Web service (WS) is a fast growing technology. A set of WS is one of the best applications of multi-agent system, i.e. a WS is represented by an agent. this fact results in WS encapsulation and causes difficulty to track its internal behaviour. One solution of this problem is to use a notification system, where changes in WS are represented by a set of notification messages. the set of notification messages gives only static information about WS. If time1 between notification messages is considered, then a web service dynamics can be described. this article proposes an approach for estimating WS runtime and prediction of WS operation faults. Prediction of WS runtimes can optimize scheduling and support efficient use of grid resources. In our approach we propose to estimate expected WS runtime based on WS invocation parameters using case-based reasoning and prediction of WS operation faults using rule-based reasoning. this article consists of two main parts. the first one includes introduction into reasoning and its two special types, namely case-based [3] and a rule-based reasoning. In the second section, prediction of WS runtime is presented. In the third section, the diagnostics of web service operation faults is offered.

the rapid and wide diffusion of mobile phones has made the word 'ubiquitous' a very trendy buzzword not only in the computer science field but also in the social sciences. In preparation for the deployment of the technologies and services within what is being referred to as the advent of the 'ubiquitous network society', the Japanese government released a set of short-term policy strategies called the 'u-Japan Strategy', which aims to a) diffuse ubiquitous computing environment realized by wireless technologies and sensor networks and b) realize user-centric service model. this paper discusses how to keep or improve information quality within such ubiquitous network services. Firstly, the definitions and classification of ubiquitous services are discussed based on previously presented research results. then we review a representative typical ubiquitous service example from which we derive a hypothesis on user acceptance. Finally we test this by applying the correspondence analysis to the results of a user questionnaire.

distributed denial of service (DDoS) is a major threat to the availability of Internet services. the anonymity allowed by IP networking, together withthe distributed, large scale nature of the Internet, makes DDoS attacks stealthy and difficult to counter As various attack tools become widely available and require minimum knowledge to operate, automated anti-DDoS systems are increasingly important. this paper studies the problem of providing an anti-DoS service (called AID) for general-purpose TCP-based public servers. We design a random peer-to-peer (RP2P) network that connects the registered client networks withthe registered servers. RP2P is easy to manage and its longest path length is just three hops. the AID service ensures that the registered client networks can always access the registered servers even when they are under DoS attacks. It creates the financial incentive for commercial companies to provide the service, and meets the need for enterprises without the expertise to outsource their anti-DoS operations.

Although they face technical challenges similar to those addressed in the literature of distributedcomputing and database systems, they present a unique set of problems and issues that have not been addressed. For example, timely propagation of user operations across computer networks is needed to promote mutual awareness of users and user activities. this paper presents our prototyped collaborative editing system with a novel and yet extremely efficient mechanism for synchronizing updates from concurrent editors, which has been integrated withthe SODA native XML database management system.
