Malware attacks continue to damage organisations and individuals. Whilst existing training such as phishing training is useful to users, it’s applicability to malware attacks is limited. Whilst cyber ranges and cyber training platforms utilising simulation have emerged to provide more realistic cyber training, the use of such technologies is limited within the field of malware. therefore, researchers have surveyed individuals working within and outside of the cyber security sector to identify the demand for such a solution and what key requirements of such a solution would be. the results indicate 80 percent of respondents would be interested in using a malware training platform capable of simulating malware attacks to enhance their awareness, with only 12 percent of respondents believing that current forms of malware training are adequate. Furthermore, respondents indicated a clear preference for an ability to record the interactions with malware, as well as the ability to design and share training packages. Regarding non functional requirements, respondents identified the ability to utilise such a solution through a web browser as the most in demand requirement, with the ability to self-host the solution and to understand which malware types a user is most at risk by being highly ranked.

With the rapid development of internet technology, open-source software mirror sites have become indispensable tools for developers and tech enthusiasts, serving as crucial platforms for resource acquisition. We selected and tested two open-source applications by downloading them from the Tsinghua University Open Source Software Mirror Site and the Nanjing University Open Source Software Mirror Site. By implementing black-box testing strategies, we identified several bugs and design flaws in the software. Furthermore, we utilized large language models such as ChatGPT-3.5, Gemini, Kimi, Llama, ERNIE Bot, and Tongyi Qianwen to analyze the potential causes of these issues, exploring new approaches to AI-assisted software quality assurance. through comparative analysis of feedback from multiple interactions with these large language models, we systematically evaluated their effectiveness in the field of software testing. this study provides empirical evidence for optimizing model applications and enhancing testing efficiency.

this study aims to solve immovability and inflexible image acquisition of traditional license plate recognition systems. this paper proposes an Android-based license plate recognition algorithm system. the system can recognize license plates on smartphones. In this paper, the original image of the license plate is collected by the mobile phone camera, and the RGB color model is converted. then the image is gray processing, global threshold binarized, Canny edge detection, and morphological processing. Secondly, perform projection positioning on the license plate area in the image, license plate correction, license plate color recognition, vertical projection character segmentation, and character recognition. Finally, get the license plate character information, color, and license plate recognition time. In this paper, the license plate recognition algorithm system can send the characters, colors, and recognition time of the license plate to the recorder’s mobile phone utilizing SMS. the simulation test results show that the license plate recognition algorithm system has high recognition accuracy. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Bistatic MIMO radar can simultaneously estimate the direction of departure (DOD) and direction of arrival (DOA) of the target. However, traditional bistatic MIMO radar DOD and DOA estimation methods need a two-dimensional (2D) search, which requires a lot of computation. this paper focuses on the Capon angle estimation algorithm in beam-space for bistatic MIMO radar. the relationship between the DOD and the DOA is obtained by using the information of range-sum. Using this angle relation in beam conversion matrix design and angle search not only reduces the signal dimension, but also transforms the 2D search algorithm into the one-dimensional (1D) search for DOD or DOA. therefore, the computation is reduced effectively and the angle measurement accuracy is improved. the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the traditional methods in angle measurement accuracy under the same signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

this paper presents the design of a wireless sensor network for detecting and alerting the freezing of gait (FoG) symptoms in patients with Parkinson's disease. A novel button pin type sensor node design was developed for easy attachment. three sensor nodes, each integrating a 3-axis accelerometer, can be placed on a patient at their ankle, thigh, and truck. Each sensor node can independently detect FoG using an on-device deep learning (DL) model, featuring a convolutional neural network (CNN). the DL model outputs from the three sensor nodes are processed in a central node using a majority voting algorithm. In a validation using a public dataset, the prototype developed achieved an FoG detection sensitivity of 88.8% and an F1 score of 85.34%, using less than 20k trainable parameters per sensor node. Once FoG is detected, an auditory signal will be generated to alert users, and the alarm signal will also be sent to mobile phones for further actions if needed. the sensor node can be easily recharged wirelessly by inductive coupling. the system is self-contained and processes all user data locally without streaming data to external devices or the cloud, thus eliminating the cybersecurity risks and power penalty associated with wireless data transmission. the developed methodology can be used in a wide range of applications.

With the increasing demand for social security, the performance of expression recognition are getting important for our social life. However, current expression recognition technology has a poor performance in accuracy and speed, especially in the challenge of baby expression recognition. In this paper, we propose a method for baby expression recognition, and design and implement baby expression recognition system bases on a deep learning model. In the system, we build a convolutional neural network model and train a baby expression dataset. During the method, we use a forward propagation neural network, which can loads a picture directly and output the recognition result. the method also provides various functions of baby expression recognition. At last, the experiment shows that our method can balance the requirements of accuracy and speed perfectly. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Collaborative learning has been widely used to foster students' communication and joint knowledge construction. However, the classification of learners into well-structured groups is one of the most challenging tasks in the field. the aim of this study is to propose a novel method to form intra-heterogeneous and inter-homogeneous groups based on relevant student characteristics. Such a method allows for the consideration of multiple student characteristics and can handle both numerical and categorical characteristic types simultaneously. It assumes that the teacher provides an order of importance of the characteristics, then it solves the grouping problem as a lexicographic optimization problem in the given order. We formulate the problem in mixed integer linear programming (MILP) terms and solve it to optimality. A pilot experiment was conducted with 29 college freshmen considering three general characteristics (i.e., 13 specific features) including knowledge level, demographic information, and motivation. Results of such an experiment demonstrate the validity and computational feasibility of the algorithmic approach. Large-scale studies are needed to assess the impact of the proposed grouping method on students' learning experience and academic achievement.

Spatial perception and three-dimensional imagination are important characteristics for many construction tasks in civil engineering. In order to support people in these tasks, worldwide research is being carried out on assistance systems based on machine learning and augmented reality. In this paper, we examine the machine learning component and compare it to human performance. the test scenario is to recognize a partly-assembled model, identify its current status, i.e. the current instruction step, and to return the next step. thus, we created a database of 2D images containing the complete set of instruction steps of the corresponding 3D model. Afterwards, we trained the deep neural network RotationNet with these images. Usually, the machine learning approaches are compared to each other;our contribution evaluates the machine learning results with human performance tested in a survey: in a clean-room setting the survey and RotationNet results are comparable and neither is significantly better. the real-world results show that the machine learning approaches need further improvements.

Fog computing has been addressed as one of the prime candidates for Internet of things (IoT) applications in near future. Task management in the large-scale network is the chief research issue in the fog assisted IoT environment. Many research works have been undertaken in task scheduling and offloading in the fog-IoT environment. However security issues in fog task management need to be take into consideration. To be precise, the fog resources are likely to be used by the unauthorized users in recent times. In this paper, we address this above issue and resolve through our novel secure triune layered (Sec-TriL) architecture. A novel triune layer is constructed with device layer, fog layer and cloud layer. In the device layer, Two-Fold Physically Unclonable Function (TF-PUF) approach is presented with the Montgomery Curve Encryption (MCE) to identify the authorized users. In next layer, the fog nodes are arranged in the Hybrid Start Peer-to-Peer (HyS-P2P) topology to manage the fog resources. the tasks from authorized users are scheduled to fog nodes on the basis of Priority-aware Adaptive Scheduling (PAS) protocol that is operated with the Adaptive threshold Function Cross Entropy (ATFXE) queue management policy. When the fog layer suffers with overloading problem, the super fog node initiates Dual-Constraint Teaching Learning based Optimization (DC-TLBO) for task offloading upon task-oriented constraints and fog-oriented constraints. To evaluate the performance of the proposed work, the overall work is implemented in iFogSim simulator. the observations are made on time efficiency (response time, delay, offloading time), throughput and energy consumption show promising results in fog-assisted IoT environment.

Resource utilization in real-time systems must be optimized through effective job scheduling. In this paper, we propose a unique hybrid method for task scheduling that combines Round-Robin (RR) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms. the approach attempts to satisfy real-time processing demands while achieving an optimal balance between energy consumption and total execution cost. the task scheduling process begins by initializing the PSO with a swarm of particles, each of which represents a potential solution. In order to find the best solution, these particles are iteratively updated based on their fitness and that of nearby particles. the RR method is used with the best PSO particle to further optimize scheduling of tasks. Round-robin scheduling (RR) distributes tasks fairly and prevents task starvation. this hybrid approach implies to various real time scenarios such as smart homes, smart city etc. this approach maximizes resource utilization and efficiency by prioritizing task based on priority and urgency in dynamic manner. Experimental results show hybrid approach is more efficient than individual RR and PSO algorithm in term of energy consumption and total execution cost. this hybrid technique provides a strong and adaptable solution for real time task scheduling in resource constraints environment. therefore, this hybrid architecture that combines PSO and RR algorithms shows potential for solving challenging real-time task scheduling issues. the method excels in minimizing execution costs, energy efficiency, and satisfying real-time processing needs. Its capacity to adapt to various real-time situations strengthens its suitability for use in fog computing and improved job scheduling effectiveness in the IoT and smart technology era.
