In this paper, we propose an optimized tensor model for direction of departure (DOD) and direction of arrival (DOA) estimation with coprime multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar. We first develop the Toeplitz matrix using the consecutive lags in the sum-difference coarray after vectorizing the array covariance matrix. We then construct a generalized three-way tensor model and derive the optimized tensor by maximizing the number of targets. then, the existing COMFAC technique is exploited for angle estimation. We show that the proposed method can identify more targets and achieve better performance by enforcing the three-way structure as compared to the subspacebased algorithms. Numerical simulations are provided to validate the theoretical analysis.

the emerging problem of automotive radars congestion is addressed in this work. Modern automotive radars handle this problem via randomization of the transmit signal parameters. Alternatively, frequency allocation methods lead to narrow-band radar operation and as a result, reduced range resolution. this work proposes to mitigate the mutual interference between radars, while optimizing the localization performance by collaborative spectrum allocation and waveform design. According to the proposed approach, the transmit energy is allocated across the entire available spectrum by minimization of the Weiss-Weinstein bound. the proposed spectrum allocation approach allows to avoid frequencies occupied by interfering radars and the use of the entire spectrum allows to achieve the maximal possible resolution.

By means of frequency-shifting jamming processing of target echo signal and pulse compression in imaging processing, group of false targets will appear in different spatial locations around the true target. the feature extraction of false targets is complex and limited in existing countering methods. In this paper, an anti-jamming method against frequency diverse array (FDA) is proposed to identify the spatial location characteristics of the deception false targets. By adjusting the parameters of the radar transmitting signal, the method simultaneously transmits the anti-jamming signal and carries out the false target identification and elimination in the range dimension. Eventually, the optimal signal parameter design of anti-jamming signal is given by comparing with the range resolution. the validity of the proposed method is proved by deducing the mathematical model between the spatial distribution characteristics of the false targets and the radar transmitting signal parameters and demonstrated by simulations.

In this paper, we investigate the issue of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation of non-circular (NC) signals, and propose a modified nested array with enhanced degrees of freedom (DOFs) and a vectorized NC propagator method (VNCPM) algorithm which can utilize the difference-sum co-array to perform DOA estimation. Specifically, we modify the conventional nested array by switching the positions of the two subarrays aiming to obtain a difference-sum co-array with higher DOFs. In order to fully exploit the provided DOFs and obtain higher estimation accuracy, we utilize the NC characteristic to generate the equivalent received signal of the difference-sum co-array and exploit the quasi-stationary property of the signal to avoid the spatial smoothing technique which leads to the DOF degradation. the modified PM based on the rotational invariance is then employed to obtain DOA estimates, where NC phases can be eliminated. Simulations are provided to evaluate the superiority of the proposed configuration and DOA estimation algorithm.

To reduce the consumption of spectrum and hardware resource, two methods are proposed to design the integrated waveform that can satisfy the requirements for both radar and communication. First, a linear superposition (LS) method is proposed to design the transmit waveforms of a uniform linear array (ULA). In the far field of the ULA, the designed transmit waveforms can simultaneously synthesize the desired radar and communication waveforms in different directions. However, the designed waveforms usually have high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). then, an alternative projection (AP) method is proposed to reduce the PAPR of the transmit waveforms. the AP method can devise the waveforms with constant modulus. Both the proposed methods can perform radar and communication function in different directions. Finally, several simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

A rapid increase in popularity of smart devices equipped with acoustic sensors enables the design of speech enhancement methods for distributed setups. In this work, we present a distributed noise reduction scheme in which the time-frequency masks and spatial filters are estimated at the nodes based on the locally available microphone signals and the compressed signals received from other nodes, where each node transmits only a single signal. the proposed block processing facilitates online estimation of masks and distributed spatial filters in an interchanged fashion. the results of performed numerical experiments indicate that the proposed online distributed noise reduction scheme performs similarly to the centralized approach, in which signals of all microphones of the distributed arrays are available for joint processing, and it significantly outperforms the local approach in which only the local microphone signals are available for the estimation of masks and spatial filters.

this paper introduces the hierarchical truncated Gaussian model in representing automotive radar measurements for extended object tracking. the model aims at a flexible spatial distribution with adaptive truncation bounds to account for partial-view measurements caused by self-occlusion. Built on a random matrix approach, we propose a new state update step together with an adaptively update of the truncation bounds. this is achieved by introducing spatial-domain pseudo measurements and by aggregating partial-view measurements over consecutive time-domain scans. the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified on a synthetic dataset and an independent dataset generated using the MathWorks Automated Driving toolbox.

Channel estimation is the process of estimating channel parameters from the received samples, which are corrupted by noise. Most of the conventional methods are designed for noise-free or Gaussian noise environment. However, impulsive noise, which is also referred to as outliers, is common in practice and performance of the conventional algorithms degrades in the presence of outliers. In this paper, we propose a robust super-resolution channel estimation algorithm to deal with outliers by replacing ℓ 2 -norm constraints with ℓ 1 -norm constraints to enhance robustness to outliers and solving an improved convex program to obtain the channel parameters, the angles and time delays then are estimated jointly. Simulation results show that the proposed robust super-resolution channel estimation algorithm outperforms the traditional methods and show great robustness to the outliers.

Jacobi-type algorithms for simultaneous approximate diagonalization of real (or complex) symmetric tensors have been widely used in independent component analysis (ICA) because of their good performance. One natural way of choosing the index pairs in Jacobitype algorithms is the classical cyclic ordering, while the other way is based on the Riemannian gradient in each iteration. In this paper, we mainly review in an accessible manner our recent results in a series of papers about weak and global convergence of these Jacobitype algorithms. these results are mainly based on the Lojasiewicz gradient inequality.

In this paper, we proposed a direction of arrival (DOA) estimation method based on sparse Bayesian learning (SBL) and a dynamic transmitted waveform design method for colocated multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar. First, the SBL DOA estimation method is introduced into the MIMO radar with arbitrary transmitted waveforms. Our theoretical derivation shows that the estimation error of the SBL method is related to the transmitted waveforms. then, we minimize the estimation error to obtain an updated transmitted waveforms, which will be transmitted in the next pulse repetition period. Numerical simulations show that compared with traditional orthogonal waveforms, the optimized waveforms could achieve a lower Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) and smaller DOA estimation error using the SBL method.
