Exploiting the cloud storage hierarchy both within and across data-centers of different cloud providers empowers Internet applications to choose data centers (DCs) and storage services based on storage needs. However, using multiple storage services across multiple data centers brings a complex data placement problem that depends on a large number of factors including, e.g., desired goals, storage and network characteristics, and pricing policies. In addition, dynamics e.g., changing user locations and access patterns, make it impossible to determine the best data placement statically. In this paper, we present TripS, a lightweight system that considers both data center locations and storage tiers to determine the data placement for geo-distributed storage systems. Such systems make use of TripS by providing inputs including SLA, consistency model, fault tolerance, latency information, and cost information. With given inputs, TripS models and solves the data placement problem using mixed integer linear programming (MILP) to determine data placement. In addition, to adapt quickly to dynamics, we introduce the notion of Target Locale List (TLL), a pro-active approach to avoid expensive re-evaluation of the optimal placement. the TripS prototype is running on Wiera, a policy driven geo-distributed storage system, to show how a storage system can easily utilize TripS for data placement. We evaluate TripS/Wiera on multiple data centers of AWS and Azure. the results show that TripS/Wiera can reduce cost 14.96% similar to 98.1% based on workloads in comparison with other works' approaches and can handle both short- and long-term dynamics to avoid SLA violations.

this paper describes the model, methods and tools to find rational ways of the energy development with regard to energy security requirements. As known, energy security is directly related to the uninterrupted energy supply. It is important to choose rational ways of the energy development with ensuring energy security in the future. A number of the specific external condition combinations of energy sector operation and development taking into account uncertainties and other factors leads to a huge possible energy sector states set. therefore it cannot be processed in reasonable time. To overcome this issue an approach of combinatorial modeling is applied to manage the growing size of the energy sector states set.

Embedded system design is the core for many time constraint application designs like avionics and railways. these systems employ multi core architecture for faster and time critical applications. Use of mu Iti cores as the processing part is ever challenging due to the complexities involved in their designs, memory architecture, issues related to synchronization between the cores and problems like deadlock between the executing cores. Also as per the Moore's Law, number of cores on a single processing element increase exponentially becoming double after every 18 months. In the face of such fast increasing cores the time is not far when there will be 100 or 10 00's of cores on a single chip. then there will be bigger challenges of dealing with problems like heat dissipation, concurrency control and speedy communication between the cores, without compromising the performance and outcome of embedded systems employing these multiple cores. In this paper we have studied some of the preexisting protocols and technologies for handling concurrency in large number of multi core systems and have proposed a framework for concurrency control with a routing protocol for multi core system employing 64 cores. then we have proposed to stale this system for higher number of cores leading to up to 100 cores and will study the performance on an embedded system.

Co-authorship analysis in science and technology partnerships provides a vision of cooperation patterns between individuals and organizations and is still widely used to understand and assess scientific collaboration patterns. this analysis is conducted by means of bibliometry, which is the quantitative study of scientific production. However, with the evolution of database management systems, there was a significant increase in the volume of stored data, which could difficult the analysis. In this context, the developed work presents an efficient parallel optimization of bibliometric information, in order to allow this scientific analysis in a Big Data environment. Our results show that the time taken to calculate the transitivity value using the sequential approach grows 4.08 times faster than the parallel proposed approach when the number of nodes tends to infinity; the time taken to calculate the average distance and diameter values using the sequential approach grows 5.27 times faster than the parallel proposed approach when the number of nodes tends to infinity. Also, the results found present good values of speed up and efficiency.

With the rapidly development of mobile cloud computing, in order to provide a better experience for mobile users, the computing and storage functions of mobile terminals are migrated to the cloud. In the application research of virtual machine migration, the transmission rate of wireless channel will changed with the changes of network condition. this paper focuses on the pre-copy transmission algorithm in the process of virtual machine migration in mobile cloud computing. A pre-copy transmission algorithm based on optimal stopping theory (PTAOST) was proposed, the algorithm constructs an optimal stopping problem based on an optimal transmission rate in the process of virtual machine migration. And we solve the model by using the optimal stopping theory, and get an optimal transfer rate. So the total amount of data and migration time is reduced during the process of virtual machine migration. In simulations, the PTAOST is compared with the transmission algorithms offered by some literatures, and we obtained some comparable results about the total migration data and total migration time to different transmission algorithms. the simulative results show that the proposed algorithm has less the total amount of migration data and total time of migration and improves the performance of migration. © 2017, Springer international Publishing AG.

Nowadays, the rapid growth of data across the Internet has provided sufficient labeled data to train deep structured artificial neural networks. While deeper structured networks bring about significant precision gains in many applications, they also pose an urgent demand for higher computation capacity at the expense of power consumption. To this end, various FPGA based deep neural network accelerators are proposed for higher performance and lower energy consumption. However, as a dilemma, the development cycle of FPGA application is much longer than that of CPU and GPU. Although FPGA vendors such as Altera and Xilinx have released OpenCL framework to ease the programming, tuning the OpenCL codes for desirable performance on FPGAs is still challenging. In this paper, we look into the OpenCL implementation of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) on FPGA. By analysing the execution manners of a CPU/GPU oriented verision on FPGA, we find out the causes of performance difference between FPGA and CPU/GPU and locate the performance bottlenecks. According to our analysis, we put forward a corresponding optimization method focusing on external memory transfers. We implement a prototype system on an Altera Stratix V A7 FPGA, which brings a considerable 4.76x speed up to the original version. To the best of our knowledge, this implementation outperforms most of the previous OpenCL implementations on FPGA by a large margin.

Content-centric networks provide effective support for content services through a caching mechanism, so the caching of the placement strategy has become a hot research. In this paper, the problem of content placement in CCN is taken as the starting point, focusing on the allocation of caching resources for district partitioning according to the number of users given the content of predictable hotspots. When the hot topic breaks out, the first to the user from the content of the nearest as the goal, from the user’s point of view as its characteristics, nested using improved genetic algorithms to select hotspot cache placement points, and a CCN hotspot cache placement strategy based on genetic algorithm is proposed. In the simulation experiment, the cache placement strategy proposed in this paper is compared with other traditional strategies in network performance. the simulation results show that the strategy can effectively reduce the access hops and average access latency, reduce the server load and improve the user satisfaction. © Springer international Publishing AG 2017.

this paper proposes a method for fault location in distribution networks with distributed generation based on an improved spiking neural P system with anti-spikes (IASNP system). In the IASNP system, firing mechanism, fuzzy logic, new types of neurons and a matrix algorithm are introduced. the IASNP system is used to model the distribution networks while its matrix algorithm locates faults by considering the causality between regions and the associated nodes. Finally, two cases, including a multi source distribution network and distribution network with distributed generation, are used to verify the validity and accuracy of the proposed method. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2017.

Labelled splicing P systems are distributed parallel computing models, where sets of strings that evolve by splicing rules are labelled. In this work, we consider labelled splicing systems with the following modifications: (i) the strings in the membranes are present in arbitrary number of copies;(ii) the rules in the regions are finite in number. Results on the language family generated by the labelled splicing system in comparison with the language families of the Chomsky hierarchy, including recursively enumerable languages, are obtained, by involving only either one or two membranes in the P systems considered. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2017.
