Large scale data centers for crawlers are able to maintain a very large number of active http connections in order to download as fast as possible the usually huge number of web pages from given sections of the WWW. this generates a continuous stream of new URLs of documents to be downloaded and it is clear that the associated work-load can only be served efficiently with proper parallelcomputing techniques. the incoming new URLs have to be organized by a priority measure in order to download the most relevant documents first. Efficiently managing them along with other synchronization issues such as URLs downloaded by different processing nodes forming a cluster of computers are the matters of this paper. We propose efficient and scalable strategies which consider intra-node multi-core multi-threading on an inter-nodes distributed memory environment, including efficient use of secondary memory. Combining simulations of different scale in one application is non-trivial issue. this paper proposes solution that supports complex time interactions that can appear between elements of such applications. We show that High Level Architecture, especially its time management service can be efficiently used to distribute and communicate multiscale components. Grid HLA Management System (which was presented in our previous work [10]) is used to run HLA-based distributed simulation system on the Grid. the example application is build from simulation modules taken from Multiscale Multiphysics Scientific Environment (MUSE)[8], which is sequential simulation system designed for calculating behaviour of dense stellar systems like globular clusters and galactic nuclei.

Scientific advances in the development of video processing algorithms now allow various distributed and collaborative vision-based applications. However, the lack of recognised standard in this area drives system developers to build specific systems, preventing from e.g. content analysis components upgrade or system reuse in different environments. As a result, the need for a generic, context-independent and adaptive system for storing and managing video analysis results comes out as conspicuous. In order to address this issue, we propose a data schema-independent data warehouse backed by a multiagent system. this system relies on the semantic web knowledge representation format, namely the RDF, to guarantee maximum adaptability and flexibility regarding schema transformation and knowledge retrieval. the storage system itself, namely data warehouse, comes from the state-of-the-art technologies of knowledge management, providing efficient analysis and reporting capabilities within the monitoring system.

Super long integers which are outside the confines of numbers defined in existent program language compilers or interpreters are widely employed in cryptographic applications. the paper designs 10 algorithms, which almost all address operands by the byte, and are used for the operation of unsigned super long integers, including conversion, shift, comparison, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and power. the paper analyzes the time complexity of each of the algorithms in the amount of bit operations, presents the source code of the power operation in C, and gives some examples which are utilized for validating the correctness of the algorithms according to the properties of a group.

this paper gives a survey about the impact of modern parallel/distributedcomputing paradigms over parallel genetic algorithms (PGAs). Helping the GA community to feel more comfortable withthe evolving parallel paradigms, and marking some areas of research for the high-performance computing (HPC) community is the major inspiration behind this survey. In the modern parallelcomputing paradigms we have considered only two major areas that have evolved very quickly during the past few years, namely, multicore computing and Grid computing. We discuss the challenges involved, and give potential solutions for these challenges. We also propose a hierarchical PGA suitable for Grid environment with multicore computational resources.
Making multigrid algorithms run efficiently on large parallel computers is a challenge. Without clever data structures the communication overhead will lead to an unacceptable performance drop when using thousands of p...

parallelism has long been used to increase the throughput of applicationsthat process independent data. Withthe advent of multicore technology designers and programmers are increasingly forced to think in parallel. In this paper we present the evaluation of an encryption core capable of handling multiple data streams. the design is oriented towards future scenarios for internet, where throughput capacity requirements together with privacy and integrity will be critical for both personal and corporate users. To power such scenarios we present a technique that increases the efficiency of memory bandwidth utilization of cryptographic cores. We propose to feed cryptographic engines with multiple streams to better exploit the available bandwidth. To validate our claims, we have developed an AES core capable of encrypting two streams in parallel using either ECB or CBC modes. Our AES core implementation consumes trivial amount of resources when a. Virtex-II Pro FPGA device is targeted.
