High neural selectivity is an important indicator of how well a neural electrode will perform in a clinical setup. Among other factors, neural selectivity of an electrode strongly depends on its implant location. Today, the neural selectivity is evaluated by performing animal experiments and consequent offline analysis. the most selective electrode implant location is therefore difficult to predict. Here we developed a software tool to characterize neural electrodes' selectivity in real-time, in vivo. A graphical user interface (GUI) allows controlling the software tool. Our tool is adapted to use a commercially available neurostimulator (TDT, Tucker-Davis Technologies, US) but can be easily adapted to other systems. Electromyographic (EMG) recruitment curves and selectivity indexes (SIs) were obtained stimulating the sciatic nerve of four pigs. the functionality, execution time of stimulation and correct SI calculation by the software-platform were evaluated by testing twelve intraneural electrodes.

Earthquake induced steel structural failures are prevalent due to the high lateral forces applied to the structures resulting in excessive sway and more importantly ultra-low cycle fatigue of structural members. Even though lateral load resisting systems such as concentrically braced frames are installed to the moment resisting frames, ultra-low cycle fatigue induced brace failures play a dominant role in the context of local buckling of the members due to the amplified strains at the vicinity of the brace mid length followed by high strain concentrations. However, the concentric braced frames are designed and detailed deliberately to buckle out of plane in order dissipate the input seismic energy given to the structure by an earthquake. this global buckling of the braces is favorable to a structure in terms of the hysteretic response where the local buckling of the braces drives instant failure of the brace due to ultra-low cycle fatigue fracture. Cyclic void growth models are used to predict this fracture initiation due to ultra-low cycle fatigue in small scale steel components where the method requires a detailed stress and strain history obtained from a meticulous finite element model. If these models are to apply to a case where a multi storey building with braced frames in which an earthquake is applied, analysisof the finite element model to obtained the stress and strain histories until the failure, is quite impossible due to the high computational expense. In this regard, the present study first proposes a new method to model the structural behavior of concentric braces under cyclic loading using fiber beam column elements used in the OpenSees framework and then a new modifiedcyclic void growth model is proposed. To do that, experimental tests of concentric braces were modeled using OpenSees to observe the applicability and the limitations of fiber beam column element in terms of hysteretic response and strain variation in predicting the ultra-low cycle fat

Phenomenal interest in new and emerging technologies like nanotechnology has led to an increased demand for graduates who have sound knowledge of fundamental principles underlying the design and operation of complex systems. However, incorporation of such learning processes, including state-of-art technological tools and equipment, requires considerable time and financial resources. Keeping curricula and labs current withthe rapid change of technology pose another challenge for academia. Visualization plays an important role in the modern scientific process. In an era where the means of generating data through natural inquiry or simulation have vastly exceeded the power of direct analysis, tools to interpret and explore the data are crucial to the continued pursuit of knowledge (Patterson in Nanoscale visualization: transfer function exploration, 2003, [1]). Visualization of processes can be achieved by using simulation tools. In addition to cost savings, simulation offers a number of other advantages: (a) allowing the user to modify system parameters and observe the outcomes without any harmful side effects (b) eliminating component or equipment faults that affect outcomes (c) supporting users progress at their own pace in discovery and understanding of concepts and issues, and (d) enhancing the presentation of "dry" concepts by integrating theory and practice (Cherner et al. in Use of adaptable simulation-based virtual laboratories for teaching alternative energy and energy conservation in engineering & technology programs, 2011, [2]). Simulation has another major advantage in that a simulation is task- and learner-neutral;it models an object/system construction and operation or learning situation. Within simulation functionality, there are no restrictions on the student's actions. Realistic simulations visualize processes occurring in the devices and enable students to observe the physical processes at different levels (from macroscopic to subatomic), analyse co

Sentiment analysis is probably the most actively growing area of natural language processing nowadays, which leverages huge amount of user-contributed data on Internet to improve income of businesses and quality of life of consumer. the majority of existent sentiment-analysissystems is focused on English, due to lack of resources and tools for other languages. To fill this gap for Persian language, in our previous work we have compiled the first version of PerSent Persian sentiment lexicon, which was small and included only words and phrases from general domain. In this paper, we present its extension with words from three different domains and evaluate its performance on polarity classification task using various machine learning-based classifiers. We use a multi-domain dataset to evaluate the performance of our new lexicon on various domains. Our results demonstrate usefulness of the new lexicon for analysis of product and movie reviews and especially of political news in Persian language.

Tool competitions are a special form of comparative evaluation, where each tool has a team of developers or supporters associated that makes sure the tool is properly configured to show its best possible performance. Tool competitions have been a driving force for the development of mature toolsthat represent the state of the art in several research areas. this paper describes the international Competition on Software Testing (Test-Comp), a comparative evaluation of automatic tools for software test generation. Test-Comp 2019 is presented as part of TOOLympics 2019, a satellite event of the conference TACAS.
