In this paper we describe a fast and interactive model to simulate and control the fire phenomenon. We use a modified interactive fluid dynamics solver to describe the motion of a 3-gas system. We simulate the motion of oxidizing air, fuel gases, and exhaust gases. the burning process is simulated by consuming fuel and air based on the amounts of fuel and air inside each grid cell. 3D mesh morphing based on a metamesh has fundamental limitations of complicated in-between meshes and no topology (connectivity) changes in a metamorphosis. this paper presents a novel approach for 3D mesh morphing, which is not based on a metamesh. the approach simultaneously interpolates the topology and geometry of input meshes. In our approach, an in-between mesh contains only the vertices from the source and target meshes. Since no additional vertices are introduced, the in-between meshes are much simpler than those generated by previous techniques.

Lworld is a computergraphics animation system based on L-systems, a parallel rewriting technique used primarily in computergraphics for plant modeling. Because rule-based programming is a powerful technique, we use it as a basis for a general-purpose animation system. We describe the architecture, the features, and the programming language of the animation system. It is particularly well suited to model fractal curves, plants, fractal landscapes, group animation, visualization, and evolutionary optimizations. Lworld allows users to create real-time animations as well as raytraced image sequences for further movie production. It is freely available, and runs on PCs.

An accurate representation of phenomena such as interference and colour separation generally requires a fine spectral representation of light instead of the commonly used RGB components. In this article, we introduce and experiment with a general approach to create similar and convincing effects, with a simple RGB BRDF model. Image and video compression is a typical data-intensive and computation-intensive application. As general processors are inefficient and power consumptive in processing such tasks, more and more novel architectures appeared. this paper first gave an overview about the media compression standards, and then introduced several novel architecture processors, such as VIRAM, DIVA, Imagine, Cell, RAW and TRIPS. Some of these processors used PIM technology, and some are based on stream processing, the others are multicore and polymorph architecture. Finally compared and analyzed the design parameters of these processors, such as the performance and power consumptions. According to the media compression features which have constraints on architectural design, we concluded some useful suggestions for media compression processor architecture designers, that include execution model, memory hierarchies, performance and dissipation, etc.

To study on dynamic characteristics of rock slope under blasting loads, both an indoor experiment method of concrete slope model and finite element model of that are adopted in this paper. the results show that not only propagation laws but also attenuation characteristics of the detonating earthquake waves on slope are different to those of level ground. that is to say, the attenuation of particle peak vibration on slope is much smaller along with blasting source distances than those of level ground, and there are vibration amplification effects at the top particles of the slope;On the other hand, not only can the damping ditch reduces the strength of peak particle vibration greatly, but also improves stress states of the slope under blasting loads. In addition, by comparing experiment results, the results of simulation are consistent withthose of model test of the slope under blasting loads well.
