Context-aware applications and middleware platforms are evolving into major driving factors for pervasive systems. the ability to also make accurate assumptions about future contexts further enables such systems to proactively adapt to upcoming situations. However, the provision of a reusable system component to facilitate the development of such future-context-aware applications is still challenging - as it requires to be generic but, at the same time, as efficient and accurate as possible. To address these requirements, this paper presents the approach of Structured Context Prediction which constitutes a framework to facilitate the application of existing prediction methods. It allows application developers to integrate domain-specific knowledge by creating a customized prediction model at design time and to select, implement and combine prediction methods for the intended purpose. Feasibility is evaluated by applying a prototype system component to two mobile application scenarios, showing that both high accuracy and efficiency are possible.

the present work deals withthe free vibration control of a simply supported and cantilevered sandwich beam with magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) embedded viscoelastic core and conductive skins subjected to time varying magnetic field. the skins of the sandwich beam are conductive such that magnetic loads are applied to the skins. Considering the core to be stiff in transverse direction, classical sandwich beam theory has been used along with extended Hamilton's principle and Galarkin's method to derive the governing equation of motion. the resulting equation reduces to that of a parametrically excited system. Method of multiple scales has been used to study the response and stability of the system. Critical parameters of amplitude and frequency of magnetic field have been determined to actively control the free vibration response of the system. Effects of percentage of iron particles and carbon black in attenuation of vibration of the sandwich beam have been studied. Here the experimentally obtained properties of recently developed magnetorheological elastomers based on natural rubber containing iron particles and carbon blacks have been considered in the numerical simulation.

A novel method for three-dimensional (3D) residential building reconstruction in urban areas using LiDAR (light detection and ranging) data is proposed. the main contribution of this work is the automatic segmentation of roof points and roof type recognition and reconstruction based on sparse LiDAR data. Using minimum bounding rectangle (MBR) method and model-based reconstruction, we are able to automatically identify individual buildings from cluttered residential areas and re-create building models with improved accuracy in a reasonably short time. We applied our method to urban sites in the city of New Orleans and demonstrated that the method identified building measurements successfully from LiDAR data and rebuilt 3D models effectively. Our experiments show that even in the presence of noise we can successfully reconstruct small buildings given relatively sparse LiDAR samples with help from template databases.

Driver fatigue is a major risk for road accidents that can often result in injury and death. In this paper, the chaotic degree of ECG under different driving fatigue states was measured the chaotic degree of the system was reflected by sample entropy in this paper. the relationship between different driving fatigue states and the corresponding sample entropy of ECG was analysed the findings emphasize that the value of sample entropy was strongly correlative withthe mental fatigue state, and the values of sample entropy decreased with driving times prolonged the method proposed in this paper is expected to provide a new tool for the, efforts of evaluating driving fatigue objectively.

Nowadays, increasing amount of parts and sub-assemblies are publicly available, which can be used directly for product development instead of creating from scratch. In this paper, we propose an interactive design framework for efficient and smart assembly modeling, in order to improve the design efficiency. Our approach is based on a probabilistic reasoning. Given a collection of industrial assemblies, we learn a probabilistic graphical model from the relationships between the parts of assemblies. then in the modeling stage, this probabilistic model is used to suggest the most likely used parts compatible withthe current assembly. Finally, the parts are assembled under certain geometric constraints. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework through a variety of assembly models produced by our prototype system.

this paper outlines the analysis, design, development, deployment and evaluation stages of computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) software aimed at dyslexic learners. CALL is traditionally aimed at second language acquisition. the research presented here is different because the target group are students with first language difficulties. Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder, which affects roughly eight percent of the population in Ireland [5]. this research identifies the lack of support for dyslexic teenagers in Irish secondary schools and establishes their particular needs. the paper describes CALL courseware development in progress, which aims to aid the reading, organisation and exam skills of dyslexic students through the use of online authentic Junior Certificate history curriculum texts. the final evaluation phase of the project will assess the efficacy of the software and investigate the question of whether dedicated software can improve the reading skills of teenage dyslexic students at word, sentence and text level.
