Although blockchain technology was first introduced in 2008 and materialised in 2009, the early usage of blockchain were mainly limited to financial technologies, particularly cryptocurrencies. Later, blockchain became a widespread emerging technology, utilised in multifaceted sectors and applications. In fact, various new and innovative application of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies are still continuously being researched and explored. On the other hand, smart-contracts were first introduced in 1990s, however, it did not gain enough popularity until being integrated with blockchain technologies lately. the duo lately been seen as the key to many innovations in various industries and sectors. So, we took data from 1445 blockchain-related patent documents and tried to map out the historical and current trends in patenting activities in the blockchain field. this helps us get a better grasp of how blockchain technologies are evolving and being tracked. this paper discusses software reusability strategies for performance and reliability modeling tools. Special emphasis is on web-embedded tools, and the potential interaction between such tools. We present the system analysis tools (SAT) application programming interface, which allows for quickly embedding existing tools in the web, and generally simplifies programming analysis tools by structured reuse. We also introduce the FREUD project, which has as primary aim to establish a single point of access to a variety of web-enabled tools. In addition, FREUD facilitates configurable web tools by allowing a user to select from the registered modeling formalisms, solvers and graphics tools, and by providing glue between the tools through scripting. We will argue that this form of reuse is particularly suitable for performability modeling tools because of their predictable usage pattern. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1998.

Cloud computing is a technique that enables the users to access applications to infrastructure through subscription methods on remote location. Cloud computing, being collective technique, possesses features of various technologies like Virtual Private Network (VPN), distributed technology, parallel computing, grid computing as well as ubiquitous computing. Cloud storage is the infrastructure offered by the cloud computing in order to facilitate users to upload and access their data on cloud space. Due to multitenancy of cloud storage, the data uploaded on it is the more prone to security breaches. To secure the data on cloud, cryptographic technique is used which works like safeguard against data leakage. this research work focuses on cryptographic algorithms from most basic to advance and also presents their comparative analysis. Moreover, the paper focuses on the nature of the algorithms in context of cloud that is homogeneous and heterogeneous nature. In the cloud computing, homogeneous nature algorithm is used only if the encryptors and decryptors both are same while heterogeneous refers to the situation in which encryptors and decryptors are different entities.

Big Data Cyber Security Analytics (BDCA) systems use big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop and Spark) for collecting, storing, and analyzing a large volume of security event data to detect cyber-attacks. the state-of-the-art uses various design strategies (e.g., feature selection and alert ranking) to help BDCA systems to achieve the desired levels of accuracy and response time. However, the use of these strategies in the state-of-the-art is not consistent, which exposes a lack of consensus on "when to use (and not to use) these design strategies?" In this paper, we follow a systematic experimentation framework to quantify the impact of four design strategies on the accuracy and response time with respect to three contextual factors i.e., security data, machine learning model employed in the system, and the execution mode of the system. For the aimed quantification, we performed experiments on a Hadoop-based BDCA system using four security datasets, five machine learning models, and three execution modes. Our findings lead us to formulate a set of design guidelines that will help researchers and practitioners to decide when to use (and not to use) the design strategies.

Deduplication on encrypted data is a promising trend for both cloud storage providers and subscribers. Data deduplication allows cloud storage providers (CSP) to save storage space by eliminating the copies of the same data. Data encryption can ensure the confidentiality of customer's data both in transit and at rest. However, deduplication that works on detecting identical data does not work well with encrypted data provided by conventional encryption. Encryption of the same data using different key (by different subscribers) will result in different ciphertexts that will not allow the CSP to carry out deduplication. In this paper, we propose a scheme to allow deduplication on encrypted data with the aid of a key server deployed at cloud service provider premises, called HEDup (Homomorphic Encryption Deduplication). In this solution, the subscriber encrypts data with data-encryption key obtained from key server via various key-management schemes, one of which uses homomorphic encryption. the main contributions of this project are (1) with a key server deployed at cloud provider premises, it will not only deduplicate data from particular domain but also for the CSP's entire client base including public and different enterprise users-this results in higher storage savings and (2) data owners still maintain exclusive control of their data and data-encryption keys, i.e. CSP has no access to any of it-strong confidentiality guarantees. the experiments conducted show that data uploads and downloads using HEDup have minor storage and latency overhead. Our implementation also shows significant performance optimization when compared to commercial key management service for cloud object storage. © 2015 IEEE.

In distributed virtual environments (DVEs), maintaining a consistent view of the virtual world among all users is a primary task. Due to the resource limitations such as network capacity and computational power, the consistency of the virtual world cannot be guaranteed sometimes. In this paper, we try to address this problem in client-server-based DVEs by considering server side network capacity limitation. We look at the position update packets from client to server and show the impact of packet loss due to server side network capacity limitation on the consistency of the virtual world. We assume clients use Dead Reckoning (DR) models to control position updates. In order to adapt client updates with the server side network capacity to avoid update packet loss, two server assistant DR threshold tuning policies for different updating schemas are proposed in this paper. the proposed tuning polices are validated to have good performance by simulation results.

Metacomputing aims at using the computing power of computers linked by networks for various applications, which used to be tackled by dedicated supercomputers a few years ago. Web-based metacomputing offers a cheap and efficient solution for parallel and distributed computing by exploiting idle cycles from the Internet. Research literatures have been published to report the state of the art of metacomputing by addressing the developed prototypes architecture, support methodologies and technologies, programming APIs, example benchmarks and experimental performances. this work tries to answer the question: why the metacomputing system is undesirable in performance, applicability and reliability. In this work, the system's components are modelled as three roles: client, worker and manager. their performances are individually investigated in terms of the theory of constraint: objectives, requirements, prerequisites, conflicts and injections for identifying core problems and exploring efficient solutions. the main contribution of this work is to be a very first literature as conceptual guidelines for design and optimisation of metacomputing systems.

Graphic Processing Unit (GPU), with many light-weight data-parallel cores, can provide substantial parallel computing power to accelerate several general purpose applications. Both the AMD and NVIDIA corps provide their specific high performance GPUs and software platforms. As the floating-point computing capacity increases continually, the problem of ``memory-wall'' becomes more serious, especially for array-intensive applications. In this paper, we optimize and implement two SPEC2k benchmarks mgrid and swim on multithreaded GPU using CUDA and Brook+. In order to reduce the pressure on off-chip memory, we make use of data locality in multi-level memory hierarchies and hide long memory access latency via double-buffers. To balance inter-thread parallelism and intra-thread locality, we further tune thread granularity for each kernel and empirically study the best equilibrium point for this problem. Flow control instruction can significantly impact the effective instruction throughput. Oriented to this problem, we introduce a diverge elimination technology to convert condition expression into computing operation. through all the optimizations, we gain the speedup of 10×-34× to the CPU implementation on the GPUs of AMD and NVIDIA respectively. Finally, we summarize and compares the GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA in hardware and software.

Hyper-relational knowledge graphs (HKGs) significantly enhance traditional triple-based knowledge graphs (KGs) by introducing role-value pairs. Recently, Transformer-based hyper-relational knowledge graph completion (HKGC) methods have gained widespread adoption and achieved substantial advancements. However, these methods primarily focus on entity prediction during training, leading to suboptimal performance on evaluationmetrics like Hit@k. In HKGs, entities and relations are interdependent, and the exclusive emphasis on entity prediction during Transformer training limits the self-attention mechanism's ability to capture relational properties information adequately. this limitation hinders the model's ability in learning entity prediction tasks efficiently. therefore, in this paper, we propose MTL-HKGC, a multi-task learning framework aimed at augmenting the model's capacity to grasp relational properties information by incorporating a relation prediction task. this augmentation, in turn, enhances the effectiveness of entity prediction. Additionally, we introduce an effective dynamic loss balancing method that adjusts loss weights dynamically based on task difficulty changes during training. this approach enables the model to prioritize the entity prediction task after mastering simpler relation prediction task, thus enhancing HKGC performance. Our experimental findings on two prominent HKGC datasets validate the effectiveness of our proposed MTL-HKGC.
