as well as an indicative sample of notable platforms which allow large networks of individuals or communities to access, explore, and exchange knowledge and ideas.

this study uses Convolutional Neural Networks on retinal images to meet the critical requirement for precise and understandable automated glaucoma identification. Utilizing secondary data collected from credible ophthalmic databases, a deductive strategy was used within a descriptive study framework while adopting an interpretive mindset. through meticulous training on a varied dataset that included both healthy patients and cases with various stages of glaucoma, the design of CNN was refined. With a precision of 92% as well as a specificity rating of 94%, its CNN-based myopia detection system demonstrated outstanding diagnostic accuracy. Additionally, the model proved to be robust across a range of demographic groupings, guaranteeing consistent results regardless of age, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. In particular, the approach demonstrated exceptional adaptability to differences in disease delivery, excelling especially the identification of the initial stages glaucoma. Features of interpretability were added to increase decision-making visibility. Insights about the algorithm's diagnostic procedure were gained through the use of saliency maps members' feature visualization approaches, which enabled doctors and the computer program to make decisions together. Although the system shows promising findings, more study is advised to evaluate its performance in actual clinical situations and to improve interpretability methods. Automated glaucoma detection needs to continue to progress, and this requires prospective data collection initiatives and adherence to strict ethical standards. this study sets the groundwork for a highly useful and understandable instrument that will transform the early detection and treatment of glaucoma © 2023 IEEE.

the act of fruit identification entails the discernment and classification of various fruit varieties, predicated upon their visual attributes. this task can be accomplished through various methods, including manual inspection, traditional computer vision techniques, and more advanced approaches using machine learning and deep learning. Our work recognized 15 types of fruit. Our experiment used the fruit imagery dataset, consisting of class Avocado, Banana, Cherry, Apple Braeburn, Apple golden 1, Apricot, Grape, Kiwi, Mango, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pineapple, Pomegranate and Strawberry. Yolov8 is one of the most popular learning models in the field of object detection. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs), thus simultaneously predicting multiple bounding boxes and probability classes from these bounding boxes. Yolov8 trains the entire image and directly optimizes detection performance, modeled as a Convolutional neural network (CNN). the percentage of detection of test results using *** for each of the 15 categories of fruit images with the average accuracy above is 0.97%, so it can be said to be quite good. After collecting data, Train training and system design implementation of Val Test Convolutional neural networks (CNN) algorithms enabled machine learning and were successfully detected using yolov8n. During the experimental process, we employ 100 epochs with the use of Google Collaboratory. Google Collaboratory has provided GPUs up to 12GB, making it easier and speeding up the fruit detection process. © 2023 IEEE.
