Nowadays, there are several ways to interact with computers, applications, or even games. these ways vary between using a direct input via typical input mediums, automatic smart sensors, or even human postures. When dealing with people who suffer from disability, the aforementioned ways are not always applicable. In this paper, we introduce a new interaction style that helps disabled people. We focus on using a mental based decision making system. Precisely, we focus on issuing decisions directly from the electrical signals in a human brain. the goal is to transfer the interaction medium into the mental level. For the sake of clarity, we discuss a case study where we use a headset sensors to send direct Electroencephalography (EEG) signals as commands into the Tetris game. this case study is a simulation level suggested as a proof of concept. In the Tetris game the commands are discrete and limited. By preparing the Tetris game and using the Emotiv Epoc with a headset as the controlling tool. this paper provides a mechanism that grants ability for people to control and easily play computer games. this work designed with kind support from the King Abdullah II design and Development Bureau (KADDB).

the financial supply chain involves the flow of cash throughout the physical network. these financial flows are still performing as they did in the past thirty years. the management of the flow of money is complex since the delivery or receipt of a product or service does not necessarily give rise to an immediate collection or disbursement of money. this delay of synchronization impacts significantly the working capital and forces the companies to look for nearly the same visibility in their fmancial flows as in their physical ones. Different supply chain strategies can be used to improve the working capital. Companies can either manage their inventory more efficiently or reduce the Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and payment terms from customers or Increase Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) by paying suppliers on later terms. We address in this the paper the problem of scheduling invoice payments in order to improve working capital performance. (C) 2020 the Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Rehabilitation training is a crucial part that helps stroke patients to train their muscles and rebuild the connection between muscle, nervous system and brain. this study conducts an ergonomic redesign of hand rehabilitation products based on the interview investigation to the user behavior and psychology during the training rehabilitation. the driving part of the device was relocated from the palm to the back of the hand to enhance the experience of stroke subjects to grab objects. Moreover, the device can drive the user to have a positive attitude towards their rehabilitation by visualizing the training improvement. Body scan and 3D printing technologies were utilized to ensure the accuracy of the position of the electric stimulation pads on the hands. the design also enhanced the voluntary motor functions at the palm and the fingers. the research results will contribute in formulating the design criteria of hand rehabilitation training products for stroke subjects.

In the field of brain-computer interface, steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) is widely used because of its stability. Although high-intensity stimulus has good accuracy, it can cause severe visual fatigue and even induce epilepsy in subjects. As well as paying attention to its accuracy, personnel should also pay attention to the comfort of the subject. In this paper, combined with the knowledge of spatial psychology, the overlooking map is proposed as the stimulus source to induce the SSVEP signal. 24 subjects participated in the comparison experiment between the overlooking map and the black and white stimuli, and the EEG signal was processed and analyzed online in real time through the CCA algorithm. Afterwards, the two stimuli were scored in terms of personal preference, comfort, and flickering sensation. the experimental results show that the performance of the overlooking map stimulus source is superior to that of the black and white stimulus, and it is more suitable to induce the SSVEP signal of the subjects. As an important aspect of SSVEP-based application and a necessary factor for commercial promotion, user experience provides a good theoretical and experimental research basis for it.

Although there are numerous ergonomics assessment methods available for assessing safety, comfort, and performance of human-product interactions, there is a lack of comprehensive and widely available computational human-centered design framework that brings human factors principles into engineering design. In existing human-centered design approaches, computational assessment of human-product interaction is not explicitly considered as part of the early design phase, but rather it is addressed downstream in the design process through traditional human factors engineering strategies, often, includes physical prototyping and usability studies with extensive human-subject data collection. We hypothesize that digital human modeling can be utilized not only as an ergonomics evaluation tool but also as an engineering design methodology to embrace form and function during the early phases of the development. the digital human modeling approach has the potential to be a merger between the form and functionality aspects of product design by focusing on human needs, abilities, and limitations. this paper introduces a novel human-in-the-loop methodology which injects human factors engineering principles via digital human modeling into a computational design environment to assess the safety and performance of human-product interactions early in design.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have recently received extensive attention due to their applicability in a wide range of tasks, including drug discovery, text classification, traffic forecasting, hardware design, and recommendation. However, GNNs face significant challenges regarding scalability and the ability to handle large-scale graphs. Several strategies have been proposed to address these challenges, with multilevel optimization being a prominent approach. this technique involves hierarchically generating compact graphs through a coarsening step, applying a target algorithm (e.g., community detection) to the coarsest graph, and then projecting the initial solution back to the original input to derive the final solution. In this work, we introduce a method for graph-based text classification using GNNs. Our approach involves generating ten smaller graphs from an input bipartite graph using the coarsening step within the multilevel optimization and applying a GNN to learn node representations at various levels of granularity. Moreover, we propose a novel semi-supervised coarsening algorithm called Greedy Sorted Matching using Class and Split Information for Bipartite Graphs (GMCb). GMCb leverages class and train-test split information to select document nodes to merge during the graph coarsening step. We perform three types of reductions by either coarsening only one of the partitions of the graph or both simultaneously. Our method is evaluated on eight diverse datasets using three different GNN architectures. We assess each model's performance, memory usage, and training time to understand the impacts of graph reduction. Our experiments demonstrate that contracting the document nodes can improve performance while reducing memory consumption and training time.

Lung disease screening using Chest x-ray (CXR) radiographs can obviously decrease the incidence of lung cancer. Using computer-aided diagnosis system to assist doctors in lung disease screening can greatly improve the diagnosis efficiency. In this paper, a coarse feature reuse deep neural network for CXR lesion detection is proposed. Firstly, we design a coarse feature reuse (CFR) block that can reuse low-level semantic features and extract high-level semantic information, which is used to replace the max-pooling layer in the shallow part of the network to achieve better feature extraction. A novel backbone network - RRCNet, which combines RepVGG block and Resblock, is proposed. the RepVggblock is used for better feature extraction at shallow layers and the Resblock is used for better feature fusion at deep layers. Extensive experiments on VinDr-CXR dataset demonstrate that our RRCNet-based detection network outperformes other classic detectors on both mAP (17.67%) and inference speed (0.1426s).

the migration from a monolithic to a microservice architecture is a complex process that involves separating an application into independent services that work together to provide the complete functionality that the legacy system provides. During this process, despite extensive planning; limitations and difficulties can arise, primarily related to code rewriting and updating outdated technologies. To mitigate all difficulties, it is necessary to first document the architectures properly; analyze their advantages and disadvantages, use cases, tech-nologies, and the existence of similar migration processes, among others. Gathering comprehensive documentation from the legacy system is also essential to establish a solid foundation of requirements and functionalities on which to conduct the migration. Finally, the choice of tools, such as in our case, those offered by Spring Cloud, Spring Boot, and Docker can greatly facilitate this process. the migration to microservices offers benefits such as easier implementation of new functionalities, quicker problem detection and resolution, improved availability, and enhanced user experience. therefore, in this research paper we will (a) analyze the current architecture of the system of a company dedicated to providing tourism services in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador; (b) design an architecture based on microservices; and (c) develop a prototype to help us validate the feasibility of the proposed architecture. thus, contributing to better performance, applying fault tolerance, and the possibility of both horizontal and vertical scaling in the microservices architecture system.

the simulation analysis of the solar hot water preparation system for an apartment building is presented. the analyses investigated the effect of climatic conditions on the efficiency of the solar system. To demonstrate the influence of climatic conditions, four building locations (Stockholm, Prague, Milan, and Barcelona), six different solar collectors, and six different design areas of solar collector field were used. the aim was to verify how the efficiency of the solar system varies depending on the climatic and design conditions. Moreover, the influence of year-to-year fluctuations of climatic conditions was also explored. the analysis has been provided by using TRNSYS simulation software over the period of one year using the time step of 2 minutes. the simulation results clearly showed that the efficiency of the SDHW system is dependent on the climatic conditions, especially on the air temperature. On the other hand, year-to-year weather fluctuations do not strongly affect the efficiency of the SDHW system.

Virtual Network Embedding (VNE) is an open Substrate provisioning problem. In fact, VNE tries to find the optimal substrate infrastructure for each virtual element. Previous works complete two phases of node and link mapping to embed Virtual Networks (VN) and try to check all possible scenarios. In this paper, the estimation of distribution algorithm (EDA) is used to embed VNs on the Substrate Network. In the coding method, we examined the mapping of nodes and links together, so we can easily use a univariate EDA. the evaluation results show the proposed method overcomes the previous methods like Presto and ACO-VNE in convergence and high acceptance ratio and high revenue in the VNE process.
