this paper presents an automatic video highlighting approach in relation to a soccer match video lasting over ninety minutes, in which only the match video and the target length of the highlight video are required for the composition. Firstly, we propose a core-around event model, which represents the highlight as a complex event and consists of three components: semantic relations, temporal relationship among the activities and local motion appearance of each activity. Secondly, we detect activities involved in a highlight in the soccer match video by the local motion appearance. thirdly, a candidate highlight video segment is aligned withthe model by a specific kernel activity extracted on the basis of the semantic relations, and then assigned a matching score. Finally, we splice together the highlight segments of high matching score. Experimental results demonstrate that the composed highlight videos are attractive episodes of soccer matches, and similar to those edited by professional editors.

Many services in the internet including Email, search engine, social networking are provided with free of charge due to enormous growth of web users. Withthe expansion of web services, denial of service (DoS) attacks by malicious automated programs (e. g. web bots) is becoming a serious problem of web service accounts. In order to avoid tremendous attack from malicious computer programs, HIP, or Human Interactive Proofs has been introduced to distinguish humans from computers. HIPs are designed to be easy for humans but hard for machines. Unfortunately, the existing HIPs tried to maximize the difficulty for automated programs to pass tests by increasing distortion or noise. Consequently, it has also become difficult for potential users too. In our proposed technique we resolve this problem by making use of human cognitive processing abilities through emoticons focusing mainly on users. Features like language independence, using this for advertising purpose, ease of use interface for the touch-based smart-phone users, easy tuning of security and usability level make it very attractive to web service providers. In the result section, a microscopic large-scale user study was conducted involving 118 users to investigate the actual user views compare to existing state of the art CAPTCHA systems like ESP-PIX and Asirra in terms of usability and security and found our system can be solved with 88.04% average success rate in less than 7 seconds.

In design practice, empirical rules have been merely used until now for the positioning of elevator systems in buildings, while little scientific work has been done in order to solve the problem systematically. In the present paper, a computer-aided method is introduced that provides optimum positions for elevator systems. All building floors are represented by grids, while proper matrices and functions correlate architectural and circulation data and map them on those grids. By using weighted Euclidean norms together with a modified Hill Climbing search algorithm, the cell withthe minimum weighted mean horizontal distance from the spaces where occupants present significant vertical transportation demand, is located. then, a module that embeds rules of expertise and uses a modified Tabu Search method, provides a hoistway position and layout taking into account all building floors. A case study of a five-storey building demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

this paper presents a method based on Uniform design (UD) to choose appropriate parameters of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Ant Colony Algorithm (ACA) for solving Traveling Salesmen Problem (TSP). Although meta-heuristic algorithms, such as GA and ACA, are ideal optimizer for engineering practice, one of their drawbacks focuses on performance dependency on the parameters, which differ from one problem to another. It is interesting and significant to properly choose algorithms and their parameters to adapt different problems. thus this paper utilizes UD to choose the limited representative parameter combinations and check the effectiveness withthe traditional exploratory method. Experiments show the performance of GA and ACA with different parameter configuration and problems changes drastically.

Performance enhancement of a teaching-learning basedz optimizer (TLBO) for strip flatness optimization during a coiling process is proposed. the method is termed improved teaching-learning based optimization (ITLBO). the new algorithm is achieved by modifying the teaching phase of the original TLBO. the design problem is set to find spool geometry and coiling tension in order to minimize flatness defects during the coiling process. Having implemented the new optimizer with flatness optimization for strip coiling, the results reveal that the proposed method gives a better optimum solution compared to the present state-of-the-art methods.

It is shown how the experience from the PS-GRADE parallel program design tool with controlling distributed programs at the process level, based on the extensive use of signals, can be transferred at the level of threads. A programming technique is proposed to combine the use of process level communication libraries like MPI or sockets withthe use of thread level libraries like OpenMP or pthreads.
