this paper addresses the challenge of enhancing realism in virtual reality (VR) environmental design, particularly by overcoming the limitations of traditional 3D plant modeling methods that fail to capture dynamic and temporal nuances across annual seasons. the approach integrates realistic, time-sensitive modifications into VR plant modeling. It employs a methodology where source images for instant neural graphics primitives (Instant-ngp) are preprocessed using a Stable Diffusion model optimized by a Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) focusing on tree structures. this preprocessing step enriches Instant-ngp's input data, enabling the creation of 4D plant models that exhibit both spatial detail and temporal dynamics, mirroring natural seasonal variations. Stable Diffusion and LoRA are applied beforehand to improve the realism of the generated models. Virtual source trees are utilized for testing and refining the approach, aiming to enhance the representation of plant models in VR environments. this research contributes to making VR simulations more immersive and realistic, with potential applications in virtual landscaping, urban planning, and therapeutic environments. the study acknowledges the initial nature of this research and the ongoing need for exploration to fully realize these applications' potential.

In the realm of lightweight materials in architecture, knitting as a discrete additive method has enabled the creation of functionally graded material (FGM). For the current research in encoding methods for knitting FGM materials, researchers tend to focus on a limited number of surface transitions to study localized material traits. However, designing at an architectural scale demands multiple hierarchical structures for smooth transitions due to amplified performance differences, resulting in a complex system. thus, organizing knitting units during encoding becomes crucial. this paper proposes a modulus-based encoding method for architectural knitting FGM materials, accommodating various surface types to create continuous gradient patterns. Based on the Grasshopper platform and STOLL machines, the method translates 3D models into machine encoding by using BMP (Bitmap) graphics. the method was successfully applied in a workshop in Tongji University. this research explores the fabrication of knitting FGM materials with multi-patterns in architecture, aiming to inspire innovative applications of fabrics in architecture.

computer geometric graphics modeling refers to the restoration of the target graphics in the computer graphics environment, and the visual presentation of users, which has been applied in the fields of graphics, virtual reality and computer-aided design. However, the traditional modeling system has some problems, such as low precision and low efficiency, so this paper proposes to use the point cloud data to extract the geometric features of the target graph. In this paper, the Particle swarm optimization-Extreme learning machine (PSO-ELM) algorithm is proposed later, and its principle and operation process are analyzed, and then the algorithm is used to improve the performance of the modeling system. In the comparative experiment of modeling accuracy in this paper, the average modeling accuracy of the intelligent modeling system using the proposed method is 96.97%, while that of the basic system is 94.70%. It is not difficult to see that the experimental results fully reflect the improvement of the modeling accuracy of the modeling system brought by the method in this paper, which is helpful to the application of computer geometric graphics modeling system in practical work. © 2024 the Authors. this study explores the feasibility of formulating cement-based 3D printing mortar by incorporating Yellow River sand as an aggregate. through systematic testing of the printing performance of Yellow River sand 3D mortar with varying proportions, preliminary insights into a formulation suitable for 3D printing of Yellow River sand mortar have been elucidated. Concurrently, the investigation employs the prepared desert sand 3D printing mortar with a robotic platform and an autonomously developed storage-extrusion 3D printing tool head to conduct 3D printing experiments for the designed samples. this comprehensive process validates the feasibility of 3D printing utilizing Yellow River sand mortar. Moreover, this research broadens the utilization scenarios of Yellow River sand and introduces an innovative approach and methodology for dredging and silt removal in the Yellow River.

computer-aided design technologies have become dominant in the industrial, technological and household spheres. computer-aided design systems (CAD) represent an important link in industrial design, widely used in many industries, including energy. computer graphics based on computer platforms (nanoCAD, AutoCAD, Kompas 3D, T-FLEX CAD, etc.) actively replaces pencil design in universities. the complete transition to computer-based learning is associated with a radical change in teaching technology and requires teachers to restructure a number of existing developments, and a system of work evaluating, fixing comments and marks [1-7]. the authors of this publication summarize their experience of a complete transition to computer training in the course "Engineering and computer graphics". © 2024 IEEE.

Urbanisation trends predict that by 2050, 68% of the global population will reside in cities, requiring substantial urban densification, especially in rapidly developing regions like Israel. this paper integrates mixed-use considerations into the environmental design process through a two-step analytical parametric sequence using Grasshopper and Ladybug in Rhino. In the first step, the solar performance of 11,288 geometrical forms based on six distinct building typologies is analysed and evaluated, considering shading and exposure factors. the second step involves simulating the energy performance of the optimal iteration across different mixed-use scenarios and distributions. the case studies explored in Jerusalem and Eilat, two distinct hot climatic regions in Israel, emphasise the significance of solar-driven considerations in achieving optimal energy efficiency in mixed-use configurations. For example, the study found higher energy efficiency in mixed-use scenarios when office spaces were in the lower half as opposed to the upper half of the building mass in the hot, arid climatic conditions of Eilat. While the computationally inexpensive approach proposed in this study is transferable to other hot climates, the specific built form-related inferences for Eilat and Jerusalem can inform mixed-use design decisions by local designers and policymakers.

Wave Function Collapse (WFC) is a constraint-solving algorithm inspired by the quantum mechanics process. However, few attempts have been made in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. WFC literature indicates that it is constrained by its low-fidelity, stochastic process, making it hard to apply in real-world designs, hence its potential lack of application in the AEC sector. Yet this research sees an opportunity in design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA). Unlike typical architectural projects, DfMA is often more constrained due to modularity. How the DfMA modularity benefits and constricts the spatial planning process, and if such a priori modular definition better informs the design process, is yet to be explored. thus, how can the highly constrained spatial rules in DfMA architectural design be used in implementing WFC for higher-fidelity fast design concept prototyping? During the research, a prototype was experimented with and implemented while demonstrating several advantages jointly inherited from both the DfMA and WFC, namely (a) high-resolution rapid prototyping with little user intervention for early-stage DfMA and (b) further building material and topological analytics, were enabled for decision support. Hence, this paper addressed the rarely discussed early-stage design problems in the DfMA lifecycle and contributed to a real-world architectural project-based implementation of WFC integrated into an automated computeraided architectural design workflow inspired by DfMA's modularity that aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and 12 Responsible Consumption and Production.

An approach to computer-aided stability investigation of electronic circuits using the general-purpose circuit simulator LTSPICE is proposed. the stability is analysed in the frequency domain according to the Nyquist criterion, K and μ criteria. the influence of parameter variation and design tolerances on stability characteristics is investigated. the computer implementation is based on pre-defined functions in the graphical viewer. Examples are presented to illustrate the developed procedure for stability investigation. © 2023 IEEE.
