Traditional retiming processes are mostly MILP based withthe physical interconnect information less correctly reflected, thus could be very CPU intensive and incorrect on the final clock period estimations. Moreover, the number of flip-flops tends to be undesirably increased after the retiming process, which can cause a significant area/power penalty on the retimed circuit. To overcome these major drawbacks of the conventional retiming technique, we first propose a fast retiming algorithm which avoids solving MILP, and with both gate and interconnect delay formulated together. For a more accurate delay estimation, all interconnect delays are formulated and calculated based on real placements. Additionally, we integrate it with a specific rewiring algorithm to cut down the number of flip-flops (FFs) without sacrificing retimed clock periods. Experimental results show that our pure retiming algorithm can achieve an average of 5.75% optimization on the clock period in a very fast speed. With a rewiring algorithm targeting for FF reduction applied, a FF reduction of up to 31.2% (11.3% on average) can be obtained without the compromise on the retimed clock period compared to the pure retimed results.

the application of computer in industrial design has become very important withthe development of information technology and network technology. the computerization of design tools will change the ideology and management of industrial design inevitably. In order to solve the problem of document management, communicalion and knowledge management in industrial design, this paper studied the position of industrial design in product development procedure;proposed the architecture of a collaborative platform for industrial design based on Product Lifetime Management(PLM);analyzed the key technologies of building such a platform;and, built a collaborative platform with features of industrial design. the platform establishes project management templates for industrial design and design document templates based on common expression mode, solves the problem of large size model transfer, realizes online browsing of 3D model and improves the communication among designers and product data sharing. the plaiform helps product design overcome the limitation of time and space, shortens product lifetime cycle and enhance the ability of personalized product development. All of the above features prove that this platform has preferable practicability.

Color mapping plays a critical role in visualization of time-varying data and also sets a challenge for researchers due to the consistency of mapping and great changes in time-varying data. In order to solve this problem and generate feature-prominent animation, we present a two phase optimization technique using bilateral filtering and global energy functions. In the first phase, for each time step, we use a weighted mapping function which combines linear mapping and feature histogram. In the second phase, an optimization function taking global color mapping and minimum color difference into consideration is designed. So users can clearly distinguish between data in variable time steps and easily understand the corresponding relationships between different structures. the experiments' results show that our method can achieve high quality visualization for both static and time-varying data.

this work presents a developed novel optimization process that can be used for the synthesis of mechanical components and systems. One sample application to the design optimization of space frames is presented in detail. Several other applications are also indicated. the main objective in the sample application is to minimize the space frame volume and satisfy stress constraints. the optimization effectively uses the devised Heuristic Gradient Projection (HGP) technique to synthesize the optimum design of the Midi-Bus frame. Results indicate a striking improvement over available designs and remarkably faster convergence over other design and optimization techniques. the technique can moreover be effectively applied to other large 3D-space frame synthesis and optimization. the developed synthesis methodology is also applied to other designs as a tailored optimization paradigm for a better theory of design realization.
