Nowadays, there is an increased concern for stability improvement in modern electrical systems, especially due to the use of distributed generation into the grids. Stability of power system is one of the main challenges to improve the power system efficiency. A Power system Stabilizer (PSS) is a cost-effective controller and efficient device to increase the stability and reliability of power systems. In this paper, the transient stability of ieee 9-bus system is improved with the integration of excitation system and PSS. the relative power angle is considered to evaluate the transient stability. the simulation results show that the existing system has oscillated. However, when the system is integrated with the exciter ST1A and PSS1A, the peak power angle decreases from 132.1 degrees to 103.7 degrees, and the settling time is 5.53 s. Additionally, the speed deviation is improved when PSS connected to ST1A.

the advancement of hybrid energy storage systems (HESS) in applications like mobile robots requires effective control of interface converters to maintain stability and extend the lifespan of the connected energy storage systems. therefore, this research highlights the importance of precise voltage control at the supercapacitor module and accurate current injection to achieve optimal active filter power fluctuations throughout the system's life cycle. To address these needs, comprehensive models were developed, and from these, transfer functions were derived to fine-tune the control structures. the methodologies proposed significantly enhance the interface converters' responsiveness and efficiency, thereby improving the overall system dynamics. Validations conducted using real-world data demonstrate the model's potential in bolstering system stability and optimizing energy management. © 2024 ieee.

With or without a crisis such as a pandemic, the continuous service of quality healthcare is a necessity for a community to thrive. Given the current problem, the researchers determined that the integration of Availability Management and Events and Monitoring Management Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) frameworks in a healthcare mobile application to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of the services provided. Hence, the researchers created the LifeDoc: Availability and Monitoring system of Online Medical Consultation that caters to both patients and doctors and is available for Android users only. Technologies such as React Native and WebRTC were used for the development of the mobile application wherein the processing of information occurring throughout the system is stored in a secure cloud-hosted database called MongoDB. the researchers adopted the Agile Methodology approach throughout the execution of the project as this approach was determined by the researchers to be the effective and suitable approach given the time constraints and user requirements. Tests were performed in the system based on the Institute of Electronics and Electrical engineering (ieee) standard for Software Test Documentation to certify that the functionalities of the project were working according to specification. the importance of implementing appropriate service management framework coupled with mobile technology makes quality healthcare accessible and a right for all.

Making use of blockchain in complex projects in ways which scale and keep costs down can lead to very complex architectural patterns. the problem with such patterns is that it is very easy to set up a system that only seems decentralized but, in fact, operates under a degraded trust model or is even centralized in practice. Using a blockchain to implement a centralized system represents a grotesque waste of computational resources for no benefit at all. this paper analyzes several cases of such architectural malfunction and shows how degraded trust can occur, how to detect it, and how to respond to this issue. © 2024 ieee.

this paper proposes the application of a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller for the observer-based regulation of biomass concentration for a continuous-discrete system. An observer is essential to estimate the values of biomass concentration since the controller depends on these measurements. the analysis focuses on the continuous-discrete nature of the system which is represented by a continuous bioreactor system with discrete output measurements. the maximum allowable sampling partition diameter is determined along with the corresponding convergence time. these results are then compared to another work that used a feedback linearising control to achieve biomass regulation. the results obtained with the PI controller proved to be far more superior both in terms of maximum possible sampling time and convergence time. these findings confirmed the satisfactory and improved performance of the proposed observer-based controller. © 2021 ieee.

the present paper deals with the issue of measurement delays which constitute a very prominent problem faced by most control systems. the system considered is that of a bioreactor used for the biological treatment of wastewater. the recording of the output substrate concentration of such systems usually involves a delay which results from the dependency of the flow of the liquid on its consistency. A PI observer-based control is applied and its performance is analysed in terms of the maximum delay for which the system is stable and converges as well as in terms of the convergence times. Based on these parameters, the results are compared to those obtained by a feedback linearising observer-based system. this comparative analysis showed that the PI controller performed better than the feedback controller, hence confirming its efficiency in biomass regulation in the presence of delayed measurements. © 2021 ieee.

the insertion of a needle for many scientific researches is an important aspect to consider and is the simplest and most diagnostic of the medical and interventional procedures. In needle based medical procedures, a flexible needle is directed at the soft tissue to achieve a predefined target position. the efficiency of the needle insertion depends on the precise control of the tip of the needle. this article provides a complete mechanical model for inserting needles into soft tissues. the proposed needle insertion model depends on the insertion speed as the input, which can then be used as a needle direction control. the model considers the length of needle and bevel angle. Various experiments were performed that inserts a needle into biological tissue. the results show the accuracy of the proposed system at different application speeds with an error of up to 2 mm. © 2021 ieee.

Tetraplegia is a total paralysis due to injury at C1 - C5 - T1 of spinal cord. People with tetraplegia have very limited or no muscle function from area below the neck. For mobility, electric wheelchair is a good option. However, since commercial electric wheelchair used joystick as its movement control, this is quite difficult for tetraplegic patients to use it. Facial features such as eyes gestures have the potential to be manipulated as instruction to control the movement of electric wheelchair. therefore, this work aims to develop a system that can classify different eyes gestures of human subject and convert it into different state of control instructions. Methods for object detection that had been developed by researchers in recent years are suitable to be used to detect faces and eyes. this work proposed the combination use of Haar Cascade classifier and Dlib facial detector for detecting face and eye region, respectively. Next, several image enhancement techniques and morphological operations are performed to detect the iris. Image moments is used to calculate the center coordinate of the iris. Afterward, the iris coordinate is used to determine the classification of eye gestures. the proposed method has been proven to be efficient in detecting eyes gestures. the ratio of detection accuracy is ranged between 73.5% and 99.83% depending on the ambient lighting.

Unmanned aerial vehicles are very attractive to industrial practitioners due to their high maneuverability and ability to perform vertical take-off landing. the accuracy in altitude and yaw movement control become vital for vertical take-off landing. this paper examines and compares the ability of a second order sliding mode controller in altitude and yaw tracking control of a quadcopter against the traditional proportional-derivative controller. Both controllers were designed and numerically analyzed on a mathematical model of a quadcopter. Two types of input were generated, namely;slow-rate input in which only one set point was set, and fastrate input in which more than one set point was set. Both inputs were injected into the system respectively and both controllers were evaluated and compared in terms of maximum overshoot, settling time and root-mean-square tracking error. Simulation results showed that second order sliding mode controller outperformed traditional linear controller in all considered performance indicators for both hovering and yaw motion control. A reduction of more than 80% has been achieved in terms of maximum overshoot. the chattering effect was reduced by using logistic function. the effectiveness of this controller would promote its application in real-time due to its great control performances compared to standard controller.

the increasing demand for sustainable and reliable energy sources has spurred significant interest in renewable energy systems. the paper introduces a novel design for a grid-connected hybrid renewable energy system, integrating a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind turbine and a solar photovoltaic (PV) conversion system. the core focus is enhancing energy conversion efficiency using advanced components, including inverters and rectifiers. A significant contribution of this work is the application of the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm, which optimises solar power output and wind speed, ensuring maximal energy extraction from both wind and solar sources. Furthermore, the paper presents innovative control techniques tailored to the nonlinear model of the converter-generator system. these techniques are pivotal in achieving the dual objectives of maximising energy conversion efficiency and ensuring system stability. the robustness and strength of the proposed approach are rigorously analysed using backstepping control methods and Lyapunov theory. the results of this analysis confirm the effectiveness and high efficiency of the proposed control strategy. this research contributes to the field of renewable energy by providing a more efficient and stable approach to hybrid energy conversion, which is vital for advancing sustainable and reliable energy systems. © 2024 ieee.
