Serverless computing platforms have recently emerged, offering automatic elastic scaling, high performance, and reduced costs but often utilize proprietary deployment tools and services locking users into platform-specific services. this research aims to apply Sky Computing to serverless computing platforms offered by major cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Azure, and more. this research will build a serverless sky architecture to enable the aggregation of serverless resources to achieve service-level objectives such as low hosting costs, high performance, fault tolerance, high throughput, and low carbon footprint. the research will focus on evaluating the performance implications of serverless aggregation (thrust-1), design and evaluation of Sky Computing architectures and aggregation strategies (thrust-2), and finally autonomous resource aggregation for intelligent self-management of applications deployed to the sky (thrust-3).

the cycle of computeraideddesign and verification via physics simulation is often burdened by the use of separate tools for modeling and simulation, which requires conversion between formats, e.g. meshing for finite element simulation. this separation is often unavoidable because the tools contain specific domain knowledge which is mandatory for the task, for example a specific CAD modeling suite. We propose a distributed application that allows interactive modification of tetrahedral meshes, derived from existing CAD models. It provides immediate simulation feedback by offloading resource-intensive tasks onto multiple machines thereby enabling fast design cycles for individualized versions of mass-produced parts.

In theworld of User Experience (UX), personas are tools that represent what designers learn during research into potential customers and a population that might use a product, website, service, or represent a brand. they also serve to help designers and engineering teams focus on user values, as well as understand possible user constraints and limitations [1]. this study asks the question "how related are designers to the personas they create?" UX designers create for an ever-changing world and increasingly diverse audiences. It is important to ensure that their personas reflect evolving consumer base demographics. Our hypothesis grew out of studies discussing implications of innate human stereotyping behavior on the creation of personas [2]. However, to our knowledge, no previous studies directly examined how related UX design practitioners and the personas they create are. Turner and Turner [2] suggest, in their article "Is stereotyping inevitable when designing with personas?", that we tend to display our biases in the form of stereotypes. Without examining these biases, designers may fail to create representative personas that demonstrate empathy for the user's specific needs, values, and constraints, instead creating products around their own needs and vision [3]. Analyzing the data, we found most UX designers created personas that were closely related to themselves, with very little deviation from this norm. the sole exception was Black designers, who tended to produce a wider array of more diverse personas.

the Internet of things (IoT) can be understood as a network of smart devices connected to the Internet that collect and share data. the Internet of Healththings (IoHT) is an area of research that has been gaining a lot of prominences and includes the use of IoT solutions aimed at monitoring healthcare and improving the health of users of these solutions. the development of IoHT solutions involves several challenges, including the interoperability between different smart devices and different sets of sensors, the difficulties of initial design decisions about which technology to use for the solution, and the development cost for the smart devices, which includes not only the financial cost but also the processing and energetic cost that are important to be considered, since the hardware limitations of these smart devices can impede the execution of some applications. the reuse of software artifacts can help reduce costs and other challenges. In this sense, this work proposes the modeling and implementation of a classification graph that relates different sensors, features, classification algorithms, and health states (or situations), providing a reusable software artifact that can help boththe requirements elicitation and design stages. Also, the classification graph can be used as a knowledge base for implementing data analysis modules and predicting health states. We evaluated the proposal through a proof of concept, in which we implemented a classification graph based on the proposed model in a web server, using two different datasets, with data from accelerometer and gyroscope sensors and 30 actions (or final states). the developed system also implements three classification algorithms: an artificial neural network, a decision tree, and a random forest.
