the purpose of this research is to propose a GUI for visualizing data showing the characteristics of the city and evaluate its effect. the author was interested in visual impressions of the urban environment and wanted to share these impressions with others. First, I made a prototype of "Irosashi Treemap", which plots all colors used for buildings in the western part of Hakodate city. However, the colors displayed by the Irosashi Treemap differed from the impressions of the subjects who knew the western area due to the many achromatic colors. therefore, I collected color from the triangular roof and walls on the first floor of the building I felt frequent. In addition, it was suggested that the "Irosashi Treemap" plotted all colors, making it difficult to understand the characteristics of the colors. therefore, a prototype of "Irosashi Impression", which plots representative colors, was produced. In evaluation experiment, three subjects answered that the impression of the city was close to the impression of the color taken from the triangular roof and walls. In the future, we will ask many people to collect impressive colors of the city. And evaluate the effect of "Irosashi Impression".

the internet is a rich source of textual information, and by purposefully extracting data from its pages, we can obtain vast and suitable datasets for generating language models. However, the current structure of web pages is very diverse and complex. Additionally, web pages often contain irrelevant and sometimes useless information, leading to noise in the data. Developing a tool to extract useful content or eliminate useless content could be an appropriate solution to this problem. Existing methods either extract the main content based on rules, which suffer from decreased performance with changes in page design technologies and require constant updating, or are based on machine learning models. the latter methods also do not perform well across a wide range of pages due to the limited scope of their training datasets or the complexity of the designed models. In this research, we aim to design an intelligent model for extracting main content using the structural, semantic and content features of various page elements. the proposed method divides the page into blocks and by extracting various features, predicts the final label for each block using a machine learning model. To train the proposed model, a dataset of web pages was collected, and the main content of these pages was manually labeled by several volunteers. the advantage of this model is the improved blocking algorithm, which prevents the merging of useful and non-useful texts and avoids generating multiple blocks for a single web page. Another contribution in this research is the design of seven new structural and semantic features According to the results, the proposed method performs 13 % better than other methods.

One-third to half of people with acute stroke result in newly acquired cognitive impairments. Stroke-related cognitive impairments are associated with significant functional disability. Strategy training is an intervention designed to reduce this type of disability. Randomized controlled clinical trials demonstrated the feasibility and efficacy of this intervention. To measure adherence to treatment principles of strategy training, a fidelity assessment can be performed by examining guided and directed verbal and gesture cues made by therapists in video recordings of rehabilitation sessions. One major challenge of this fidelity assessment is that the manual procedure is labor intensive, time consuming, and expensive when it is applied in a large scale. To address this challenge, in one earlier study, we leveraged natural language processing techniques to automatically identify guided and directed verbal cues from the transcripts of recorded rehabilitation sessions. the current work evaluates the feasibility for using deep learning to automatically identify guided and directed therapists’ gestures from recorded videos. the results can be used to guide the design for future study in this area.

this paper presents a lightweight deep learning (DL) model for classifying sleep stages based on single-channel EEG. the DL model was designed to run on energy- and memory-constrained devices for real-time operation with all processing on the edge. Four convolutional filter layers are used to extract features and reduce the data dimension, and transformers were utilized to learn the time-variant features of the data. EEG recordings from a publicly available dataset (Sleep-EDF) are used to train and test the model. Subject-specific training was implemented to improve model performance. the testing F1 score was 0.91, 0.37, 0.84, 0.877, and 0.73 for the stages of awake, N1, N2, N3, and rapid eye movement (REM), respectively. the performance of the model was comparable to the state-of-the-art works with significantly greater computational costs. A reduced-size version of the model has been successfully tested on a low-cost Arduino Nano 33 BLE board. this design holds great promise for future integration into a low-power wireless EEG sensor with edge DL for sleep research in pre-clinical and clinical experiments, such as real-time sleep modulation.

the advancements in power electronics have enabled the building of solid-state transformers (SSTs) to meet the demands of smart grids. An SST is an AC/AC solid-state power conversion system. Typically these SSTs can be classified based on various parameters like series/parallel interconnection, number of power conversion stages, degree of phase modularity, etc. this paper presents a survey of the work carried out to date on SSTs with multi-stage power conversion. Furthermore, the paper highlights the SSTs that enable medium voltage grid interconnection, which is enabled by high voltage (HV) SiC power devices. the design, control, development, and testing of SST with HV SiC 10 kV MOSFETs and 15 kV SiC IGBTs are presented, and a pilot demonstration for the Navy of a medium voltage (MV) 4160 V, 100 kVA SST for “Mobile Utility Support Equipment (MUSE)” based applications enabled by SiC 10 kV MOSFETs will be discussed. A Medium-Voltage Asynchronous Microgrid Power Conditioning System (Microgrid PCS), or MV-MV SST, enabled by HV SiC series-connected power devices to connect, disconnect, and enable power flow between asynchronously connected microgrids and grids is presented. the paper addresses the developed SST prototypes and provides analysis based on the related applications. the analysis also discusses the challenges and future trends regarding the implementation of SST.

Young adults are curious, and due to a lack of proper knowledge of sexual health, they often tend to make risky sexual choices. thus, sex education is important, as it increases individuals' knowledge of sexual health, teaches about safe sex practices and healthy sexual behavior, and enables one to make informed decisions. However, in some countries, like India, sex education is highly neglected due to the societal stigma around the topic of sex. Persuasive interventions have shown success in increasing awareness and promoting desired behaviour. However, most of these interventions consider developed countries. this work aims at investigating persuasive intervention for sex education specifically catered to the Indian audience. Particularly, this work discusses using a persuasive mobile app to help individuals learn about sexual health. As a first step to achieving our goal, we designed a prototype for an app called ‘Sex-Educated’ with persuasive features that aim to promote safe sexual practices and increase awareness about risky sexual behaviour among Indian adults. To evaluate the effectiveness of our app with persuasive design and features, we conducted a user study with 57 participants. Our results show that Indian adults are motivated to use a gamified persuasive app for sexual health education. Our app with persuasive features is much more effective to encourage learning, create awareness, and bring about positive attitude and behavioral changes towards sexual health.

A transformerless multilevel inductive power transfer (IPT) system converts a medium-voltage (MV, 22.9 kVrms to low-voltage (LV, 1 kV) using a multilevel active rectifier and resonant inverters. Excitation coils are connected to the output terminals of the inverters and generate magnetic fields to excite voltages and currents on a transmitter coil. then, the transmitter coil generates augmented magnetic field to induce load voltages on receiver coils via loose couplings between them. However, high voltage isolation is the key challenge of the MV multilevel system. An MV isolation between the excitation and transmitter coils should be guaranteed for safe operation. In this paper, a novel insulation concept of the excitation coil is proposed. An analytic model calculating the proposed structure’s E-field intensity is also derived. the MV insulation performance is verified by finite-element-analysis simulation and over-voltage (OV) test. the achieved insulation level was 55 kV, and a dielectric breakdown was observed during a 60 kV potential difference between the excitation and transmitter coils. In addition, magnetic flux density, core loss, and cross-couplings between the excitation coils are discussed. An example design of 22.9 kV, 1 MW, 85 kHz, 42-level IPT system is evaluated using PLECS circuit simulation results.

this study aims to determine whether having a therapy session management system will be beneficial and could be an essential factor in supplementing children with ADHD and Development Delay. throughout the years there is a growing problem in terms of mental health condition, one example is ADHD whereas it is considered one of the most prevalent mental health disorders that affects children. It poses some behaviors like impulsiveness, not being able to concentrate or focus and etc. According to studies, it is widely a no-brainer considering that ADHD is one known disorder that affects growth and performance of children and young adolescents. With that in mind, the researchers came up with a system that would help in lessening the effects of the developmental delay and take into consideration the use of web technology in helping children with ADHD. the system itself has three main functions: scheduled online video meetings with a professional therapist, notes and reports for each corresponding patient and complete track of the record of each meeting and their game scores to determine their progress. Based on the test results, the system was found to be useful to ADHD therapy sessions.

this study presents the design, optimization, and performance analysis of a PV-Wind hybrid energy system for Kuakata, a coastal region and popular tourist destination in Bangladesh. the hybrid system integrates Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) and photovoltaic (PV) technology, addressing both noise reduction and safety concerns, making it particularly suitable for tourist-friendly environments. the system was optimized using HOMER Pro simulation software, which provided the optimal configuration based on technical, economic, and environmental parameters. the results show a 100% renewable energy fraction, a Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) of $0.041/kWh, and a Net Present Cost (NPC) of $4.58 million. Additionally, the system demonstrates significant environmental benefits by reducing 230,680 kg of CO 2 emissions annually. this study highlights the feasibility of deploying a PV-Wind hybrid system in coastal regions to meet growing energy demands while promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. the proposed design also enhances the attraction of Kuakata as a tourist destination by offering a quiet and safe renewable energy solution.
