the distribution network will employ more AC/DC hybrid power supply mode in the future. In this paper, an optimal configuration method of converter capacity in AC/DC hybrid distribution network considering overload risk is proposed. Firstly, the time series probability model of feeder equivalent load in distribution network is considered, and an analytical method for calculating overload risk of AC/DC hybrid distribution network based on load variable space partition is proposed. Secondly, the optimal configuration model of converter capacity is established with the objective of minimizing the comprehensive cost, and the optimization model is solved by combining the recursive method and the smooth Newton method. In addition, the optimal configuration model reveals that AC/DC hybrid power supply mode can significantly reduce the overload risk of distribution network, and the optimal configuration scheme of AC/DC hybrid distribution network is closely related to its load characteristics. Finally, the effectiveness of the model is verified by the AC/DC hybrid distribution network with three AC feeders.

the genome and interactome of Saccharomyces cerevisiae have been characterized extensively over the course of the past few decades. However, despite many insights gained over the years, both functional studies and evolutionary analyses continue to reveal many complexities and confounding factors in the construction of reliable transcriptional regulatory network models. We present here a graph-based technique for comparing transcriptional regulatory networks based on network motif similarity for gene pairs. We construct interaction graphs for duplicated transcription factor pairs traceable to the ancestral whole-genome duplication as well as other paralogues in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We create a set of network divergence metrics predicated on the presence and size of arrays that are associated in the literature with gene duplication, within other network motifs. We compare the developed metrics to paralogue protein, gene and promoter alignment-free sequence dissimilarity to validate our results. We observe that our network divergence metrics generally agree with paralogue protein and gene sequence dissimilarity, and notice a weaker agreement with promoter dissimilarity. Our findings indicate that genetic divergence between paralogues is accompanied by a corresponding divergence in their interaction networks, and that our approach may be useful for investigating structural similarity in the interaction networks of paralogous genes.

the authors have designed a platform for research and consulting through a high-level collaborative seminar series to promote networking in proactive artificial intelligence (AI) for cybersecurity (SPAIC). the primary objective is to cover a wide range of techniques in cyber threat intelligence gathering from various social media to dark-net and deep-net, hacker forum discussions, and malicious hacking. the secondary objective is to bring together researchers and consultants in the field to come up with automated and advanced methods of attack vector recognition and isolation using AI and machine learning (ML). In most cases, the hidden nature of security issues makes it hard for fixes in real time. Advanced AI techniques have proven to be superior to the current static methods in cyber threat detection. there have been numerous recent advances in the field of AI, especially in algorithmic approaches such as Speech and Signal Processing, Machine and Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, Data Mining, Augmented/Virtual Reality, Blockchain, and Cognitive Computing. these highly advanced methods provide tremendous opportunities for behavior/trend based automated analysis, detection, and prevention of cyber attacks/threats. the seminar series focus on techniques developed to identify emerging cyber threats including information on newly developed malware and exploits that have not yet been deployed in a cyber-attack. the seminar series will be augmented with various data mining and machine learning techniques as they have proven to recall malicious hacking with high precision. In addition to the potential of development of concepts and whitepapers for a large-scale center, the seminar series will result in identification and recruitment of industrial, academic and/or government partnerships in support of initiatives and research and consulting collaborations as well as creation and support of resources such as research consortia, collaboration sites or social network

Wearable sensors have emerged as low-cost portable gait assessment tools in the past decade. However, it is necessary to process the signal collected from the sensors to analyze the human gait. Different spatio-temporal features for example, stride length, step length etc. can be obtained by detecting specific events in a gait cycle. Extraction of a single cycle is an important step for detection of events such as heel strike, foot flat, toe off, and mid-swing. Existing methods assume gait signals are fully periodic, whereas they are actually quasi-periodic. this quasi-periodicity increases with decrease in walking speed. Individuals with abnormal gaits are unable to walk in high speed. We propose a novel approach to extract cycles from gait signals with varying periodicity which are appropriate for low gait speed. To discriminate normal and abnormal gait pattern, we consider normal and equinus gait data in experimental analysis. three participants walked normally, two participants simulated walking with equinus on the right leg, and two participants simulated walking with equinus on both legs. We have used two Sparkfun 9DoF Razor Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors having sampling frequency of 200 Hz. the performance of proposed approach is demonstrated through statistical error analysis. It outperforms the existing techniques, specially in case of low speed gait data. the complexity analysis is also presented to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. Finally, Fisher's Discriminant Ratio is applied on the entire feature set to identify most prominent features to discriminate between normal and abnormal gait pattern.

the experimental analysis of the thermal fluid dynamic behavior of double skin facade (DSF) requires full scale prototypes or actual facade systems. Because of the crucial interaction with the solar irradiation, tests are usually carried out on facades that are outdoor exposed. However, such an approach has limitation when it comes to a systematic and parametric analysis of the performance of these technologies, as the (outdoor) boundary conditions can hardly be controlled. To overcome this limitation, a new test bed has been conceived and constructed to allow carrying out systematic and parametric analysis on DSF systems. the test bed is a full scale DSF, with the possibility to vary the cavity depths from a minimum value of 200 mm to a maximum value of 600 mm. the total height of the DSF sample is ca 3.6 m, with a transparent window area of approx. 1.4 m (W) x 2.8 m (H). the test bed is installed in a steel frame and is tested through a Climate Simulator facility (a hot-box like facility, with the possibility to irradiate the outside surface of the test sample through a solar simulator). In the paper, the concept of the test bed, the construction features, and its sensor/control set-up are presented, together with an overview of its potentials (and limitations) to carry out experimental analysis on the thermal fluid dynamic behavior of DSF systems. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process concerning the formation of digital representations of the physical and functional features of built spaces. A significant increase of the BIM utilization in the Architecture, Engineering, and construction (AEC) sector are becoming more accessible and functional. the BIM methodology was developed in order to provide an effective system for building management as well as to organize the collaboration between different parties. Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) is maintained by buildingSMART;enable an interoperable format for exchanging BIM data between different software platform which is capable of restoring both geometric information and rich semantic information of building components to support lifecycle data sharing. BIM provides a detailed 3D geometrical model with rich semantic data. In contrast, Geography Information Science (GIS) offers powerful spatial analytical tools. As the benefits brought by the integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographic Information systems (GIS) are being proved by many researchers, further spatial analysis can be applied that can benefit indoor-outdoor integrated applications. Recent research has mainly discussed the process required for data conversion from BIM to GIS. thus, more specifics requirements on the functionalities of a 3D indoor applications need to be considered. In this study, the use of BIM IFC for 3D indoor GIS was reviewed, especially on the data conversation, data management, and 3D spatial analysis. the aim of this paper is to reveal the 3D indoor GIS requirements for space management. therefore, the requirements were analyzed in four aspects: 1) data level integration;2) data management;3) 3D indoor GIS analysis;and 4) 3D space management. 3D space management was developed according to the requirement. In order to ensure the continuous operation of (i) solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) as the main parts of auxiliary power units (APUs) or stationary power generators, and (ii) solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) as highly-efficient systems for advanced fuel generation, it is of crucial importance to be able to determine specific cell processes and to identify diverse potential degradation mechanisms at the earliest possible stage. this ensures the electrochemical processes within reversible solid oxide cell (rSOC) systems to be optimized with the aim to achieve the maximum overall efficiency for energy and fuel generation. Moreover, if degradation is identified at early stage, appropriate countermeasures can be taken, thereby considerably extending the lifetime of the rSOC system under operation. In this study, industrial-scale rSOCs are analyzed by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) as well as advanced electrochemical tools (i) distribution of relaxation times (DRT) analysis, and (ii) total harmonic distortion (thD) analysis. the DRT approach is applied in order to isolate the processes involved in both operating modes and to deliver suggestions for the overall operation optimization. Eventually, a practical tool applicable for online-monitoring systems- total harmonic distortion analysis (thD) is applied to identify carbon deposition degradation mechanisms in a high temperature fuel cell system, which was induced by fueling SOFC with methane. this method enabled detection of specific frequencies for the failure mode mentioned, thus making a basis for fast development of cost-effective and practical online monitoring tool. this technique enables to in-operando control rSOC systems, to identify diverse degradation mechanisms at initial state and to prolong the lifetime of the technology used. the term "price volatility" is used to describe price fluctuations in asset prices. Prices of basic energy (natural gas, electricity, heating oil) are generally more volatile than prices of other commodities. Volatility indicates a measure of price uncertainty in markets. When volatility rises, firms may delay investment and other decisions or increase their risk management activities such as hedging. the costs associated with such activities tend to increase the costs of supplying and consuming energy. the main goal of this paper is to build a volatility model and demonstrate a mechanism to forecast electricity price volatility using electricity distribution of EMCALI ("Empresses Municipals de Cali") in Colombian electricity market. the objectives of this study are threefold: 1) First we begin our approach by introducing the energy market in Colombia and EMCALI's role in generation and distribution of electricity. 2) Next we discuss some of the more widely used time series techniques and also show how we can utilize generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (GARCH) volatility model as a volatility forecasting model for the energy price in Colombia. 3) Finally, we apply this model to estimate the behavior of the electricity price volatility and discuss the results obtained. the paper ends with conclusions.
