Blockchain technology is useful with the record keeping of digital transactions, IoT, supply chain management etc. However, we have observed that the traditional attacks are possible on blockchain due to lack of robust identity management. We found that Sybil attack can cause severe impact in public/permissionless blockchain, in which an attacker can subvert the blockchain by creating a large number of pseudonymous identities (i.e. Fake user accounts) and push legitimate entities in the minority. Such virtual nodes can act like genuine nodes to create disproportionately large influence on the network. this may lead to several other attacks like DoS, DDoS etc. In this paper, a Sybil attack is demonstrated on a blockchain test bed with its impact on the throughput of the system. We propose a solution directive, in which each node monitors the behavior of other nodes and checks for the nodes which are forwarding the blocks of only particular user. Such nodes are quickly identified, blacklisted and notified to other nodes, and thus the Sybil attack can be restricted. We analyze experimental results of the proposed solution.

Smart grids are in their developing stages, but they are going to impact the world soon. the more they influence us, the more they have a threat of being misused. Industrial Internet of things(IIoT) is being extensively used in various smart grid based applications. IIoT has been an area for cyber-attacks to drastically affect various industries and businesses. Existing technologies are just not enough to deal with cyber-physical systems. Blockchain can help in creating more efficient, secure and reliable IIoT systems. Such systems, which involve rapid, distributed and complex energy transactions and data exchanges often face integrity and trust related issues. Blockchain can provide a solution to such problems. third-party interactions have been removed using blockchain based smart contracts, thereby facilitating the adoption of decentralization and establishing a global truth across all the nodes in the network. Efficiency can further be increased by logging only the most important events like faults in the system or injection of malicious data. this paper proposes an innovative collective decision algorithm using blockchain to build a resilient network of Phasor Measurement Units(PMUs) for Wide Area Measurement System(WAMS). the algorithm not only identifies "malicious" nodes in the system but also takes the correct decision, even in their presence, to perform further action. the proposed solution is validated on a hardware-in-loop platform with the hardware PMUs connected on an IEEE 9 bus system.

Drug counterfeit has become a global issue. the counterfeit problem has become so huge that it has drawn a significant attention among researchers and policy makers. the fake drug industry is worth of 10 billion dollar per year as estimated by 'ASSOCHAM' in 2017. Also estimated by WHO about a million die per year due to fake drugs. the dispensation of fake drugs is the pivotal concern, specially in developing countries like India. One of main reason in drug counterfeiting is imperfect supply chain. there are many loop holes in our current policy of drug supply chain management system. In the present scenario of supply chain, either the information is not shared between the parties during the hand off process at all or a little or irrelevant information is shared. Once a party transfer the drug to another party, the first party doesn't know what happens to the drugs there after. the counterfeit drug not only affect the health condition of patient or the financial loss of genuine manufacturer but also it is posing serious threat to the socio-economic status of the society. In this paper, we explain details of the drug counterfeit along with a little history of the pharmacy industry and its impact on different areas and also to counter the counterfeits using Blockchain technology. Using Blockchain technology we explained here how to add traceability, visibility, and security to the drug supply chain. this proposed system will track the drugs from its origin from the manufacturer to the end the consumer.

Prefetching is an important technique used in distributed file system for improving performance. In this paper, we have proposed a novel frequent access pattern-based prefetching algorithm for distributed file system that is implemented in an environment in which multiple types of storage devices such as hard disk, solid state drives and main memory are used. We have also proposed a new placement algorithm for file blocks which move file blocks from one level of memory to other levels of memory by considering the support of the file block access patterns. the combination of frequent access pattern-based prefetching and judicious placement of file blocks in the multiple memory devices in a static manner will reduce the average read access time of the distributed file system. Our simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can improve the performance of the distributed file system by considering average read access time and cache hits. For the performance comparison study purpose, we have considered the support-based prefetching algorithm. © 2019 IEEE.

5G promises a significant increase in network performance, with the support of distributed cloud computing and other technologies. this can result in ten-fold improvements on latency and throughput compared to 4G. With the adoption of 5G and its emerging specifications, network slicing will be important for the edge, thus giving ISPs the opportunity to easily support multi-tenancy, individual customers and use cases in order to meet each slice's unique SLA. this will result in intense traffic distribution at the edge of IP networks, creating a complex and heterogeneous network fabric. 5G network slicing will drive the need for the IP network to support data, control, and management planes separation across a multi-site network fabric, which should have a central view of network state. this knowledge and intelligence should be distributed across the whole fabric and, ideally, throughout the distributed cloud using Software-Defined networking (SDN). In this paper, we present a summarized model of autonomous network that can be adherent to the 5G requirements regarding low latency, a very important question for 5G implementation. then, we simulated an ad-hoc network with and without SDN technology in order to validate the latency improvement, and a traditional SDN network with data communication infrastructure to verify the average latency time. It was observed that the use of SDN technology provided better results, in terms of latency and packet delivery rate, when compared to other network protocols. And the pure SDN network with data communication infrastructure presented an average latency of 0.039 ms.

Although evolutionary algorithms (EAs) have been widely applied in static optimization problems (SOPs), it is still a great challenge for EAs to solve dynamic optimization problems (DOPs). this paper proposes a Cloudde-based differential evolution (CDDE) algorithm based on Message Passing Interface (MPI) technology to solve DOPs. During the evolutionary process, different populations are sent to different slave processes to perform mutation and crossover operations independently using different evolution strategies and then return to the master process to apply migration operation under an adaptive probability. Experimental studies were taken on several DOPs generated by the Generalized Dynamic Benchmark Generator (GDBG) which was used in 2009 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC2009). the simulation result indicates that the proposed algorithm achieves promising performance in a statistical efficient manner.

Internet of things is a new technology which is heavily affecting different aspects of human life. the number of smart devices connecting to IoT and the amount of data gathered or produced by these devices are increasing. In order to organize, secure and analyse the IoT data, novel and creative ideas for IoT design and management are required. Software Defined networking is a new and promising paradigm. Its main idea is to decouple the control functions from physical devices and set them inside a logically centralized control layer. In this paper, a distributed approach is proposed for accelerating data management and balancing the load between IoT devices based on SDN principles. the proposed framework makes it possible to apply different management strategies in a distributed manner. Experimental results indicate that our scheme distributes tasks between devices equally and exhibits a reduction in the average turnaround time and the average waiting time and it will improve the processing performance.

Blockchain is an immutable, transparent, public ledger that is distributed among the nodes in the network. It is a decentralized system in which transactions run on untrusted devices. To ensure equality and fairness, these transactions need to agree on some protocols. they are known as consensus algorithms. they are the core of blockchain and decide how blockchain works. Applying these algorithms, it is almost impossible for unauthorized users to crack the confidential information in the blocks. However, there are some security and performance issues that are required to be improved. In this paper, we have an overlook on various consensus algorithms, their working and where they are applied. In addition, we have reviewed blockchain technology, its application areas, advantages, and issues.

SDN is new networking concept which has revolutionized the network architecture in recent years. It decouples control plane from data plane. Architectural change provides re-programmability and centralized control management of the network. At the same time it also increases the complexity of underlying physical infrastructure of the network. Unfortunately, the centralized control of the network introduces new vulnerabilities and attacks. Attackers can exploit the limitation of centralized control by DDoS attack on control plane. the entire network can be compromised by DDoS attack. Based on packet entropy, a solution for mitigation of DDoS attack provided in the proposed scheme.

Status quo, the process of maintaining land ownership records employed by many countries is archaic, providing scope for fraudulence, tampering and/or misrepresentation of data, with little to no accountability for ensuring the authenticity of the managed records. this inefficiency and lack of transparency in the system can heavily exploited by the malicious middlemen with questionable intent, entrusted with the task of maintaining the records. the paper aims at introducing transparency, especially in the realm of land acquisition and ownership record management, by ensuring that each transaction is validated by all involved parties. It removes the scope for fraudulence by creating an immutable history of records, which is permanently linked to the system, thereby streamlining documentation and record-keeping. A peer-to-peer tamper-proof and forge-proof network is leveraged for this purpose, using a permissioned Blockchain such as Hyperledger Fabric. the system is interfaced with Interplanetary File System for secure documentation record management.
