the design of integrated inductors on silicon has become an important issue to decrease costs and to speed up the fabrication of telecommunication integrated circuits. Nevertheless, the formulae provided by the existing theory still do not show a good result in inductance prediction, specially if one figures that these inductances must fit the measured ones through a wide band of very high frequency values. Electromagnetic simulation is an alternative to cope withthis problem, but if done in a non-ordered fashion, it will demand a lot of computer processing time and will also require a very skilled designer to select the inductors to be tested from a large set of possible devices, due to the large amount of variables involved in the device's specification. the purpose of this work is to propose a methodology to perform electromagnetic simulations in a systematic and automatic way. Once finished these electromagnetic simulations, the resulting electrical parameters are stored in a database that correlates these variables to the geometric specification of the inductors. In order to reduce the computation time demanded by the electromagnetic simulations, the possibility of generating the electrical parameters database using neural networks was also verified.

Some changes are suggested to the Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) which will extend its applicability and efficiency. they present a concept showing how to gain a multiplicative effect in throughput for token rings by using a combination of a second counter-rotating ring and destination removal. Evidence is given to show that 100 Mb/s rings can deliver up to 250 Mb/s on each ring assuming a uniform destination address space. the concept of destination removal is dependent upon the destination address space and a uniform distribution was used in the analysis and simulation for this work. It is intended to show the degree to which such an approach might be beneficial for future networks and to show that these ideas can have a major impact on performance. Analytical and simulation results to support the design proposals are provided.

In the past, several approaches have been proposed to produce high quality solid textures. Unfortunately, they often suffer from several synthesis artifacts, such as color blurry, bad texture structures, introducing aberrant voxel colors and so on. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for synthesizing high quality solid textures from 2D exemplars. We adopt an optimization framework withthe k-coherence search and the discrete solver for solid texture synthesis. the texture optimization approach is integrated with a new kind of histogram matching, position histogram matching, which effectively causes the global statistics of the synthesized solid textures to match those of the exemplars. Experimental results show that our synthesized results do not suffer from color blurry, and most texture structures are preserved well, outperforming the previous solid texture synthesis algorithms in terms of the synthesis quality.
