A number of model transformation approaches have been proposed both from academia and industry since automated manipulation of models plays a central role in model driven development. Ideally, a model transformation technique should also be compatible with manual changes that might be performed by designers on the generated models in order to resolve unforeseen requirements or limited expressiveness of the involved metamodels. this paper proposes an approach to model transformation based on answer set programming. Starting from target models that have been manually modified (and possibly not belong to the co-domain of the transformation being used), the approach is able to deduce a collection of models that approximate the ideal one from which it is possible to generate the previously modified target.

this paper presents a conceptual framework for service modelling. this framework provides a conceptual basis for the modelling and reasoning about services, and the operations, such as composition and discovery, that are performed on them at design and run-time. In particular, the framework should facilitate the use of different service description languages tailored to different service aspects, such as the behaviour of a service and the information it manipulates, or design tasks, such as modelling, analysis and implementation. the idea is that models produced by these languages can be mapped onto a single, common conceptual framework, thereby facilitating one to relate these models, e.g., to verify consistency or conformance. therefore, a requirement on the framework is to capture all elementary and generic service properties that are relevant during the service development process. We capture these properties by analysing existing service definitions and from earlier experience

Large scale integrated enterprise systems must constantly be adapted to changing circumstances in the enterprise. thus applying small incremental changes is needed. this however requires powerful impact management of changes on dependent parts of a system. the model driven architecture (MDA) is a promising concept not only for realizing these systems but also for supporting their evolution, since dependencies can be explicitly modeled. However, current well-known approaches to MDA don't handle dependencies very well: In standard generative MDA global maintenance of dependencies is not supported. In interpretative MDA the process for internal consistency checking of models is not supported. In this paper the need for maintaining dependencies is analyzed, and requirements are given for an improvement on current approaches

the paper proposes an approach to content dissemination that exploits the structural properties of XML document object model in order to provide efficient dissemination by at the same time assuring content integrity and confidentiality. Our approach is based on the notion of encrypted post-order numbers that support the integrity and confidentiality requirements of XML content as well as facilitate efficient identification, extraction and distribution of selected content portions. By using such notion, we develop a structure-based routing scheme that prevents information leaks in XML-data dissemination and assures that content is delivered to users according to the access control policies, that is, policies specifying which users can receive which portions of the contents. Our proposed dissemination approach further enhances such structure-based, policy-based routing by combining it with multicast in order to provide high efficiency in terms of bandwidth usage and speed of data delivery, thereby enhancing scalability

the success of web services has influenced the way in which Grid applications are being written. Web services are increasingly used as a means to realise service-oriented distributed computing. Grid users often submit their applications in the form of workflows with certain Quality of Service (QoS) requirements imposed on the workflows. these workflows detail the composition of web services and the level of service required from the Grid. this paper addresses workload allocation techniques for Grid workflows. We model a web service as a G / G/ k queue and minimise failures (QoS requirement violation) of jobs by solving a mixed-integer non-linear program (MINLP). the novel approach is evaluated through an experimental simulation and the results confirm that the proposed workload allocation strategy performs considerably better in terms of satisfying QoS requirements of Grid workflows than scheduling algorithms that don't employ such workload allocation techniques.

Enterprise software development is a very knowledgeintensive process. Modern component-based application development organizations often require collaboration of several stakeholders distributed between different sites. To support developers in performing their tasks, suitable knowledge management tools are required that are able to leverage semantics. Recent developments in the context of the Semantic Web and ontologies including technologies such as Topic Maps or RDF/OWL show potential to address those issues. In this paper, we present an architecture for a distributed knowledge management information system that uses Topic Maps in the background and Semantic Wikis as front end for developers to document and access relevant software development knowledge. the backbone is a Topic Map application infrastructure (called "Topic Grid" in the following) allowing transparent, node-spanning access to different Topic Maps distributed in a network.

the Advances in Quality of Service Management (AQuSerM) workshop is a satellite event of the Tenth IEEE international EDOC conference (EDOC 2006), held between the 16th and 20th of October 2006. the AuQSerM workshop was established as a forum for presenting advances in QoS-oriented techniques and tools for managing enterprise architectures, encompassing approaches to monitoring, diagnostics, runtime analysis and prediction and adaptation. Model-driven approaches are a special focus of the workshop. Service Level Management (SLM) is the process of managing the Quality of Service (QoS) demanded by clients and offered by providers. In the past, SLM approaches have focused on service contract definition, monitoring and reporting and have typically been handled by enterprise system management tools such as Microsofts SMS, CAs Unicenter and Empirixs OneSight. However, traditional approaches are inadequate when dealing with complex service-oriented architectures. Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) are compositional, dynamic and often distributed over the internet. For such architectures, SLM becomes a difficult problem that can no longer be handled by traditional management and monitoring strategies.

Negotiation is a process between self-interested buyers and sellers in a business transaction trying to reach an agreement on one or more issues. the outcome of the negotiation depends on several parameters such as the agents' strategies and the knowledge one agent has about the others. It is important that an agent chooses a proper negotiation strategy based on the available information in order to achieve its goal. In this paper, we first perform a comparative evaluation of commonly used negotiation strategies for bilateral single-issue negotiation and show that there is no one strategy which works well in all situations. We then present an adaptive negotiation strategy that a seller can use to increase its gain. the strategy adapts itself based on information obtained about the buyer's strategy from an ongoing negotiation process and past negotiation experiences. We present extensive simulation results to show that for a wide variety of cases, the adaptive strategy gives better performance compared to the best non-adaptive strategy found from the comparative evaluation done earlier

the growing scale and complexity of the enterprise computing systems under distributed and heterogeneous environments present new challenges to system development, integration, and maintenance. In this paper, we present a model driven Web service development framework to combat these challenges. the framework capitalizes on the UML profile for Enterprise distributed Object computing (EDOC), MDA and Web services. Within the framework, first, the platform independent models (PIMs) are created using the EDOC profile. Second, the PIMs are broken down into sub PIMs according to functional decomposition, each of which can provide service independently and will be implemented in a Web service. then, these sub PIMs are transformed into the corresponding Web service interface models for service publication and invoking. Finally, supported by model transform techniques, the sub PIMs are implemented into Web services on specific platforms. Automatic model transformation is the key to this framework, therefore, the transformation from EDOC models to Web service interface models within this framework is deeply discussed, and the detailed transformation rules are proposed. A case study is also provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of these rules and the merits of this framework
