3D objects play a vital role in computer games, movies, TV, engineering design, and biological sciences. Researchers have studied 3D object retrieval techniques using 2D and 3D shape descriptors in the last several decades. In this paper, some of the most popular shape descriptors are reviewed. We first discuss the important criteria for a good shape descriptor. then, we classify 2D and 3D shape descriptors into several categories. For each category, we review the state-of-the-art techniques along withtheir advantages and disadvantages. We also examine the recent contributions and improvements in these techniques and provide a comparison with other successful techniques based on previous literature and surveys. Finally we discuss the possible future directions.

A general model of an array of bit-serial processors is given, and the mapping of neural network models on such an array is demonstrated. the approach maps a neuron on each processing element and makes communicating between a node and any other node possible by connection weight matrices. the required communication structure is very simple. the bit-serial approach allows tradeoffs between speed and precision, even dynamically. Performance figures are given. A bit-serial multiplier is an important part of the design. Implementation aspects are discussed, and it is shown that a one-board realization of a 1024-processor system is feasible.

Concurrent engineering (CE) is intertwined withthe field of computer-aided engineering (CAE). the author presents a vision of future for CE and CAE where computational intelligence (CI) will play an increasingly significant role. Various disciplines within CE such as design, manufacturing, knowledge management, collaborative computing, Web processes and services, and distributed infrastructures must rely heavily on CI to achieve the increasing sophistication demand. the author has been advocating and advancing a multi-paradigm approach for solution of complicated and noisy computational intelligence problems. In 1995 he co-authored Machine Learning - Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, and Fuzzy Systems [1] the first authored book that presented and integrated the three principal soft computing and computational intelligence approaches. It was shown that such integration would provide a more powerful approach than any of the three approaches used individually. Since the publication of that ground-breaking book the author and his associates have demonstrated that chaos theory and wavelets can be used to further enhance computational intelligence especially for complicated and noisy pattern recognition problems. In this lecture it is shown how wavelets can be used as a powerful tool to complement and enhance other soft computing techniques such as neural networks and fuzzy logic as well as the chaos theory for solution of complicated and seemingly intractable Cl problems. Examples of research performed by the author and his research associates in the areas of intelligent transportation systems [2-4], vibrations control [5-8], and nonlinear system identification [9-10] are presented.

Cell migration has been widely used in global placement for the highly efficiency in smoothing cells overlap. the current cell migration methods only locally or globally smooththe density without considering the relation between the local and the global density. Furthermore, the cells generally are treated as points with *** this paper we present a new cell migration technique called CSAGO to even the overlap. CSAGO obtains the movement distance while considering the local and the global density distribution simultaneously. By separating the standard cells and the macro blocks crossing multi-bin, a more smooth migration speed can be obtained. CSAGO has been embedded into the global placement process, experimental result shows that average HPWL have reduced 3% and the total runtime is 1.78 times faster than DPlace [1].

Reconfigurable System-on-Chip (RSoC) is a promising alternative to deliver both flexibility and performance at the same time, and also a technical solution looking to the future needs of embedded applications. But the complex design process is impeding the development of extensive applications. this paper proposes an RSoC design methodology based on function-level programming model on account of the characteristics of the reconfigurable architecture. In the programming model, system designers use high-level language to complete functional specification by calling the co-functionlibrary. then the dynamic hardware/software partitioning algorithm will decide whether an invoked function should be running on hardware or software automatically. According to the partitioning result, the dynamic linker will switch functions’ execution mode in real time. And the above items can facilitate an automatic design flow through specification to the system implementation. Experiments and tests have verified the feasibility and efficiency of the automatic design flow.

In order to guide students in teaching, and make students have good thinking in learning, strengthen students’ active consciousness, and make students play full role of learning. the purpose of this paper is putting forward some new teaching ways as the following— adopting figural teaching method, culturing analytical skills to solve practical problems, enhancing classroom interaction and using modern digital technology in teaching.
