Managing the evolution of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a key challenge for modern enterprises. Current approaches to address this challenge focus on EA plans, indicating projected future states of the architecture. Nevertheless, these plans neglect the role of the information technology (IT) project, which actually performs the transformation of the current to a planned EA. In this paper, we account for the importance of IT projects as drivers of EA transformation by providing a viewpoint for roadmapping the development of the EA over time. Complementing, we further introduce a conceptual model, which explicates the information demands for such roadmap plans.

What constitutes an enterprise architecture framework is a contested subject. the contents of present enterprise architecture frameworks thus differ substantially. this paper aims to alleviate the confusion regarding which framework contains what by proposing a meta framework for enterprise architecture frameworks. By using this meta framework, decision makers are able to express their requirements on what their enterprise architecture framework must contain and also to evaluate whether the existing frameworks meets these requirements. An example classification of common EA frameworks illustrates the approach.

this paper develops an automated tool for generating the student's course schedule. A lot of students course schedule are manually generated based on syllabus information, such as class title, summary and categories written by the teachers. However, at a large number of classes, it is very exhaustive to manually generate the course schedule forthe students, due to various constraint condition or criteria. thus, this paper has formalizes this problem as a constraintsatisfaction/optimization problem, develops an automated tool, and evaluates the effectiveness of our system.

By the automaton theory and related notion of synchronous product, an approach for On-the-Fly test cases synthesis is presented in the paper . In the approach, both FSM models for specification and test purposes make synchronous product guided by practical execution of the system under test, and verdicts from the process of synchronous product determined test cases synthesis. the approach, making test cases synthesis dynamically, needs only to construct a small portion of state space of system before a test case is found, avoiding the problem of state-explosion by utilizing ldquoOn-the-Flyrdquo testing. Finally, a simple example through this paper is studied in detail to illustrate how to apply the proposed approach.

Good IT decision making is a highly desirable property that can be furthered by the use of enterprise architecture, an approach to IT management using diagrammatic models. In order to support decision making, the models must contain only relevant information since creation of enterprise architecture models often is a demanding task. this paper suggests a method for constructing an enterprise architecture model framework where enterprises in need of architecture and rational decision making are designated. the paper also describes the outcome of the method at a case for a Swedish utility company, Vattenfall AB.

Gartner predicted that by 2010, 40% of EA programs will be stopped due to the failure of delivering business value. An organization needs a practical solution to achieve an EA vision. the EA essential approach should be that of business service and process orientation than systems and IT orientation. We propose an actionable enterprise architecture (AEA) which is based on BPM (business process management) and SOA (service oriented architecture), and connected to service & process orientation and engineering. the architecture proposed provides traceability between service-oriented enterprise architecture and its solution. the proposed architecture can transform enterprise architecture from conceptual to physical levels (solutions) with a service and business process paradigm.

Most Software Transactional Memory (STM) research has focused on multi-core processors and small SMP machines; limited research has been aimed at the clusters, leaving the area of big SMP machines unexplored. Big SMP machine usually use Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) to unburden the overloading between CPUs and the memory. In this paper, we evaluate several STM implementations on big SMP machine with cache coherent NUMA (ccNUMA). We found the remote memory access latency is the key factor influencing the STM performance. We also analyze the different design choices of RSTM. Finally, we conclude a specific design to achieve high performance in this domain.

Previously [1], we reported a coarse-grained parallel computational approach to identifying rare molecular evolutionary events often referred to as horizontal gene transfers. Very high degrees of parallelism (up to 65x speedup on 4,096 processors) were reported, yet the overall execution time for a realistic problem size was still on the order of 12 days. With the availability of large numbers of compute clusters, as well as genomic sequence from more than 2,000 species containing as many as 35,000 genes each, and trillions of sequence nucleotides in all, we demonstrated the computational feasibility of a method to examine "clusters" of genes using phylogenetic tree similarity as a distance metric. A full serial solution to this problem requires years of CPU time, yet only makes modest IPC and memory demands;thus, it is an ideal candidate for a grid computing approach involving low-cost compute nodes. this paper now describes a multiple granularity parallelism solution that includes exploitation of multi-core shared memory nodes to address fine-grained aspects in the tree-clustering phase of our previous deployment of XenoCluster 1.0. In addition to benchmarking results that show up to 80% speedup efficiency on 8 CPU cores, we report on the biological accuracy and relevance of our results compared to a reported set of known xenologs in yeast.

When making decisions on whether to deploy services in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), it is necessary to have some quantitative measures on the effectiveness of the services to business goals. the quantitative measures will greatly help IT managers and/or strategic business planners to perform their jobs. this paper presents an evaluation method for the services in SOA to promote business and IT alignment (BITA). the method proposed in the paper quantitatively evaluates the contribution of the services to the non-functional requirements (NFRs)of IT system. Instead of a single determined value, the evaluated value is modeled as a normally distributed value defined by its mean and variance. As a benefit of using normal distribution, the value will be closer to real value. the proposed method is implemented in a distributed web application *** method and the tool are applied in an investment performance analysis system.

Feature modeling is an essential activity for modeling and managing the variability of a software product line. On the other hand, aspect-oriented programming provides effective means for modularizing feature implementation. Although current AOP tools (e.g., AJDT) provide a mechanism for switching aspect modules on and off to configure a product, this becomes infeasible in the context of large-scale product lines with thousands of variations. In this paper, we describe how feature modeling can be integrated with aspect-oriented programming to perform automated product derivation efficiently and effectively in the context of large-scale product lines.
