A low-rise reinforced concrete building in Augusta, Italy, isolated at the base and designed following the provisions of the latest Italian seismic regulations, was subjected to a series of free vibration tests in March 2013. the Augusta isolation system consists of 16 High Damping Rubber Bearings (HDRB) and 20 Low Friction Sliding Bearings (LFSB). During the tests the building was pushed slowly to the desired displacement amplitude and then it was left free to oscillate. A baseline fitting scheme was developed for the removal of the low frequency noise from the acceleration records and the production of reliable floor velocities and displacements. the adjusted signals were used for the identification of the properties of the nonlinear isolation system and the flexible superstructure. Structural identification was performed in the time domain using state-of-the-art genetic algorithms such as the Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy (CMA-ES). Identification of the vibrational properties of the superstructure using the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm with Data Correlation, complemented by the Observer/Kalman filter Identification algorithm (ERA-DC/OKID) provides further insight in the dynamic system response. the identified isolator and superstructure properties were input in an overall building model for the dynamic simulation of the system. © 2022 international conference on Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure: Transferring Research into Practice, SHMII. this paper discusses the behaviour of flexural-dominated Partially Grouted (PG) Reinforced Masonry Shear Walls (RMSWs). As Masonry structures behave heterogeneously since they consist of different materials (i.e., blocks, mortar, grout, and reinforcement) having different mechanical properties, it is challenging to predict their behaviour, especially in the post-peak zone precisely. Furthermore, analytical models that predict the load-displacement response of PG masonry shear walls are scarce. therefore, developing simplified analytical models that can predict the behaviour of this type of masonry wall is essential. this paper employed a comprehensive matrix of numerical models to derive a simplified analytical model for flexural-dominated PG masonry walls. the parameters covered by the numerical model included aspect ratio, spacing between vertical and horizontal grouted cells, axial load, the ratio of vertical and horizontal reinforcement, and compressive strength of grouted and ungrouted masonry units. the analytical model is defined by five points: cracking, yielding, ultimate, 20% strength degradation, and 40% strength degradation. the fifth point accounts for the post-peak negative stiffness in the force-displacement relationship of PG masonry walls after the post-peak. the results show that the proposed analytical model provides a good prediction of the lateral load-displacement backbone of flexural-dominated PG masonry shear walls. © 2022 international conference on Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure: Transferring Research into Practice, SHMII. this work addresses the frequency stability issue of microgrids and eliminates frequency errors by incorporating a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. PID controller mitigates frequency error by deriving controller gains with the help of integral time absolute error (ITAE) index as a key design criterion. To validate controller efficacy, various analyses are conducted. the results indicate that ITAE assisted-PID controller achieves good settling time, rise time, and requires minimum controller magnitude. the ITAE-PID controller provides a better frequency response of considered microgrid model. © 2024 IEEE.

the electrocardiogram (ECG) is used to inspect the electrical activity of the heart through which experts can detect heart disorders. Mainly medical experts manually examine ECG patterns;however, manual inspection of ECG signals takes significant amount of time and effort as well as is prone to errors. As a result, researchers have started to design automatic models for ECG patterns classification. In this paper, we propose a novel ECG signals classification model that utilises frequency characteristics of ECG signals coupled with a least-squares support vector machine (LS-SVM). An Optimization Triple Half Band Filter Bank (OthFB) is used to decompose ECG signals into 6 bands delta δ, theta θ, alpha α, beta1 β1, beta2 β2, and gamma γ. then nine statistical features named {max, min, mean, mode, std, variance, skewness, rang, median} are extracted from each band and sent to the LS-SVM. the obtained results showed that the extracted features from the bands alpha α, beta1 β1, beta2 β2, gamma γ gave a high classification accuracy compared bands delta δ, theta θ. the results showed that the proposed model achieved a high accuracy compared with the previous studies. this paper aims at a preliminary research on designing a hybrid mechanism inspired by human leg’s musculoskeletal architecture and locomotion capabilities. Complexity of the workspace solution in serial-parallel mechanisms limits the design approach. In order to have an estimation from the human leg geometry and reachable workspace, a dataset is collected from the human leg of 10 females and 10 males. In addition to the measurements done on the dimensions of this population, the reachable workspace of their leg is observed using MediaPipe pose estimation model. this is done by capturing full movement of the human leg for each person in front of two cameras. On the other hand, the musculoskeletal system of the human leg reveals that two serially attached parallel mechanisms are well-suited for the design. the upper mechanism, which is the thigh mechanism, includes 6 UPS links as the actuators, and a US constraint link to avoid elongation in the leg. Similarly, 3 UPS and a S constraint link form the lower mechanism. Two mathematical models based on geometric approaches are derived for the mechanisms. In order to reach a workspace fitted to that of human leg, an optimization process is performed on the mechanism. Due to the complexity of the whole model’s workspace, the optimization process is done on the upper mechanism to reach its maximum workspace. Based on the ratios between thigh and calf dimensions, the lower mechanism’s design parameters are obtained, and its workspace is verified to be optimal. Afterwards, a simple geometric calculation of the whole mechanism is done and compared with the results of workspace observation using MediaPipe. A brief simulation is done on the upper mechanism in two different movements in order to select suitable actuators based on the required forces. Finally, forward kinematics problem of the mechanism is solved and validated by performing simulations.

In today's rapidly evolving job market, it is crucial for universities to customize the curriculum of their programs to meet the ever-changing needs of the industry. However, the alignment of job candidates with suitable career paths remains a complex challenge, primarily due to the heterogeneous nature of job descriptions and applicant profiles. By aligning educational offerings with market demands, colleges and universities can design and adapt their curricula to meet the specific demands of the job market, ensuring graduates are equipped with the right competencies. Individuals, in turn, can receive tailored career recommendations based on the skills they have gained through their academic programs, helping them identify careers that align with their knowledge and skills. Building on the need for aligning educational offerings with market demands, this research proposes a novel approach, named SkillBridge, to entity matching in heterogeneous datasets. Utilizing pre-trained language models, the method addresses the challenge of unlabeled datasets, which are common in real-world scenarios due to the high cost and time required for labeling. Additionally, graph representation is employed to provide visual explanations and insights into the relationships between entities, enhancing the interpretability of the proposed model. the effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated through its application to job market vacancies and university courses, where it achieves a significant improvement of about 20 % in the F1 score metric compared to the baseline model.

In this digital era, the presence of technologies such as ERP has become something important in a company's business processes inventory management being one of them. In this study, PT XYZ is a pharmaceutical company that has an ERP system for managing spare parts inventory. However, this system is divided into various modules so that there is the potential for stockouts, deadstock, or additional parts which cause high cost effects on inventory. therefore, a web application project called ESS-BPPM based on ASP. NET was created which can manage this spare parts inventory. the development of the ESS-BPPM application uses an Agile methodology and development of the application is divided into 5 main features, namely machine part master management (Master BPPM), Machine part Inventory Monitoring (Master Inventory), Machine part management (Catalog/Cart), Machine part issue submission (Outstanding Issue), and Machine part tracking (Transaction Log/BPPM). After implementation, the resulting application will go through a QA process starting from SIT (System Integration Testing) then UAT (User Acceptance Testing) before the application can be put into production. the result of this study is a system application for issuing and monitoring spare part materials based on existing data in Oracle and SQL Server which can facilitate monitoring and control of material movement. the ESS-BPPM application will be integrated into the Intranet Portal of PT XYZ. the outcome of this research is a web application that can help the management of machine spare parts and provide real-time tracking and logging using both data from Oracle and SQL Server.

Dyslexia is the disorder affecting reading and learning language. Children with dyslexia cannot spell words or acquire reading. Screening is a necessary process to distinguish dyslexia children to treat and help them appropriately. If detection can be done since they are in pre-readers age, it can lessen the undesirable outcomes for children such as lower educational attainment, negative feelings toward learning, and loss of self-confidence and self-respect. Many researchers used computer games for screening purpose. Game design is a significant part to achieve the goal. One of the challenges in creating a game for children is designing the game that maintains children's attention until they finish the game. In addition, the level of difficulties must be suitable for the participants' skill. thus, this paper presents a pilot study that used a picture rotation game to study children behavior in attempt to distinguish them. the game was designed mainly to study behavior of children with dyslexia but not the game design principles. this study found that game playing behavior of the two groups of children was different. the difficulty levels of the game were found to have influence on their gameplay. the findings are used as the guidelines to improve the design of the game to better assess the risk of dyslexia children. © 2021 ACM.

Incorporating efficient and precise gravimetric dosing devices into conveyor lines for bulk material transportation is identified as a critical engineering step to create productive and cost-effective material feeding or mixing plants. So far different dosing equipment has been used to meter the bulk material transportation in cement industries. However, the implementation process of an accurate gravimetric dosing device for transporting Alternative Fuels (AF) in cement plants needs both a stable mechanical framework and an advanced controller architecture integration, since AF dosing performance usually suffers from volatile bulk material properties (e.g. varying bulk density and humidity). this work focuses on the model-based design of a new type of dosing equipment: the Gravimetric Plate Dosing Conveyor (GPDC) to transport fibrous and inhomogeneous low-density materials. Unlike conventional dosing screws of the belt weighing system, this novel dosing approach helps to regulate the mass flow rate accurately and to maintain equilibrium on the conveyor. A twin load cell measuring system has been proposed to accurately measure the material on the conveyor and thereby regulating the output mass flow rate of the material using control systems. A virtual simulation framework has been developed to verify and validate the controller architecture to regulate the speed of the conveyor to maintain a steady mass flow rate. It is shown that the proposed model-based approach supports the design and implementation stage for a more robust controller tuning and a more efficient overall design process. © 2021 IEEE.

Multi-access edge computing (MEC) devices that perform processing between the edge and cloud are becoming important in the Internet of things infrastructure. MEC devices are designed to reduce the load on the edge devices, ensure real-time performance, and reduce the communication traffic between the edge and cloud. In this paper, to enable high-performance and low-power hardware-accelerated processing for different application domains in MEC devices, we propose an automated flow for domain-specific field-programmable gate array intellectual property core (FPGA-IP) generation and testing. First, we perform logic cell exploration using a target user application to find the optimal scalable logic module (SLM) structure, and use the optimal SLM instead of a lookup table to reduce the logic area. Second, we perform routing and FPGA array exploration to determine other FPGA-IP architecture parameters. Finally, the proposed flow uses the explored parameters to automatically generate the entire FPGA-IP and LSI test bitstreams. In a case study, we optimized an FPGA-IP for a differential privacy encryption circuit using the proposed flow. We implemented and evaluated the FPGA-IP with a 55nm TEG chip design. Furthermore, the simulation-based LSI test showed that 100% of the stuck-at faults in the routing paths of the FPGA-IP were detected. © 2021 ACM.
