Compared with traditional fixed Instruction set architecture (ISA) processor, configurable processors can reduce the total number of execution cycles dramatically because the instruction set customization permits a much closer fit of the processor to target application. At the same time, custom instruction can also improve the energy efficiency remarkably. However, ISA customization does not always bring power efficiency Instead, sometimes it even increase the power consumption. To address this issue, this paper distinguishes energy efficiency from power efficiency via time granularity. Furthermore, a method combining ISA customization with frequency and voltage scaling is proposed to achieve both favorable energy and power efficiency.

We present a multi-resolution mesh model of the ocean surface based on a straightforward terrain LOD scheme, Tiled Quad-tree, withthat the region of ocean surface can be extended limitlessly and readily adapted for GPU acceleration. We have introduced the concept of Wrapped Fractal Surface (WFS) for generating height field map of the ocean. through WFS self-mapping, we can create a series of WFS and obtain the height field map at discrete times without repeating tiles. By interpolating the height map at regular intervals we can build an ocean surface continuously and dynamically. this paper also studied shallow ocean waves concerned about affects of seaboard and underwater terrain. Experimental results showed that our approach was effective and would satisfy the requirements of a realistic real-time navigation for large-scale seascape.

Texture atlas is widely used in many applications such as texture mapping, 3D Paint and illumination map texture synthesis etc. Several methods have been proposed for generating texture atlas, but most of them are not compact enough for some applications or require too much manual intervention. this paper presents a fully automatic BFD approach to generate compact texture atlas for triangular mesh models. Our main contribution is making some modifications to a piecewise mesh parameterization method to control the shape of charts by introducing a new local criterion, and developing a novel rectangle packing algorithm.

Wavelet method has been found to be very effective in treating geometric modeling due to its properties of localization both in time/spatial and frequency domains. We discuss how wavelet multiresolution techniques can be applied to free form feature (FFF) surface design, present one 2-stage CAD design approach combining feature concept and multiresolution representation. the approach proves that wavelet multiresolution technology is available for the extraction of FFF in the region of interest (ROI). the wavelet coefficients indicate the degree of detail in the solution;this makes feature/detail manipulation intuitive and convenient. Finally, an integrated framework of FFF surface design is given and discussed by an instance.
